Patience

240 Words
Frigid wind fills the street, infectious laughter bustling through the air. The world is ecstatic because of the excitement that the New Year always seems to usher in. Peter and Cora are late, per usual. Though they really do aim to be more prompt. It's just whilst moseying about their Upper East Side two-story penthouse, that looks over the Met, time easily escapes them. "Cora we have to go!" Peter shouts while quickly tightening his dark blue tie, combing his hair and spraying his Clive Christian No1. He caught a quick glimpse of himself in the mirror and politely winked. Standing up straight, widening his smile, he confidently says to the mirror "Dashing as always, Mr. Blair." Moments later the echoing of high heels sounded on the marble spiral staircase. No urgency or rush, just patience and grace. Cora hurries for nobody. "Peter darling, did you call me?" Cora's luscious ash-blonde mermaid hair bounced all around her as she entered the room. Eyes angelic and blue as always. "Yes, sweet love, we must get going. My dad has definitely checked his watch by now. Everyone is going to be so excited to see you." Peter pulled Cora into his arms and twirled her around for a spin, dipping her head back and bowing down to meet her lips. "You look absolutely ravishing, by the way." Cora beamed at him, the way she always did and jokingly replied "Waiting on you."
