Chapter 4

Love Triangle Sophia's POV "Crazy?" Grayson asked, shocked at my sudden outburst. I stood up from my seat quietly and looked him in the eye. "I have heard crazy offers but I have never heard one crazier than this contract girlfriend thingy. Is this a joke?" I asked, still stunned. "Now you're being dramatic..." He muttered. "Oh, am I?" I laughed. "You expect me to accept your offer with gratitude and thank you for your awesome favor. You must be joking!" "I do not think it is that deep..." Grayson offered. "All I did was give you an offer that would change your life. I don't know much about you but the fact that you are a chef in a local restaurant gives me several hints already. How much do you get paid daily? A few dollars, probably." "You're telling me to sell myself, young man!" I said energetically. "We all do," he replied. "I am not going to use you in all the wrong ways so it'll be quite safe. This is an offer you won't get from everyone else. Like I said before, you are only a four out of ten. You should be grateful that this offer was directed to you out of millions who would grab that offer readily." I gave him a smug look. "I am not interested, Mr. Grayson. Keep your money to yourself," I started to walk out of his room. He stood up, stunned by what just happened. "You can't just leave like that!" He exclaimed. "Yes, I can. Is this a kidnapping?" I asked but he didn't reply. "You said there were millions who would accept that crazy offer of yours. Go and meet one of them." He was staring blankly at me now. I walked out of the room angrily. All I had heard was true about wealthy people. They looked down on everyone and expected everyone to be at their beck and call. I was pissed off. ** Believe me when I say I felt like screaming at Kelvin for setting me up with Grayson. However, it appeared he didn't know what happened between us so I let it go. He didn't even talk about it till the next day. "What was your relationship with that guy?" Kelvin asked coldly. I was doing the dishes when he asked. "Nothing!" I replied and that was it. No back and forth was required between us. I thought I had put this offer behind me but I was constantly reminded of how I had to repay the debt for the month in two days. I still had no idea about how I would settle this. Guess who came to the restaurant that same afternoon. Yes, it was Grayson. He was seated with his leg crossed. "Grayworm!" I shouted, surprised by his presence. "It is Grayson, girl. I'm not a worm," he replied. He sounded a little pissed off too. "What are you doing here?" I tried to ask naturally but it didn't really work. He looked into my eyes and I hoped he didn't see the doubt I was trying to hide. "There is only one reason a customer would come to a restaurant," he replied coolly. I put on a fake smile, "May I take your order, sir?" Grayson ate heartily but slowly. It was as if he was waiting for all the customers to leave. He was the last customer remaining and this greatly burdened me for an undefined reason. I ended up walking to him. "Why are you really here?" I asked him. "That sounds like you want me to say something," he smiled at me. "What do you want me to say?" "Don't get me wrong. I want nothing from you," I lied and turned back to leave. That was when he spoke. "I did a little digging into your private life..." He began, earning my attention at once. "Apparently, you have no mother. Your father is a drunkard and addicted gambler and your stepmother is a housewife." "Why would you dig into my privacy? What the hell are you looking for!" I shouted, feigning anger. "I heard you have a lot of debts," he smiled. "You deal with a few unethical loan sharks and there is a risk that you'll lose your house if you miss a repayment day. You might end up homeless soon." "It's not as if I plan to miss a repayment day," I muttered uncertainly. I knew I didn't have enough for the next repayment in two days. I wondered if Grayson knew that. "I can take care of all your debts at once. And your sister... She is a cutie, you know. I will send her to the best university home or abroad. If she prefers, she can keep schooling where she's at," Grayson continued. "I am telling you I can change your life and I mean for good." "You can't change my mind," I said weakly. He might just find out my reluctance if I continued like this. "Just stop being stubborn. I know you need me..." Grayson told me. "The good thing is that I need you as well. Take the offer while you can." I closed my eyes and thought for a moment. Accepting Grayson's offer would be taking a life where I didn't have to work so hard. However, that would mean I would be selling the dignity I had left. My pride would be bruised badly too. "I have decided to..." I was saying before Damien came out from the kitchen and turned to Grayson. "Mister!" Damien called him. "I don't know the full details of what's being discussed but I will say this regardless." "It's not your business," Grayson interrupted. "f**k off!" Damien shouted at him. "I can take care of this," I said, pushing Damien slightly. He pushed me further away, taking charge. "You won't get to bully Sophia when she is with me!" Damien grabbed my hand to prove the point. "Are you her boyfriend?" Grayson asked carefully. "Yes, I am!" Damien lied. "Now, f**k off." I stared at Damien, he had never looked more serious in his life.
