Chapter 2: Meeting the Devil Angelica's POV My shift was finally about to end for the day and I was so thankful for that. My body just wanted to rest and not move for a while, but after so many long years of abuse, I had become accustomed to the pain. I can push my body to work and do the things that needed to be done, but I do pay the price for it later, and sometimes, it's not worth it. I still had a few tables to do before we could go "home". I walked over to one of the remaining tables with customers and I smiled at them. "Hello, my name is Angelica and I am your waitress today. How may I help you?" I greeted them like I do all day, everyday. Sitting there were three happy children and two tired looking parents.  Suddenly, I felt something grab and cling onto my leg. I looked down and saw a little blonde girl was holding onto my leg. She was looking up at me and smiling widely. One of her front teeth were missing. "You're pwetty." she said, happily. I smiled down at her and bent down to her level. "Aw, thank you. You are pretty too." I said, smiling, and she giggled at me. I reached into my apron and pulled out a red lollipop. "Would you like a lollipop?" "Yes, pwease!" she yelled, happily taking the lollipop out of my hands and start to suck on it. The parents looked at me and smiled. "I'm sorry about that. Anne can be a little too friendly with strangers." the mother said. I shook my head and smiled at her. "It's alright, I don't mind. I have a little brother of my own, so I understand." I said, pointing to Wes. They laughed and nodded before they ordered their food. I brought them it when it was done and the father handed me a ten dollar bill. I smiled at them and thanked them. I looked at Rosa and raised an eyebrow, nodding my head to the last table where a bunch of new people came into. Rosa nodded her head, slowly, and I sighed as I began to walk over to them. There were eight people sitting at the large table; six of them were men and the other two were women. Four of the six were roughhousing together while the other two men were sitting there calmly, just watching the spectacle happen in front of them. The two women were clinging onto the two watchers. "Excuse me, but you all need to calm down and take a seat." I said, looking at the men roughhousing. All of them looked at me, the strange newcomer, and in that moment, I thought I had grown a second head or something. "Excuse me?" one of the girls snapped at me. I looked over at her and could instantly tell that she was the head of whatever group of girls she had. She was the stereotypical fake-blonde, large breasted leader you see in movies. If I said anything "wrong" to her, she is going to blow it out of proportion and make this a huge deal. I just sighed and repeated myself. "I was just asking you guys to calm down. This is a family diner and there are little kids here. I don't want them seeing or getting caught up in your little games here." I said, calmly. This seemed to infuriate her even more. It seems like I have a talent for getting people angry at me. She narrowed her eyes at me as she spoke to me, "Well, who is going to make us?" "Kimmy." one of the men groaned. "Just shut up already, nobody cares and she's right." The rest of them just stared at us as she glared at me and I looked at her, clearly bored with the situation, one I have been in multiple times. "So, can I take your order or what? This is my last table before I go home and I'd like to get it done and over with." I said, tired of waiting. I didn't want to go home, but I didn't want to stay here and have some witch, that I don't even know, glare at me for some odd reason. The girls smirked at each other as if they thought up a brilliant plan or something. "Only if you kiss my feet and apologize on your hands and knees." the leader, Kimmy, said, smirking. Wow. She actually thought I was going to do that. In her dreams. I leaned on the table, towards her, and looked directly in her eyes. Kimmy back away from me a little bit. "Listen to me, and listen good because you need to learn this lesson." I hissed at her, ready to rip her a new pair. "I'm not your f*****g parents, so I'm not going to kiss your fake ass or baby you like you are a child. I'm not one of your plastic friends that go on and on about how pretty you are and about how your fake tan matches you perfectly, because trust me, you look like a burnt orange. And I am sure as hell not going to listen to some pompous b***h who think she's all that because she doesn't have to work here. I take your order, give your food and leave. Now, either shut the f**k up, so I can do my job or get the hell out of here before I kick your ass." I can't say that I'm known for my patience and kindness to other people, unless I'm around children or talking to them. The men all "oohed" and cheered me on, but both of the girls got furious. I have learned a lot of lessons in life, and one of them is that people only get mad when the truth is told to them and it seems like I hit the nail on the head. Kimmy's "friend" stood up and threw a cup of water in my face. I was obviously not ready for this sudden attack or else I would have dodged it, and my makeup isn't waterproof. Jack and Wes rushed over to the table as I grabbed the towel from my apron and wiped my face, the makeup covering the poor white towel. I looked at them, and they were all staring at me in shock. I laughed at their reactions. "Trust me, little girl," I said, dropping my voice as I stared at her. "I get worse orders from a lot bigger and scarier people, and I still fight back. Don't you dare try an order anyone in this staff around like that again, or else I will find you and beat your ass." I pushed my order pad into Jack's chest and grabbed Wes' hand. I walked back into the locker room and shoved my apron back into the locker. We walked out the back entrance and started home.
