' We knew this wouldn't be easy, that's why we started with our brother werewolves and we will end with our brother vampires' said Tib.
After the 'no' from Jackson, they had both been shown to their rooms. Tib was currently sitting in a chair in Gems room with his long legs sticking out in front of him. Those things are a tripping hazards Gem thought but was pulled back from her thoughts with the ending of Tibs words.
' It is late, let's have a sleep and we can try again in the morning when he has had time to think about things, werewolves can be impulsive but once they have cooled down they are usually much more reasonable' Gem noted.
Unknown to both Gem and Tib, in a room, down a floor from theirs, a crumbled letter was being taken from a drawer, smoothed out and read. Then it was read again and the reader sighed.
Breakfast was ready for Gem and Tib in the morning. Omegas scrambled back and forth to see to their every need but no other werewolves were about, their day started early.
Tib gave his stomach a pat, his flat stomach Gem noted, even after all the food he had just put away.
'Satisfied?' Gem asked. Tib just grinned back at her patting his stomach even more. Gem rolled her eyes.
The door to the breakfast hall opened and both pairs of eyes turned to see Jackson striding across it towards them.
'May I sit?'
Gem inclined her head to indicate he could. Jackson sat at the top of the table so he could see them both clearly.
' I have read the letter'.
Gems eyebrow raised, so he had kept it.
' I think we do need to talk, I need to know exactly what you plan, how after all this time you will get everyone to agree to opening the Archives and what danger you have felt'.
Gem looked at Tib who gave her a nod indicating he was happy for her to 'take this one'.
Gem took a breath and started to relay all that had started this journey they were now on,
'A couple of months ago while at work I had a feeling that something had awoken in the world, it was felt by Tib and others as well. A couple of days after that there was an enormous surge of magic, the likes I have not felt for years'.
'We felt that in the Werewolf community as well' said Jackson ' not probably at your level but we are also bearers of magic, we were unsure as to why someone would be using such magic these days, everyone pretty much keeps their magic for use on small spells I believe'. The magical power to transform releases magic but not at any level that would alert other magic users.
Tib leaned over the breakfast table to look Jackson straight in the face. 'We need into the archives, we need to remind ourselves of the legend'.
Jackson furrowed his brows, there was only one prophecy that Jackson could remember that would be big enough to warrant Gem and Tib being out here sitting at his breakfast table but he couldn't quite recall it. His father would have known it off by heart but with magic now hidden and magic bearers living separate lives a lot had been forgotten but one thing did ring in Jackson's head, ' you're talking about the destruction of all bearers of magic'.
Gem and Tibs faces paled and all they could do was nod.
'Ok', said Jackson, 'please take the morning to relax and we can meet in my study for lunch and further discussions, I need to share this with a few select members of my pack '.
Gem and Tib wandered the vast grounds that made up the farm belonged to the pack. All around them people were working at different jobs either making food etc to keep within the pack or stuff that they could sell to keep the pack afloat. This pack was doing well, the houses, the pack house were all exquisite and well looked after.
At lunchtime Gem and Tib headed to the study. With a polite knock they opened the door. In the room was Jackson, Tyler who they had already meet and an old familiar face. Gem let out a noise, almost a sob and crossed the study to greet the old werewolf.
' Matt, it has been so long. What are you doing here', said
'Hello Gem, it has indeed been a long time but you, you still look the same. Witches and their youth. Hello Tib, you're looking well'.
Matt had been Jackson's father's second in command, his Beta, and had known Gem and Tib for a long time. However, where Gem and Tib barely aged and had a long, long life span, werewolves were only a couple of hundred years on this earth. Gem, Tib and Matt remembered a time when bearers of magic had worked together, this was no longer the case.
After greetings they sat down and while talking tucked into the food that was for lunch. Matt explained that while he no longer took to do with everyday pack business, he was always there for Jackson to consult with, especially after the passing of his father. Turned out Tyler was Matts son, him and Jackson were carrying on from their father's before them.
Gem, Tib and Matt between them managed to piece together what they could from the past.
Gem started, ' What you have to understand is that this was a prophecy made when I was only a young witch myself. It hasn't been spoken about in a few hundred years'.
Tib interrupted, 'The prophecy was made by a Warlock called Belgust', he looked at Gem who nodded in agreement. 'Belgust's magic lay in seeing the future, foretelling and advising bearers of magic of things to come'.
Gem continued, ' The night Belgust' died he had went to the leaders of the Witches and Warlocks to proclaim his most terrifying prophecy of all, the destruction of all bearers of magic. I do not know what was fully said, my predisessor never told me, the prophecy was forgotten, well by us in the light of day. After Belgust' strange death that night, I know that this was worked on behind the scenes and those workings lie in the Archives and we need representation from each magical group to gain entry'. Gem took a much needed breath, looked at Jackson and said, ' Are the werewolves in?' Jackson looked at his Beta and Matt then turned to Gem and Tib,
' Were in'.
