We go to the armed police holding up a part of the outskirts. *Short burst of gunfire.* They are holding off one of the longest roads, the busiest parts of town, because it has rows either side of restaurants and clubs. Two police cars with four armed police stand; they have all four streets covered. All four are wearing full black armed police uniforms from the helmet to the boots, and they are most probably wearing armed police underwear with socks. Each has an assault rifle, the G36, and a Glock 17 in a holster around their legs. There is also two HK417; one is on the left of cop cars, each of the cop cars blocking the four roads. A police car drives from behind them, parking up beside The church of Our Lady, also the English Martyrs. A police officer gets out, walking over to an armed officer that is on one knee, with the other HK417, that's resting on the bonnet of his cop car, silencer attached, his G36 resting on the floor to his right. The police officer stands beside the armed officer, saying, “The streets look clear from Zs, just drunken teenagers, considering it is two in the morning.” The armed officer says, “Good, can’t let this problem overspill; all we have to do is hold this position until the morning.” A helicopter is flying over behind with a bright spotlight on, sweeping all of the outskirts. The police officer with a stab-proofed vest says, “I am going to check out the infected zone; there could be survivors.” Before anyone can say another word, the armed officer starts shooting. Looking down the scope to an outer circle, to a middle circle with a dot in the middle, that is moving up from a bloodied once white shirted torso to a rotting male face Z that is slowly approaching because of a broken leg, a bullet rips through the z’s head. *Reloading* Moving to a quicker approaching Z. The other policeman spots something or someone moving to the side of them, a z slowly emerging from the smashed-out Chinese restaurant window. He takes the pistol from his leg holster after putting a bullet between the z’s eyes, blood, and brain explode out from the back, falling onto a once pristine draping white table cloth. George is walking down the street alongside the other three; all are staying vigilant, checking in parked or crashed cars for anyone that isn’t a Z yet. They come across the occasional body on the ground or seat, that is when they check to see if there is life, but the Z in them comes out, and they have to quickly, along with quietly, kill them. George says, “Thanks to whoever invented lampposts; without them, we are f****d, especially if you don’t have a torch to hand.” Shane responds, “Most people have torches on their phones now, bud, but true, they are a Godsend of an invention.” George says, “We should go to the sports shop first; we can get more weapons.” They all agree while walking down the street towards the sports shop. Tony, speaking in his Italian accent, says, “This is all we need.” Flakes of snow start falling heavily from the sky. Shane responds, “I hope it doesn’t settle or carry on for too long; we won't be able to see properly, mate.” They all stop at the sports shop; George slowly opens the door to the eerie dark building. All four enter the sports shop; outlines of rackets on the wall, football shirts on clothes rails, and football, cricket, and tennis equipment are on display for sale throughout the store. George asks, “Anyone bring a flashlight?” Adam pulls his phone out, fiddling around for a sec before a beam of light comes from the back. Adam whispers, “Got to love Aye-phones.” Shane whispers in response, “They are the best phone, but I bet they hack into your phones without you knowing, just to spy on your life.” Adams's light keeps swaying, but no one notices a Z with flesh hanging out from his mouth; his once white blood-drenched t-shirt has the company's logo to tell us he once worked here. Adam responds in disbelief, whispering his question, “No chance they could spy on us; why would they?” Tony whispers his response, “They are like our parents, always wanting to know what is happening; I wouldn’t be surprised if they caused this outbreak.” Tony is quickly interrupted by Shane, that says, “Don’t be silly; they want more people on the planet so that they can make more money.” George jumps in, saying, “I think it was tainted meat; we had a new lamb burger that was popular today; also, it being its first full day on sale, now there is Zs. Also, why would the government or corporate companies do anything to jeopardise their safety along with money income? Yeah, they wouldn’t; also, I have no idea why we are all whispering.” Before anyone can respond, the Z has made his presence known to the other three by grabbing hold of Tony. Tony starts fighting with the Z, throwing punches while avoiding being the undead’s next meal. George shouts instruction to Adam, “Point that over here, bro!” The ray of light leaves Tony fighting with Z for a couple of seconds to aid George, that is taking hold of a cricket bat as Shane grabs a baseball bat, and they both swing at Z’s head at the same time. *Crunching* The Z falls to the cold laminated shop floor. Letting go of Tony in the process. Tony says, “Damn! I am surprised his head didn’t explode; thanks.” George says, “You're welcome, bro. You would have done the same.” Shane asks Tony, “I don’t get it; how can a man with so many muscles not be able to fight or throw a hard enough punch to kill a Z.” Tony says, “Come on, man, they are just for the ladies because it turns them wet to have a man that looks this good.” George says, “Not every lady, maybe the pubescent girls' mate, but women want a real man that doesn’t take longer than them to get ready.” They start taking the bats off the shelf while of course George empties the till. Tony responds, “I don’t mind, mate, as long as they are older than eighteen.” Adam fist-bumps him while saying, “Yeah, you know, brother.” Shane asks, “What are you doing, George?” George, while taking clumps of twenty-pound notes from the till, putting them in his pocket followed by the ten-pound notes, even a couple of fifties, happy days. He responds, saying, “Bro, I got s**t to pay. Also, Christmas is coming soon; my daughter isn’t cheap.” Shane says, “I hear that; come on, sharing is caring.” George passes him a bunch of ten, along with five-pound notes, that he puts in his pocket. George says, “There you go brother, enjoy.” Shane responds, “Cheers, bro.” They carry on looking for weapons. They leave the shop; George wears a Home Man United football top over his jacket. Adam is wearing a home Arsenal top over his, Shane is wearing a home man shitty (city) top over his, and Tony is wearing a home Chelsea top over his shirt. George has a cricket bat, while Shane has a hold of a hockey stick; the other two have a baseball bat each. George has a carrier bag also, Adam has one, as well of football shirts, even a Liverpool one for Amelia. They carry on walking towards the centre of the town. The snow still falling heavily, every snowflake settling on all of the objects below the sky. George has a carrier bag in one hand with the cricket bat in the other; they walk in the middle of the cobbled road; besides; on the left of them is a brick wall that leads to one of the city's collages. On the right is a travel agent shop that leads around to an alleyway that separates a once-popular nightclub. George says, “Shhh, listen for a second; I swear I can hear footsteps like marching.” Shane responds, “Maybe it’s the Army.” Everyone stops still to listen; hearing footsteps also groans. From the alleyway three Z’s come bursting out, while another two Z’s come running towards them from behind. George, alongside Adam, drop their carrier bags to defend themselves better. They start fighting with the three Z’s. George jabs at one in the head while Shane runs towards the other two Z’s, jumping through the air, his legs extending sideways, like a prime Roy Keane, two footings one Z while smacking the other Z on his way through. Both Z’s are on the floor now, clambering over one another to get to Shane, that is trying to get back to his feet. George runs over to help him up while the other two Z’s, are being dealt with by Adam alongside Tony, batting their heads to a pulp, like using a pestle and mortar.
