Abby called the police station and asked to speak to Sergeant Pardon. She was transferred to his extension quickly.
“Sergeant Pardon,” he said abruptly.
“Hi, this is Abby,” she said, hesitating.
“Did you stumble across more spit?” he asked.
She wasn’t sure if he was attempting a joke or being serious. “No, but the guy matching that spit attempted to kill me yesterday in my apartment. He’s been arrested.”
“Yeah, I was just reviewing the officer’s report.” He sounded more involved now. “I see you were unharmed.”

“Rose saw that man kill her boyfriend. She knows him and wants to make a report about what she witnessed.”
