Bobbi was stopped at a light on the way to Halifax Hospital. Abby was riding shotgun, with Ivy in the backseat. Ivy was the only one not strapped in, due to the size of her belly and wanting to lie down across the seat. “We aren’t far now,” Bobbi said. “Another five minutes and we’ll pull into the emergency room.” She glanced to the back at her niece. “It’s okay, honey. Almost there. Five minutes.” Ivy let out another loud groan, followed by a growl. Bobbi moved the car forward when the light changed. Then the unexpected happened. A guy in a pickup truck didn’t stop for the red light. Bobbi saw him coming but couldn’t avoid him. He plowed into the driver’s side of the car, pushing the vehicle completely out of his path, so it faced south instead of west. Ivy screamed from the backseat. N
