36 Tyler Sara’s hand shot up to cover her heart as we all blinked and tried to comprehend the commanding presence before us. “What the f**k?” I said the words aloud because it was the only sentiment that seemed to make sense. Tristan and I locked eyes. Our confused gazes left no doubt that we were equally perplexed by this shocking turn of events. After breaking my eyes away from my twin, my eyes darted to the other faces in the room. Dirk’s stunned expression––as if he was staring at a ghost––made it obvious that he was as surprised by this twist as we were. When I looked back at Sara, who had her arm snaked around Tristan’s waist, obviously supporting him from drunkenly swaying, she was looking back at me. I valiantly tried not to read too much into the look of longing she gave me.
