The girls were still in the car, happily chatting about today's events. They both had the same thought about Karter. He just couldn't believe the fact that Jessica had just broken up with him and wouldn't accept it.
As the conversation continued, Flora said to Jessica, "Don't worry. As time passes, he will understand that you really mean it. You are no fool to stay with a man like him, and if he can't accept this that's his problem."
"You're on my mind!"
They both talked a bit more before Jessica had an idea. "Hey, I was thinking, how about we go shopping today?"
"Oh yes! That's a great idea! I'll pay for everything we are going to buy, of course!"
"No, I have money, don't worry. I write songs after all." She winked playfully at her friend.
"Sure, whatever you say!"
When they reached the mall
They were looking around deciding where to go first.
"Wow, so many shops to buy from!"
"We can't go to all the shops, so we'll have to choose a few only."
"That will work, I guess. Let's go to as many as we can, though. We have enough time and I also want this week to be special for you. It's the first day of your freedom."
"Let's start the shopping then."
And like this, they started shopping. They went to various shops for clothes, dresses and jewelries. They ate at the best restaurant there and had fun as long as they stayed there.
"Flora, I told you not to shop too much..." Jessica shook her head at her best friend's stubborness.
"Oh, come on! You know how I am. When I start, I don't stop so easily."
Jessica couldn't help but sigh at her words and then changed the subject, "Anyway, I think I should go and buy a new house. I can't always stay with you and your family, you know?"
"No! Do you have to? I enjoy it when you are with me at my house. I'm not alone then." Flora pouted, trying to convince her.
"Sorry girl, but you can still come over, and we will have sleepovers! You, too, know I can't stay there forever."
"All right. But I will come and help you choose the best! I don't want my best friend to stay in a house that is not good for her!" She patted her chest proudly.
Jessica giggled at her words, "Of course you will. Let's go now, shall we?"
And with that, they spent at least another 4 hours there ,trying to choose the perfect house for Jessica, as most Flora considered most houses small, not quiet enough, it was too far from hers, no good neighbors and a few more. Some of them were not even Jessica's liking.
Although they were starting to give up, especially Jessica, with Flora's critism, they finally found the perfect house. Not too far from Flora's, quiet and peaceful, big enough, and the best of all, they could decorate it however they liked. They both loved decorating, especially Jessica, from a young age. Even though they didn't decirate much back then, with every opportunity that was given to them, like moving out and helping their parents, they would.
They decided to start buying stuff from tomorrow morning since they were both eager to do that. As for now, Jessica agreed to stay at Flora's place for a few more nights, as she didn't have any furniture.
"Today was so much fun! We have to go shopping more often." Flora clapped her hands excitedly.
Jessica agreed with her friend, "Indeed we have to. I'm not going to waste my time on anyone, like the Carson Family, ever again."
"I hope you mean that. I knew they weren't good for you from the very first moment I saw them. I told you not to accept their invitation, but you didn't listen to me." She sighed at the memory.
"Don't worry, I've learned my lesson. If they ever want me to go back again, which I doubt will happen, I will turn them away."
"Now that is more like it!"
They both talked for a while before they reached Flora's house. Although their day was fun, they spent their night like any other. They just did their night routine and had a late night conversation before falling asleep.
The next morning, they went to buy some furniture for Jessica's house, and almost a week passed like that.
They felt satisfied with the result and they had almost decorated everything, but they still wanted to add some last details to make it even better and more homey, so they went shopping several more times.
The last day of their shopping
"These are the last things we need to get. Let's go find them." Jessica said, checking her list.
"I can't believe it's almost done..." Flora murmured dramatically, lowering her head.
"Well, we would finish it some day, wouldn't we?"
Her friend sighed, "Yes, you're right."
Jessica shook her head at her best friend's childliness. She suddenly looked up, and her expression instantly changed to a rather shocked one.
"Hey. Jessica? What happened?" Flora waved her hand in front of her. When she didn't reply, she continued, "Are you okay? What happened? Cat got your tongue?" She rolled her eyes playfully and followed her gaze. "Wait, isn't that..." She widened her eyes, now matching Jessica's.
"Jefferson Lee..."
