Chapter Thirty Nine

The circle of stone yawned wide before me, and the pack’s chant hammered against my ribs. Moonborn. Moonborn. Moonborn. His crown was not as old as their law. Kalen's smile was both savage and piercing. “Thorn, can you hear them? This cannot even be put out by your fire. The law is knows her. She is claimed by the law.”He turned, his arms spread wide, exposing his blood and scars to the wolves. "And let her prove it in the circle if she is what they want." Like thunder, the words rang out. Some howled in defiance, while others did so in frenzied agreement. The circle seemed to burn with anticipation as the ground shook.
