Chapter Two

CHAPTER 2

Drew couldn't sleep. He kept on rolling on the bed trying to come up with a good explanation why his uncle would not allow him to join the warriors clan. He was trained for this and he understood that men who joins the warriors clan gives everything up; home, family, and your name. Your life is only a small price to pay when it comes to helping your kingdom and it's people. He was ready for this, it's not like he had a family of his own apart from his uncle's family.

According to his uncle, his father died a long time ago and his mother died giving birth to him. No sisters, no brothers, just him. This has to be his destiny. His sense of hearing picked up a raised up sword about to strike and immediately he rolled out of the bed avoiding the strike. He opened his eyes and glance up to see his close friend.

Rigo leich. Son of Cyrus leich, his uncle.

" Man! What are you still doing on the bed it's morning" rigo's accent was that of a true Deverous and who you would call a handsome man with brown hair and simple body fitness but he was no fighter at all.

Drew stood up from the ground.

" I wasn't aware" he says rubbing his eyes. He was still sleepy you could tell.

" You didn't sleep well last night" Rigo continued. " Let me tell, the same old argument with my father"

" I don't want to talk about it" Drew dismissed as he began losing the ropes of his night gown.

" Okay. I think I may have good news that can help you out" Rigo mentioned.

That got Drew's attention.

" What is it"

" The tournament! The king of Welzynn is hosting a tournament to find out who is worthy and strong enough to sit on the high throne after him since he does not have a son as an heir" Rigo answered grabbing a woodern chair to sit on.

"I want to become a warrior to protect my kingdom not sit on a throne" Drew stated still standing.

" So? It's the same thing man, only you don't just get to protect your kingdom, you control all eight of them" Rigo said.

"Being a king comes with so much responsibility than just control kingdoms, and besides a lot of strong and noble men more than myself will be competing for that throne. I don't stand a chance of winning" he admits.

" You are one of the strongest man I know Drew Dalton otherwise I would have joined myself but am no fighter." Rigo said." Here's the amazing award, the winner marries his daughter the princess, gains half the treasure house gold, and becomes high commander of Welzynn most powerful knights of all eight kingdoms! Now that my man is destiny" he concluded.

Drew was about to speak but Rigo Interrupted.

"Just think about it. The Queen of

Deverous will be arriving in riccon by morning to make the announcement, I heard it from my fatheer last night before you arrived. Don't miss this opportunity"and with that said Rigo left his room.

Few minutes after, Rigo opened the door again just when Drew was about to go bath.

" Almost forgot, you are the one fetching the firewood today" and he close the door again as Drew sighs....

Later on that day Drew was done fetching the firewood and was now smashing it to pieces. It was a hot weather and his face was dripping with sweat but he wasn't the only one doing the job, Rigo was helping him out as well.

" So have you given any thought about what I told you this morning" Rigo cut the silence.

Actually he had thought about the tournament Rigo told him earlier and he has made a decision about it. He was entering it, not because of the kingship and reward if you win but, it was because he needed to prove one final time to his uncle that he off all people deserve an opportunity for the warrior's clan position.

He felt a hand waving at his face. He already forgot Rigo asked him a question.

" Yes I have thought about it... I am bloody hell in" Drew answered without hesitation.

" Yes!! Now that is the spirit man!" Rigo exclaimed and fist bump Drew at the same moment.

" But it won't be about the reward or winning either. I need to prove one last time to your father that am no longer a boy anymore" Drew implied and Rigo nodded.

" Whatever you say man"

They were about to continue when Cyrus approach them.

" Nice to see you both working together. I need to talk to you Drew if you don't mind Rigo" Cyrus said.

" I'll leave you two to it then" Rigo left.

" I know you think am making a wrong decision about you joining the warriors clan but am not, men who joins them have nothing else to lose and no one in their life span to protect other than that of the kings and Queens" Cyrus began. " Their name means nothing else to them anymore"

" I know all of these obligations and rules but this is my destiny. Let's be honest I have nothing left to lose, my family are gone, my name means nothing anymore. I get that you raised me and want to protect me and I am grateful for that, but what about your family who will protect them? I am entering into the tournament to prove my worth to the Queen of Deverous and you one last time that I can do this. You can't stop me" Drew concluded.

" I know. But trust me when I say your name means more than you think and your destiny, is way bigger than you can imagine" Cyrus said.

Drew raised an eyebrow. " What are you talking about" he asks.

" There are things I haven't told you about yourself Drew but I promise to tell you after you and I go for a drink this evening, all of us to celebrate life that the gods have given us and future that lyes ahead" Cyrus answered smiling.

" Okay uncle..am in" Drew smiled back but he was more concerned with what his uncle haven't told him all this years..........
