The man in front of me couldn’t stand still and his hands were fumbling at the side. I could practically the ‘please answer me’ expression on his face. As I kept staring at him, the redness on his neck moved all the way to his ears.
‘That was cute.’ I thought. Looking at him, his overall appearance was really in line with my ideal type. Well, his face was a little too handsome than my liking, but his not-too-much muscle and height were really my type.
But we can’t judge someone’s personality only by looking at his nice appearance, can we?
“I’m sorry, but I don’t think I could just date a stranger, since I haven’t really talked to you yet.” Heck, I didn’t even know he existed until now.
He rubbed the back of his neck, his ears getting redder. “Yeah…Then can I look for you sometimes? To get to know you better and for you to know me, I mean!”
He gave an embarrassed laugh.
“Sure.” I smiled. No harm in having a handsome friend. “Then, I’m going first, okay?”
“Wait!” I stopped and turned back to look at him questioningly.
“… Your number, please…” He mumbled and smiled cutely.

My best friend sat at my dining table, talking to Grandma Gigi while staring at me once in a while, not even hiding it. Ignoring her even though I can feel the daggers aimed at my head, I stirred our potato stew for the night.
“So…Who was that guy just now?” She finally blurted out the question that was hanging on her mouth.
Grandma Gigi stopped peeling the cabbages, smelling some kind of a gossip and turned to me with a glint in her eyes.
“Ho ho…A man, dear? Do tell this old lady”
“Yeah, tell us.” My best friend smirked, clearly enjoying this.
I turned off the stove, ladled some to the bowl and brought the stew to the dining table, avoiding two pairs of eyes that had too much curiosity in them.
“What should I tell? He just wanted my number.” I said as I tried to brush it off.
“Don’t lie! I heard that he confessed to you!” My best friend rushed out to deny my words.
“Oh my! Really? Is he kind? Handsome?” Grandma Gigi asked energetically.
“Are you peeping on us?!” Embarrassed, I looked at my best friend astonishingly. And that woman still dared to put her hand in a peace sign and laughed!
“I’m just taking precaution, who knows if he wanted to do something bad.” She reasoned.
Liar. I knew she was just curious and being a busybody. I glared at her, blushing. Well, at least Grandma Gigi was happy at the expense of teasing me. My best friend continued to tell the full story to Grandma Gigi while I sat there eating and trying to be invisible. These two gossipy ladies…
Ugh, my neck...
“But thinking about the confession, do you still remember that senior from Business department?” My best friend suddenly asked me when we were sitting in my room, watching a thriller movie on her laptop.
“Which one?” I answered absentmindedly, half closing my eyes due to the tension and fear. She rolled her eyes at me, smacking me on my back, scaring me half to death.
“What the f**k are you doing?!” I shouted, paling at the sudden scare.
“It’s just the beginning of the movie, the thrill hasn’t even started, what are you scared of?” She rolled her eyes, exasperated at my scaredy-cat behavior.
“I just can’t, okay?! Why are we even watching this!” I regretted the choice of letting her in my house today.
“Because you lose our bet?”
I pressed my face into the pillow I was holding, trying to unhear the words playing from the laptop. I felt like my soul was leaving my body as I heard her muttered that we should watch horror next time.
Note to self, let’s not have her visiting for the next month.
“So, about that senior, did he still contact you?” She latched on my arm, trying to smell out more gossip. I swatted away her face that was coming closer to mine.
“Nope. Why would he contact me? We’re not even close.” I looked at her weirdly.
“Huh? I’m quite sure he liked you though.” She looked back at me questioningly.
I rolled my eyes at her speculation. My best friend had been saying that for the longest time, that the senior liked me.
“For the last time woman, there’s not even a small indication that he liked-…What the heck!” I jumped at the sudden scare from the movie, cut off in the middle of my sentence.
“I’m quite sure though…” She mumbled before focusing back to the movie.
