I looked all over for Jaylene that day, but she was nowhere to be found. Prom is in a matter of days, so I’m not too worried. She may have just stayed home today, nervous about what I would say to her proposal. That was a Wednesday when I found the note in my locker. I went to school every day, and Jaylene wasn’t in attendance. A part of me was nervous, but I kept rereading the note. The note was clear on the day, time and location. I felt like Jaylene knew she would be out for a few days and left me that information so I would know what the plan was.
