The sizzling of bacon could be heard loudly from the kitchen, along with a string of curses and sounds of pain. Despite the cacophony that ensued in the kitchen, the man on the couch didn’t move an inch, staring fixedly at the screen. The sounds coming from the television and the kitchen were distant to him because even though his eyes were fixed on the screen, his mind was elsewhere.
