"Okay, this is confusing. First, it was Chantelle's parents. Now Trevor's?" Denver chuckled in disbelief.
It was really confusing for them since they are almost out of the country but here their parents, showing up out of nowhere and what's more confusing is they know where they could find the teenagers.
"What's going on?" Jisu, Chantelle, Denver and Siena ran out of the camper van to see the reason why Lexi gasped a bit exaggeratedly.
"It's Trevor's parents." Iris whispered to them and jolted her head towards the people next to the car.
"Uncle Ron, Uncle Tony!" Jisu exclaimed and she approached the couple.
"They were the ones tailing us?" Chantelle asked. Blake and Iris nodded their heads.
"I could smell something fishy." Siena mumbled while nodding her head slowly and scratching her chin, studying the two guys in front of Lexi, who's still shocked to see Trevor's parents. The gay couple who adopted Trevor and treat him like their own son despite of being member of LGBT.
"I know, right?" Denver agreed. "My mother doesn't know how to drive, how am I gonna see her too?"
"Dumbass." Chantelle snorted and smacked Denver's head lightly. "That's now what she was talking about."
"Then what is it?"
"We're already close to the border of the US and Canada, but they still know where to find us. I mean, how did they even know what kind of car we were using and how did they even know that we are still alive even if the news already spread out about the incident of our deaths?" Chantelle said as she shifted her gaze inside the car and she was sure that she saw someone inside who quickly hid at the backseat. It may be quick but Chantelle's eyes were faster. "Take away Lexi and Jisu from them."
"What? Why?" They asked confusedly.
"Just do it! And Blake, please start the car." Chantelle said in a rush as she ran inside the camper and dragged Siena with her.
Even though the other teenagers were confused, they still complied with her instructions. Iris and Denver walked towards Lexi and Jisu.
"Guys, let's go." Denver called.
Lexi turned her head to look at Denver. "Guys, this is Trevor's—."
"I don't care!" Denver hissed and he grabbed Lexi's hand. "Let's go, Lex."
"What is wrong with you? These are Trevor's parents!" Lexi said annoyingly and jerked away Denver's hand from her. She turned around to face the couple but before she could fully turn, she saw something inside the car. Her reflexes were too quick and she immediately leaped away from Trevor's parents. "Get in the van!" She yelled as she dragged Jisu with her.
"Wait, what's going on?!"
"It's not Trevor's parents!" Lexi said without looking back to the couple who suddenly transformed into monsters.
"What kind of sorcery was that?! How could they transform as a monster in daylight?!" Denver yelled in fear while running for his life back to the camper.
"Why are we running? We could fight them, right?" Siena asked.
"If they could transform in daylight, then it's not an ordinary monsters!" Lexi said. "But the question is, how did they find us?!"
"I don't know, Lexi! Stop asking me!" Denver screamed and he jumped first when they reached the camper van, he waited for everyone to get inside before slamming the door. "Let's get out of here!" He shouted.
Blake immediately stepped on the gas and he drove as fast as he could without looking back or thinking about the speed limit since there wasn't any on the deserted road they were on.
"W-what's going on?" Trevor asked when he was awakened by Denver's loud voice.
"Dude, your parents were here earlier but they turned out that they are not your parents!" Siena explained but Trevor can't comprehend it.
"What?" He asked with his eyebrows knitted and in his half sleep state.
"Your parents are not your parents!"
"I know, I mean— I'm adopted, but what does my parents have to do with your loud asses?" Trevor asked again, this time, he was completely awake and he stood up, stretching his arms above his head with a yawn.
"Trev, your parents!" Siena exclaimed with her hands in the air quoting the words. "Ain't your parents!"
"Okay wait, will you calm down first?" He chuckled and turned to Denver but the latter is in the same state as Siena and there will be no difference if he asks him, so he turned to Iris. "What is going on?" He asked.
"There's a car tailing us."
"Yeah, I already saw that."
"And we decided to confront them but when they got out of their car, Lexi said that it was your parents, Ron and Tony, I guess?"
"Those are my dads! Where are they?!"
"That's what they were trying to tell you. It's not your dads but a monsters." Chantelle continued the explanation.
"Wait, how did you know it anyway?" Denver asked, looking at Chantelle suspiciously.
"Why are you looking at me like that like I'm one with those monsters?" Chantelle scoffed and kicked Denver's shin. "I just happened to see a monster in the backseat."
"Wait, so you're telling me that my parents, the one who adopted me and raised me, are monsters?" Trevor sat down weakly on the couch he slept in.
"I don't think so, but do you guys believe in shapeshifters?" Lexi chimes in as she got back inside and leaves Blake to the front when she hears Trevor's voice.
"Like werewolves?" Jisu asked. "Do they even exist?"
"No, not werewolves. But they are somewhat related, but some shapeshifters could transform into someone else." Lexi walked towards Trevor and sat next to him, she put her hand on the latter's shoulder and squeezed. "Relax, Uncle Ron and Uncle Tony are not monsters."
"So you mean, Chantelle's parents from last night were not really her parents?" Iris asked. The question has been inside her head since the moment the couple transformed into monsters.
"I think they are real people." Jisu said with dry chuckles. "Because if not, then how would they know about the issue of their family?"
"She's right. No one even knows that I'm their daughter because my dad never mentioned nor claimed that I am their child. So people who were close or knew him didn't know that he has a daughter."
"That's ridiculous." They all said in dismay. They feel sorry for Chantelle for experiencing that miserable life because of her own father.
"I know, but that saved me from a lot of trouble so it's okay." Chantelle shrugged.
"But how? How did they know where we are and how—." Denver was interrupted when they suddenly felt a hard collision and they all knocked down, some of them even hit the wall of the camper van. "W-what happened?" He asked while trying to stand but his leg got caught in between the refrigerator that fell on him and he couldn't feel his leg at all. "What the f-f**k? Guys, help—." He stopped when he looked around and saw everyone lying down but no one was moving and the camper van was upside down.
"J-Jazen." Lexi slowly crawled towards her girlfriend who was thrown away after the camper van got hit by a trailer truck.
Denver looked at the front to check Blake, but his eyes widened when he saw how the front of the van was totally crushed and there's no way in hell that Blake would have the chance to be alive.
