Let’s Be Friends

We were all pulled out of our thoughts as the school bell rang once, telling us that we had 5 mins to get to our lockers before the 2nd bell rang. We all picked up our bags and headed to our lockers. As we walked through the doors, the scent hit me once again. I followed my nose, and my eyes landed on the boy and Adam's mate. The girl now had the boy’s jumper on, which bothered me a lot. I tuned into the conversation the two of them were having with Mrs. Bax. Thank god for our super hearing. "Well, Mr. Cross, here's your schedule and locker info, and here's yours, Miss Cross," Mrs. Bax said sweetly. Wait, did she say Mr and Miss Cross? As in, they are siblings? Oh, thank Goddess! I turned around to tell Adam the good news, but he seemed to disappear. He must have gone to his locker. I was about to mindlink him when I heard Mrs. Bax call out my name. I slowly turned and walked towards her. As soon as I approached, Mrs. Bax lowered her gaze on me in respect. She was part of the pack and showed me respect. "Rosy, do you mind showing the new students to their lockers and first classes. I will write you a note to show to your teacher if you are late to homeroom or any of your other classes," she asked, making sure her tone let me know that I could say no and she wouldn't mind. But how the hell could I say no. I mean, she just asked me to buddy around my mate and maybe his sister. Hell yeah, I was doing that. "YES!! I'm on my way, don't leave without me," screamed Adam through our mind link. I need to start putting my walls up; god knows when Adam's listening to my thoughts. "Rosy..." said Mrs. Bax slowly. She would have figured I was using my mind link. " Sorry, Mrs. Bax, I just zoned out," I lied smoothly. " Of course I will show them. Let me just text Adam first" I pulled out my phone, and right on time, Adam showed up. "No need, Rosy, I'm right here," he said and smirked. "Oh well, that helps. Now, where were we, Mrs. Bax?" I turned to the kind lady. "Oh, you have to show them their locker, and maybe homeroom and first period. I'm guessing you will need a note to Adam, dear?" she asked. Adam was the chocolate hero, and every teacher loved him. He wasn't just cute and hot, but a nerd as well. "Yes, thank you, Mrs. Bax," he replied sweetly and threw in a big smile that made any girl's heartthrob. But right now, he was getting the reaction he needed from that one heart connected to his. "Alright, here you go, kids." Mrs. Bax handed us our notes." and have a good day, Blake and Cassie," she said to the two new kids. Blake. Isn't that just a sexy name? I felt a shiver run down my spine as I repeated the name. "Keep it together, Rosy," I reminded myself and turned my attention to the two people in front of me. "Well then, I'm Rosy, and this is Adam" I pointed to the i***t that was staring at Cassie intensely. Cassie blushed and lowered her gaze. I elbowed Adam in his stomach. "Ouch, what the hell was that for?" he narrowed his eyes at me while rubbing his stomach. "You're creeping the girl out. Could you stop with the weird stares? It's making her uncomfortable," I snapped. Adam looked at Cassie, who was blushing even more. "s**t, I'm sorry," Adam replied and rubbed the back of his neck. I heard a chuckle, which made my body vibrate. I turned my gaze towards Blake, and he had a smirk on his face. He looked so cute. Oh god, what's wrong with me?! I mentally slapped myself. Blake had ocean blue eyes like Cassie's; he had a well-defined jawline and full pink lips. His dark brown hair was in a mess and made him look hot. He looked muscular as the t-shirt he wore clung to his chest, showing it off. "I'm Blake, and this is my sister Cassie" he introduced himself. Thank god I was right about them being siblings. "Now who's staring?" nudged Adam. He winked at me, and I rolled my eyes. "Sorry," I replied and lowered my gaze, and felt the heat rise to my face. "Isn't that just cute? You should blush more often Rosy, it makes you look even hotter," came a voice from behind me. I turned and almost gagged at who had commented. "Go away, Chris, your wasting your time like always," snapped Adam. I narrowed my eyes at Chris as he looked at me from top to bottom with a lustful expression. "One day, she will cave in Adam, and that day she will realize what she was missing," replied Chris with a smirk on his face. He took a few steps and closed the distance between him and me. "Come on, Rosy, let me rock your world" he winked at me and came closer. I took a step back. I didn't want trouble on the first day back to school. As he lifted his arm to pull me closer, he got pulled back and thrown across the hallway, and slammed into the lockers. I pulled my thoughts together and looked at my hero, and chuckled. "How many times have I told you to stay the hell away from my sister?" questioned my dearest brother. He walked up to Chris, sprawled upon the floor, and pulled him to his feet. "Rosy is off-limits to a jackass like you. So, I will say this for the last time, Chris, STAY AWAY, and I mean far away from Rosy, or I will wipe out your entire lineage. GOT IT!” threatened my brother as he slammed Chris into the locker. I would usually just stand by and watch the show go down cause Chris deserved it, but I didn't want my brother to get into trouble on the first day back to school. "Jay, let go of him," I said as I tugged on his arm. "It's not worth getting into a fight today. Just chill, bro." Jay seemed to relax a bit and let go of Chris. He turned to me "you ok?" he asked and looked me over to see if something was wrong. I rolled my eyes at his typical brotherly action. Jay and I fight and have our up's and down's, but when it came to having each other's backs, we stood by each other no matter what. "I'm fine. I can look after myself, you know," I said as I crossed my arms and narrowed my eyes at Jay. "Yeah, I know. But you’re still my sis, and I will not let him anywhere near you," he stated. Jay was never going to change. I just turned around and walked back to where Adam and the new kids stood. Adam looked torn and pissed, but I didn't question his expression. "Blake, Cassie, this is my twin brother Jayden. Jay, this is Blake and Cassie. They are new here." I introduced them and loved the way Blake's name made me shiver every time I said it. "Hey there" Jay put out his hand, and then man hugged Blake and winked at Cassie. Cassie blushed, obviously not used to so much attention from guys, and lowered her gaze. She scooted closer to Blake. Adam glared at Jay and growled, which shocked both Blake and Cassie, and even Jay. Jay lifted his hands in surrender. "Wow, dude, what's up to your ass this morning?" laughed Jay. *Dude, cut it out, Cassie is Adam's mate* I told Jay through the mind link we shared from being twins. *s**t* he thought back and lowered his gaze from Cassie as a sign of respect. Before Adam could say anything, the bell rang. "Jay, go to class, and we will see you later” I turned my attention to Blake. Jay nodded and walked off. “Your locker is next to mine, and Cassie's is across from Adam's. So we should split up. I will show you to your locker, homeroom, and first period. And Adam will show Cassie to hers. Adam, can you try to find Sarah and see if she has any classes with Cassie that would make her more comfortable." Sarah was Adam's younger sister and Jay's mate. But Sarah still hadn't transformed yet as she was still 16, so she hadn't sensed her mate yet. Both the parents had decided that Jay was to keep clear of Sarah until she shifted. So my poor brother would mope around for not being able to be with his mate. But he was always there for her as her best friend. I found that very adorable. "Sure, Rosy. I will text Sarah and ask her where she is. Till then, I can show Cassie around," he replied, and I knew that's what he wanted, time alone. I smiled at Adam and nodded. But Cassie wasn't pleased about this. She grabbed Blake's arm and looked up at him like she was trying to tell him something. "Cass, it's fine. I will see you at lunch. Go to class and make some new friends. And if you need me, text me, and I will be right there." Blake told her as he comforted her. Cassie looked torn, but she nodded and looked towards Adam, "Let's go," she told him quietly. Adam smiled and nodded, "Blake," he said, "your sister is safe with me, and after I introduce her to my sister, she will be more comfortable," Adam reassured both of them. "Thank you," said Blake, as he seemed to believe Adam. Adam smiled and led Cassie down the hall towards his locker. I turned to Blake, who looked a bit concerned. "Don't worry; Cassie is safe with him. Adam wouldn't let anything happen to her," I said. "Come on; I will show you to your locker." "Rosy..." Damn his voice. I turned, "thank you. Cassie is just shy, but you guys are so lovely and welcoming," he said as he rubbed the back of his neck. "It's ok, don't mention it." I smiled and started to walk in the other direction, with Blake following. Well, that was a great start to the friendship. As we walked down the hall, I could hear Blake's heart rate increase. I looked around and saw that students were staring at him and a few girls even smirking and winking at him. I let out a low growl, which was low enough for other werewolves to hear. Most of the wolves here were from my pack, and they all respected me a lot because of my ranking. My growl reached the necessary people, and everyone turned their gazes away. I slowed down my walking pace and shifted a bit closer to Blake. "Don't worry, they won't hurt you," I said to him and nudged his shoulder. "You seem to be very confident that they won't hurt me," he replied and looked at me with a wary expression. He looked scared, and this bothered me. My mate wasn't supposed to be scared while around me. I put my hand on his shoulder and stopped him. " Your locker is here," I said, pointing to the locker next to mine. He smiled at me and walked towards it. I walked up next to him and opened my locker. I pulled out the books I needed and stuffed them in my training uniform for after school. I pulled my backpack over my shoulder and closed my locker. Blake still had his head inside his locker. "Blake, what class do you have first?" I asked him as I leaned on the locker. "AP Calculus with Mr. Griffin," he replied as he closed his locker. " That's the same class as mine," I beamed. The Gods were on my side today. "Tell me your other classes." "Ummm. I have Homeroom with Mrs. West, AP Calculus with Mr. Griffin, AP English with Mr. Smith, AP Biology with Mr. Butler, AP Chemistry with Mrs. Haynes, and AP Geography with Mrs. Gipps" he read out the list. He was in all my classes. Yes! Well, that saves me the trouble of transferring my classes. "Wow, you have all AP classes. Someone's a smarty pant.” I smirked at him. He grinned and rubbed the back of his neck. He looked so adorable. Just then, the bell went, and everyone started to rush to homeroom. I pulled him aside and waited for the crowd to disappear. In my heist to get away from the crowd, I hadn't realized how close I had pulled him to me. We were practically chest-to-chest and nose-to-nose. I tilted my head up and looked into his blue eyes. I could feel his breath on my face, and the minty breath had my mouth watering. I couldn't think anymore. My mind went blank as I stared into those gorgeous eyes. He stared back into mine, and it felt as though he was looking at my soul, which made me shiver. Someone from behind Blake cleared their throat and brought me back to reality. I looked over Blake's shoulders to see Adam and Cassie looking at us. Adam had a smirk on his face, and Cassie had a small smile. I shook my head and gently pushed Blake aside. "You two done here, or were going to be late to class," said Adam and winked at me. I scowled at him and rolled my eyes. "Have you introduced Sarah to Cassie yet?" I asked Adam. He shook his head. "No, I haven't seen her yet. I texted her, but she hasn't replied, so let's see how that goes," he replied "Ok, Blake and I have homeroom together. Why don't you take Cassie to hers and then to her first class, and I will let Mrs. West know where you are," I told Adam. "Ok, thanks, Rosy. I will see you in Calculus then," Adam replied. I nodded and moved my gaze towards Cassie. She seemed lost somewhere in her little world. "Cassie, you ok there?" I asked her. My question caught both Blake's and Adam's attention. "You just seem lost," I said. "ye...yeah. I'm fine. I'm just not used to this environment, that's all," Cassie answered in a shaky voice. Even I could tell that she was lying. But Blake seemed to understand whatever it was that Cassie was trying to hide. He walked the few steps towards her and hugged her tight. I used my hearing ability to hear what Blake was saying to Cassie. "It's going to be alright, Cass. Just blend in and make friends. Forget the past and move on. The more you dwell on the past, the more it will hurt" was all he said. He pulled her to arm's length and smiled at her before releasing her and walking to my side. "I think we all should head to class now," said Blake and looked around the now empty hallway. "Alright then, let's go. Adam, see you in Calculus. Give Cassie mine and your mobile numbers, so if need be, she can find us even if she can't find Blake," I suggested. "Will do. See you later," Adam replied and led Cassie down the hall towards the junior side of the school to her Homeroom. I turned and started to walk towards my homeroom, which was Blake's as well. Blake stayed close to my side as we walked. My phone vibrated in my pocket, so I took it out and saw a message from an unknown number. I opened the message to see it was from Cassie. She wrote, " Hey Rosy, it's Cassie here. Adam gave me your number, so I thought I should text and give you mine :-)." I smiled at her text and replied. " Hey, Hey Cassie. Thanks for letting me know who it is because I usually don't reply to messages I get from random numbers. I shall save your number. And if you ever need anything, call me or leave me a message and I will get to you whenever I can, ok :-)"... I send the message and put the phone back into my pocket. "Who's the message from that has you smiling like that?" asked Blake. "Your sister's. Adam gave her my number, and so she decided to let me know what her number was. Which I will say is smart thinking," I replied. "Why?" asked Blake and raised his eyebrow. " Because I get pissed off when I get random messages from random people. And 80% send me random things. So I have a little fit about it. And when I do have a little fit, I'm not the nicest person" I gave him a smirk. He laughed and just shook his head. We finally got to the classroom, and I opened the door and let Blake in first. Everyone was scattered around like any typical day. People were sitting with their usual group of friends and talking about how the summer had been. I walked up to Mrs. West and introduced Blake. " Ahh, the new kid. Mr. Principal had told me this morning that I should be expecting you. Anyway, go mingle around and make new friends. I hope you like Excel." Mrs. West gave Blake a warm smile and went back to her papers. "Come on," I whispered to Blake and pulled him to my usual corner of the class, where Jay and some other boys were sitting and talking to a blonde I couldn't recognize since her back was towards me. Jay looked up when he heard me approaching and put his feet down from the desk meant to be mine. I put my bag on it and sat on the chair, motioning Blake to sit next to me. "Blake, you've met my brother Jay" I pointed at my brother, who nodded, "and that's Jason, Vince, and Tom" I pointed to the other three guys. And now, since I could see the blonde, "And this is Cindy," I said, pointing towards her. " And guys, this is Blake; he is new here." Cindy seems to be having a good look at Blake. She ran her eyes from top to bottom before getting up and going to sit on the other side of Blake. Cindy put her hand on his arm. My wolf didn't like how Cindy acted around Blake, but I tried my best to control her. I didn't want to scare Blake on his first day here. "Well, hello there," Cindy purred and rubbed her hand up Blake's arm. " I'm Cindy, and you are?" "Blake," he replied smoothly. He seemed well in control, which meant he had experience with the females. As hot as that sounded, my wolf wasn't very happy. I felt my body starting to shake, so I moved away from the table and shifted away from Blake just in case he thought it. "Well, Blake. Welcome to Greenwoods. I hope you like it here at Excel because we are pleased to have you here," said Cindy, and with every word, she got closer and closer to Blake. By now, I was vibrating in my chair. My wolf was fighting with me to be let out and rip Cindy to pieces for touching our mate. He may not be mine right now, but in the future, he will, and I didn't want anything coming between us. I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths. Cmon Rosy! You have been taught by the best. Chill out! I let out the breath I was holding and opened my eyes. "Thank you very much. Everyone here seems very welcoming," said Blake. And to all of our surprise, he picked up the hand Cindy had on his arm and moved it away. Blake continued, " but I rather not get an STD while I'm here, and by the looks of it, you seem very "Out there." So imma stay away from you," he finished. Even after what he just said, the human me was rejoicing, but my wolf wasn't happy yet, and Blake seemed to notice the discomfort I had. Just then, the bell went, and Cindy stormed off. "Well said, my friend, you will get along with the rest of the group just fine," said Jay and high-fived Blake. Well, they were getting along just fine! My brother and mate having a bond was awesome. We all picked up our bags and started to head towards our class. As we walked to the room, Adam stood at the door with a bit of a sad look. “Hey, where’s Cassie?” I asked him. “Sarah took her. It turns out they share all the classes, so she said she would bring her to lunch as well,” he said with a smile to Blake, but his smile didn’t reach his eyes. *what’s going on?* I mind linked him. *just sad that I would get to see her until lunch. You get to keep your mate around* he replied and rolled his eyes. I laughed in my head and walked into the class. We picked our seats, and Blake sat between Adam and me. Once Mr. Griffin started his class, he asked Blake to come up and introduce himself. He awkwardly stood in the front. “Well, my name is Blake Cross. We just moved into town a week ago with my uncle. It sucked to move at the beginning of my senior year, but everyone here seems nice. I like to play basketball and go swimming,” he finished. Mr Griffin thanked him and asked him to sit down. “Also, Blake, if you are interested in basketball, we have an excellent team here. The team captain is sitting next to you so maybe have a chat about joining this season,” said Mr Griffin and started his class. Blake turned to Adam about to say something but stayed quiet after Me Griffin started his lesson. After an hour, the bell rang, and it was time for English. We all walked out of the classroom and towards the next room. “I didn’t realise you’d be the team captain Adam,” said Blake. He had been thinking about that. Adam laughed. “Well, I’m not. She is,” he said and pointed at me. Blake’s face changed, and he stared at me. “What a girl can’t be a basketball captain?” I asked him, a little offended. “No, no, of course, you can, but we’re talking about the boy's team here, right?” “Yes, Adam was talking about the boy's team. I play on the boy's team. We don’t have a girls team here, and the coach said I played well,” I said and shrugged my shoulders. I felt very offended that Blake didn’t think I was good enough to play ball with the boys. I was lost in my thoughts and didn’t realise we had reached our classroom. We walked in and took out places. Adam must have noticed I was a little lost. *Rosy, what’s up? Why the long face?* he mind linked. *Why does he find it so shocking that I play on a boys team? I find it offensive that he thinks I’m not good enough* *Rosy, he doesn’t think you not good enough. He's just shocked. You need to understand that he's human. He doesn’t know your super strength or about your abilities. In the human world, girls don’t play on boys teams* he replied, and it daunted me. *Adam, you said he's human. Is that why he doesn’t sense I’m his mate?* I replied, and we both looked at each other. *Damn it, I have the urge to hug him, kiss him, hold his hands and make it known that he's mine. But he's just being a normal guy that’s just met me and is awkward. His human. Cassie and him both. Which means that they don’t know how we feel and will just do what humans do.” Adam’s face was pale. We both hadn’t realised that them being human meant we had to win their hearts. They weren’t just going to fall in love with us as we had with them. f**k! We were both so caught up in our thoughts we had noticed that the class was over and the bell had gone. Blake stood up and tapped on my shoulder. “Earth to Rosy. You okay?” He asked. “Yeah yeah, fine. Umm, let’s go for lunch,” I said and quickly grabbed my bag. s**t, this was bad!
