You Want Me To Do What?

1085 Words
It's been five days since the girls had the sleepover night, and Jessica was in the living room of her new house, talking with Harry for once again. "What should I do today?" Jessica wondered. "I honestly have no idea. A few days ago, you had a sleepover with Flora. The next day, you hung out and went to eat lunch with her, and yesterday you went to her house. Why don't you stay here for today?" "I guess I could. But what should I eat?" Jessica wondered, making Harry laugh with her never-ending questions. Suddenly, Harry recalled something. "Hey, haven't you been writing a new song lately? You haven't finished yet, have you?" "Oh, you're right! I will see what I can do." She stood up and headed straight at her room to find the paper she wrote it at. When she did, she sat down on her desk and tried to find ideas for the lyrics and the music. The entire time, Harry just watched her write and told her his opinion whenever she asked him. Jessica had always wanted to become a singer. When she was just a little child, she would watch singing competitions with her parents or friends for hours and she would dream about how much she wanted to become a singer too one day. The time she was a teenager, she started writing songs and later on, composed music. Her mother used to write songs, and her father used to compose music, but neither of them had enough courage to play it or sing it in front of a big crowd. So, when she felt ready, Jessica wanted to do what her parents never did. She was good at both songwriting and composing, but what she loved most was singing. She used to stay in her room and sing her favorite songs. Even in school performances, she was one of the kids who sang. People told her that her voice was really beautiful and her songs were great. And the truth was that it was true. She was actually really skilled at it, and she loved it. Her dream had finally come true a few years ago. She had signed a contract with someone. She didn't know who it was, though. Flora knew them, and she suggested that she sign a contract with him. Apparently, they were the boss of a business group. Many famous singers and celebrities worked in that company and she had heard some of them sing her songs on the TV. This company was really famous and well-known. It was called 'L Entertainments,' and the owner had a whole business chain with other groups and brands, such as clothing, jewelry brands, acting companies, and many more. People had heard that it was a family company, so apparently the boss was from a really rich and famous family. No one except her, Flora, Harry and the owner of that company knew that it was her though. She didn't want everyone to know about her. What everyone else knew was that there was a very talented songwriter and composer behind the scenes who signed a contract with that company. Everyone wanted to see their face, but they didn't know anything about them. Jessica was more than okay with that. She was the one who suggested it. She knew how much popularity she would have, and that's exactly what she wanted to avoid. Paparazzi, media, and opinion of the world. Those seemed an important part of a celebrity's struggle. She already had enough things to deal with, and she didn't want to put more weight in her shoulders. When she was finally done, she took out her guitar and started playing the song she just wrote. "That was incredible, Jessica!" Harry exclaimed as she finished singing. "Thank you, Harry." "You should start singing your songs and not give them to others to sing them. You really sing great." Harry encouraged her. Jessica smiled at him and spoke again. "I will do it one day, but no need to worry about that now." As she finished speaking, her phone screen lit up, indicating that she had received a message. She unlocked and took a look at it. It was from an unknown number, but after reading it, she understood that the person who had sent it knew her. 'Remember that favor you promised me?' In an instant, she knew who it was, and the smile she had on her face a few seconds ago disappeared at once. She figured it was Jefferson. Who else could it be? She rolled her eyes and typed on her phone. 'Oh no. What will you make me do again?' 'Why are you so afraid? Did I ever do anything to embarrass you?' She sworn that she could feel him smirking in real life. And that's because he was. 'I prefer not to answer that. Just tell me what you want so I can get over with it. I have better things to do than chat with you.' 'Get ready, I'm coming to pick you up.' Jessica was surprised and puzzled for a moment after seeing this message. 'First of all, you don't know where I live. Second, why in the world would you come and pick me up? Are you planning on killing me and getting rid of the body?' 'Who says I don't know where you live. And don't worry, I won't kill you yet, you're still useful. Just get dressed and I'll come by your house in about half an hour. You'll be my date at a party tomorrow.' Jessica was even more surprised after reading the last part. How did he know her address, and what did he mean she was his date on a party? Why her out of all people. 'You want me to do what?' She texted him a few more messages, asking him what he meant, but she got no reply back. She guessed he was already on his way here, so she started getting ready. "His date? On a party? What is the meaning of this?" "I have no idea. He just said he would come by my house in half an hour, so I have five minutes left." "But he said the party is tomorrow. What will you do today?" "I really don't know what's going on this mind of his." A couple of minutes later, she heard a car horn outside of her house, so she came out and went towards it.
