Lessons Learned
PATRICK ARRIVED AT the Reflektions Café before Aunt Grace, and placed their order—one coffee, one chamomile tea, and a small plate of oatmeal raisin cookies. A light kiss on the top of his head served as the hello.
“We did it, didn’t we!” Patrick turned to greet his aunt. They sat together in silence for a few minutes, and while no words were exchanged, they communicated on a higher plane. An important lesson had been learned and Patrick was surprised it involved race, which hadn’t been a major issue in his current life. After further reflection, however, he realized he was always going along to get along.
