No amount of sprints lessened the heaviness in my heart. I had no regrets, but there was a whole bunch of sadness and confusion tucked into the corners of my very existence. I stopped at the end of the street, breathless. Once I assured myself that Elijah wouldn't come out looking for me, I began to walk. It was the second time I had ran away from him because I was a confused coward. Nook after cranny, I forced myself to explore the part of town, in hopes of getting my mind off Elijah and clearing my head. From a bookstore to a coffee shop to a general grocery store; I walked in and out of doors, said a halfhearted greeting to people who stared at me, until my body became exhausted and the sun sunk below the horizon.
