A Word From the TranscriberKatie's language is terrible. She swears incessantly and the form of English that tumbles from between her ruby red lips would be unintelligible to most English speakers in the 21st Century. For the most part she speaks a combination of Cockney rhyming slang and Polari. The reader may at least be aware of the existence of Cockney rhyming slang, whereas Polari may be a complete unknown. Without getting into too much detail, Polari was a form of slang much favoured by homosexuals, criminals, and theatrical types throughout the latter Victorian period and up until the 1950s.
