**Clarissa’s POV** I'm on my way back to my room, but Corrigan is still following closely behind me. He keeps his distance, and neither of us has said a word since the meeting with the King. The awkwardness between us is growing by the second. As I approach my door, Corrigan suddenly steps into my path. "You're not going back in there," he says firmly. "Why?" I ask, my curiosity piqued.
