Chapter 3 | Mon Amine Entering the cereal aisle she dumped a few boxes of randomly picked out cereal in her cart which was halfway full with everything eatable and sweet. Visiting the grocery store was the first thing she did as soon as she freshen up in the morning. The store was just five minutes away from the place she lived so she did not bother dressing up and strolled down the road in long pajama pants and an XL t-shirt, hair up in a bun. Comfort is the best fashion she believed. She had a lot to do, after the shocking mail from Thorn. Inc. she had to prepare her best to impress the interviewer, no matter who they are she had to be prepared for their rapid fire questions thrown her way. If she somehow managed to bag this job she will be working at one of the most prestigious companies out there, and not to mention all her financial problems would be solved! The same afternoon she sorted out all her certificates, the Resume and started searching for something professional fit for an interview at Thorn. Inc. She had segregated all her clothes according to the level of professionalism they carried, which turned out to be utterly useless and a waste of time. At the end she decided to go with Full sleeve cream color blouse and a slightly dark pastel purple pencil skirt. She had it ironed in a few hours and hung in the closet to save time in the morning, she had to be there by 10 sharp, that meant she had to leave by 9 ish since it took at least 40 minutes to reach the address. Now that she was prepared and since her pantry was filled she started preparing dinner, she was not a good cook but she was not the worst, she was somewhere in the middle. She was capable of cooking and feeding herself and for her to survive it was enough.  She settled on spaghetti and sauce tonight, the sauce was readymade so it was easier to prepare and with less hassle. She was halfway through dinner when her phone pinged indicating a message. Balancing the plate full of food in one hand and her phone in the other she juggled to keep her meal from falling on the phone and check the message. 'Best of Luck for you interview! I know you will be selected!'  -Jax She smiled and replied with a thumbs up and a thank you, Jax was a nice friend and she was happy to have him as a neighbor. She had mentioned something about the interview earlier when they met while she was on her way back from the grocery store. She did not expect him to remember it. He replied shortly after she hit the send and laughed at the funny GIF he had send.  She wanted to thank him for the meal and for being her friends so she thought of treating him to a meal the next day. She quickly texted him if he was in and smile when he replied affirmatively. Tomorrow will be a good day. .......... It was raining buckets since dawn. Belinda gazed out of her bedroom window and sighed sadly at the gloomy weather. It was supposed to be a good day for her, but still there was a small part in her that believed it would still be good. Nothing could ruin this for her and she would make sure of it. She checked the alarm clock set on the small table next to her bed. It read 7:15 am. She had some time to get ready and make herself presentable, she took a nice long shower and applied a Coconut and watermelon lotion on her skin to prevent it from drying out since she had a naturally dry skin. Struggling with the curler, she managed to curl the ends of her waist length light brown hair into soft curls and lightly curl her bangs on the side. Her makeup was kept simple and light, a few strokes of Mascara, a pink tinted balm on her lips and a little powder to finish it off.  Dabbing on some of her favorite perfume she gave herself a twirl in front of the mirror. Once satisfied with herself, she carried out checking her files once more.  By the time she was done with all the interview related stuff she had half an hour left before leaving. Hurriedly she popped a few bread slices in the toaster and brought out a cube of butter from the refrigerator quickly making a few butter toasts to fill her stomach. It was almost 9, Belinda had taken a seat on the small couch in the sitting room and tried to calm herself. She was anxious about a lot of things at the moment and it could ruin her chance to be employed at Thorn. Inc.  She took deep breaths and gulped down a glass of water to calm her nerves. Slowly locking her door she stepped down the stairs one by one, trying not to trip and break her neck on her 5 inch heels. She saw Jax leaving his house when she reached the floor below her's and called a hey to him. He seemed pleased to see her, at least someone was having a great day, she thought. "You leaving for the interview?"  He asked casually swinging car keys on his pointer finger. "Yeah." She mumbled, playing with her fingers in anticipation. It was an important interview and not mention her first one. With no experience in work and a stuttering mouth she was sure they will be seeing her out of the door even before she answered all the questions. "Hey, it's alright to be nervous, I was a wreck when I had my first interview even though it was in a burger joint. But I am sure you will do great! Believe in yourself and show them what you got." She nodded somewhat reassured but still doubtful of what was to come. "Should I drop you off? I am heading to work too."  She politely declined his offer and insisting on taking a bus, regret started to settle in as the minutes ticked away, the bus arrived a little too late for her linking, she regretted not taking up the ride Jax had offered. She was horrifyingly late for her interview.
