Hurt

“Run Blake run” screamed Cassie.

Someone was dragging her by her hair and she was fighting him. Blake lay a few feet away with blood running down his face. He sat up and tried to crawl towards Cassie. He collapsed and tried to reach out to her. When he couldn’t, he turned around and faced me, my human face pressed against the window.

“Save me....” he yells out and reaches for me.

Beep beep beep!!!

Damn alarm! I thought and hit the snooze button. Thank god I hadn’t broken this one. I rolled over and the sunlight hit my face. f**k, it was too bright. I sat up on my bed and stretched. Looking at the time, it was 7:00 am. I needed a shower and a coffee before school to get me through my day. I didn’t get into bed until 4 am when the next shift started. After Adam and I went for our run, I went for my perimeter duty at midnight. I intended to go back to the bar and follow Jay when he went to drop Blake and Cassie home but we had a rouge spotting and I had to go there. When I got in at 4 am, I almost woke Jay up to ask him but Adam reminded me we’d see them this morning so I went to bed.

I got up and walked into my bathroom. Fuxk I looked like a mess as I stared at myself in the mirror. I had bags under my eyes from the lack of sleep and my hair had twigs and leaves in it. I turned on the water to as hot as possible and jumped in. All the knots and tension from my muscles started to release themselves. I washed myself and my hair and walked out.

I wasn’t in any mood to get pretty so I grabbed the first pair of jeans I could find and a t-shirt. My leather jacket was on my bed so I decided to just wear that. I pulled my hair into a messy bun and applied some cream to my face. This will have to do I thought.

I grabbed my Range Rover keys and headed downstairs. The boys were all sitting at the table having breakfast.

“Morning Rosy. What can I get you for breakfast?” asked Annie. She was our usual cook.

“Coffee please, Annie. Lots and lots of it please” I said next to Adam and rubbed my temples.

She chuckled “Would you like some eggs and toast as well?” she asked.

“Yes please,” I replied and opened one eye to look at her. She knew me too well.

Adam moved a little closer and I put my head on his shoulders.

“You okay, love?” He asked.

“No, I’m not. This late-night duty is killing me. I’m so tired I don’t think I’ll get any schoolwork done today” I rubbed my eyes. “Those bloody dreams aren’t getting any better either”

Adam wrapped his arm around my shoulder. “Rosy, those dreams affect me as much as you now. I really just want to rip apart whoever is causing them so much pain” he rubbed his hand up and down my arm.

“But how do we do that? It’s not like they will just walk up to us and tell us what’s happening” I said.

Blake and Cassie didn’t really know us that well yet for them to confide in us.

“Well, you freaked them both out last night. That was one hell of a ride home” said Jay between his bites.

“What?” I straightened up. “Did they see something?”

“No, they didn’t. But the way you lunged for Cindy and how angry you were, Blake kept asking what happened and if you were okay. He was like why did she react like that? Does she have anger issues? And Cassie was like why was she shaking? She looked so angry” Jay mimicked a girl's voice.

“Ugh! Why am I so stupid?!” I slapped my head on the table.

“Oh Rosy, you’re not stupid,” Adam said and rubbed my back. “You were just irritated and Cindy wasn’t helping the situation. Until Blake is yours this will keep happening. I’m sure if Cassie was getting the same kind of attention, I would be flipping out like you too”

“We can make that happen” Jason piped in and smirked at Adam.

Adam let out a little growl and looked at Jason like he was about to eat him. Jason’s eyes widened and he held his hands up like he was surrendering. We all burst out laughing.

After we’d all eaten and cleaned up, we piled into our cars and headed to school. Adam and I drove towards Blake and Cassie’s place to pick them up. As we were about to turn after the Rangers Club, my phone started ringing. It was Cassie.

“Hey Cass, we're almost there,” I said picking up the call.

“Hey Rosy, it’s Blake. Sorry I didn’t have your number so I called from Cassie’s phone.”

I smiled “that’s okay. Text me your phone number from Cassie’s phone so I’ll have that as well. We’re almost at your house. You guys ready?”

“Actually that’s why I’m calling. Cassie isn’t feeling the greatest today and I might have to take her to the doctor so we won’t be coming into school today.” He said and his voice was a little shaky.

“Blake, what’s happened to her? Do you need a ride to the doctors?” I looked up at Adam. His hands around the steering wheel were tightening and his knuckles going white.

“No, it’s okay. We will manage. Thank you though” while he was talking I could hear Cassie coughing in the background and whinging in pain.

Adam heard it too and he looked at me. The pain in his eyes made my heart sink.

“Blake was already here.” we were already outside their house by then. I hung up and got out of the car.

We walked to the door. A little shiver went through me. It felt like I was being watched. I knocked and there was no answer. So I knocked again.

“Blake, you either open the door or I’ll break it down, you choose” I looked down at the doorknob, listening to the footsteps behind the door. I could hear his heart racing.

The doorknob moved a little and then the door slowly opened. Blake stood awkwardly at the doorway. My eyes scanned him. His jeans were ripped and had blood splatters on them. He had scratch marks on his arms with dried blood on them and red marks on his neck that resembled fingers. As my eyes went to his face, there was a big cut on his forehead and what looked like a forming black eye. His smell was off. It was like the smell I was used to having faded and was replaced by the metallic smell of blood. Something was very off.

“Where’s Cassie ?” Adam desperately looked around. Just then, there was a cough behind Blake and Cassie let out a little cry of pain. Adam pushed Blake to the side and walked in.

“What happened?” That was all I managed. Blake didn’t reply and just walked into the house.

We walked into the living area and Adam knelt in front of a single-seat chair. Cassie was sitting on it looking very pale. She was holding her stomach and slumped back like she was in pain.

Adam was holding her hand and rubbing it with his thumb. His face oozed with concern and he looked up at me.

*Rosy, I can help her. Please let me make it better* he mind linked.

*Adamm... how are you going to explain her sudden recovery?* I asked

*I don’t care. We can tell them. But please do something. I can’t see her like this. Please*

I looked at Blake and he was holding the side of his ribs as well. I stood in front of him and held the bottom of his shirt.

“Don’t move or stop me?” I said and started to pull his shirt up. He didn’t stop me and just looked down. There was bruising from his hip to the top of his ribs. It looked bad. I let out a little growl and Blake looked up at me.

Cassie coughed behind me again and whinged in pain.

“Pack your bags. Grab whatever you need. You’re coming with us. Do not argue with me. I’m really angry and I will carry Cassie and you out of this house if I have too” my words came out in more of a hiss.

“Adam, take Cassie upstairs and help her pack. I’ll go help Blake” I didn’t look at Adam but knew he was moving.

I grabbed Blake’s arm and pulled him up the stairs. We got to the top and I stopped. He nodded to the right signalling which way his room was. I opened the door and walked in.

His room was the size of a shoebox. It started and finished. He had a small single bed on one side and a dresser on the other. He had garbage bags on the floor that obviously held all the belongings he didn’t have space to put. I looked back at him and he was rubbing his side. He must be sore. f**k my blood was boiling. If that man comes in front of me right now I will shred him to pieces.

I pulled him into the room and shut the door. “Don’t move” I pulled his shirt up again. I let my canines extend and pricked my finger letting the blood ooze out. He didn’t see my teeth, he was too busy looking down at his wounds.

There were a few little cuts on the part of his side that was bruised. I placed my bloody finger on the cut and rubbed it in. When Blake realised what I was doing he looked up at me.

“What are you doing?” He asked.

“I’ll explain it all later. Just let me” I looked at him and he nodded.

After I had rubbed the blood in, I placed my hand over the area and Blake tensed up. He jumped a little and grabbed my other arm.

“What was that?” He asked quietly.

“What was what?” I asked

“It’s like you shocked me. This current just went through me” he said looking for answers in my face.

“I told you. I’ll explain it all later please just trust me” I wrapped my free arm around his waist and pulled him close. He was so close his nose was touching mine.

“I promise you’ll be fine. Whoever did this will pay and I will make sure of it. No one will ever hurt you ever again” I said to him and his eyes locked to mine. He looked like he wanted to cry but was trying very hard to keep it together.

His eyes darted down to my lips and before he could react, I pressed my lips to his. I felt him tense up a little before he melted into the kiss and started to move his lips against mine. I lifted the arm I had around his waist and wrapped it around his neck and pulled him closer. He wrapped both his arms around my waist and pressed me up against him. I didn’t move the hand I had on his side.

Our lips moved together in sync and inside me, my wolf howled. She finally was getting to bond with her other half and she was very excited. I am a little too excited. As I went to deepen the kiss there was a knock on the door. f**k Adam!

I pulled away “yeah?” The annoyance clear in my voice.

“We’re ready to go Rosy. Cassie said she’s not feeling too good so maybe we should take her to the doctor” Adam said from the other side.

“Okay, get her in the car we will be right down” I replied. Once Adam had left I turned to Blake “trust me I really wanna carry on with this right now, but we gotta go. Your sister needs medical attention”

“No Rosy, we can’t take her to the doctor. They will report it to the police and because we are minors we will get separated” he was starting to panic.

“Blake, calm down. I have a family doctor at our house. I’ll get him to have a look. You’ll be fine. My dad will sort it out don’t worry. Cmon, gather your things.” I said and moved away from him. I turned around and grabbed a suitcase for him.

“Rosy....” his voice trailed. I turned to find him looking at himself in the mirror. He had raised his shirt and was looking at where the bruising was.

“Rosy, it’s gone. The bruising that was here is gone. What did you do?! You were touching it and put blood on it” his voice full of confusion.

“Blake, I will tell you everything. I promise. But right now we gotta go. Please grab your things.”

10 mins later we were all piled into my car and heading to the packhouse. Adam was in the back with Cassie and I was driving. Adam refused to let her go for even a second. He was holding her in place and she had her head resting on his shoulder with her eyes closed.

“Blake, Cassie just a little heads up” Cassie’s eyes opened “ so we live in a big compound a little bit off the main road. We share the house with lots of people and it’s like a small town where everyone knows everyone. Everyone’s very nice and friendly. We have our doctor and school. I just don’t want you freaking out when you see everyone.” I said and prayed they didn’t ask questions.

I didn’t wait for their reaction and quickly pulled out my phone and called my brother.

“Jay, can you get the doc to come up to my floor. It’s urgent. Also, get Leah to clean out the spare rooms and get fresh towels in there for our guests” I didn’t hear his reply and hung up. He already knew what was happening because he had already seen our thoughts. I was just making the call so Blake and Cassie didn’t have a reason to ask how they knew to be ready.

We got to our turn off on the highway. When I turned towards the forest, I saw Blake tense up a little. I put my hands on his and smiled at him and he smiled back. We drove down the long driveway till we got to the big black gates. The gates started to open and I drove in.

“What is this place ?” Asked Blake as the houses started to come into view.

“My dad owns the mining business that happens behind those mountains” I pointed to the clearing where you could see the mountain “so a lot of the workers come from out of town. Dad builds this place so that the workers and their families had a place to stay.” I replied and it wasn’t a total lie.

Dad did own the mining company and we did have a lot of our pack members working there. But people that weren’t part of the pack and needed jobs lived in a town not here. This place was our sanctuary. We could morph here and not worry about who was watching.

The packhouse came into view and I had Cassie gasp.

“Wow, that’s a huge place” came a small voice from the back seat. I chuckled a little because even Blake’s eyes were the size of a flying saucer.

I parked the car around the back where we had a separate entrance to our floor. I had this part put in for days where we got home late or just needed to sneak away. We got out and I grabbed a few of Cassie and Blake’s bags. Jay and Jason came down the stairs and started helping.

Adam gently pulled Cassie out and carried her up the stairs bridal style. I signalled Blake to follow us. We got to the top and Adam took Cassie to his end of the floor. There was a spare bedroom down that end that was cleaned out for Cassie. The boys took Blake’s stuff away and left Cassie’s one on the floor.

Leo and Julie were waiting for us in the room. He was the pack doctor. Because we healed so fast and had so many other things that normal doctors would freak out about, we had a clinic in the packhouse for all the members.

Adam gently lay Cassie on the bed and walked around to sit on the other side.

“Leo, she’s been in an incident. Can you please see why and where she’s in pain? Julz can you please patch Blake up. He's got a few cuts and bruises” I said and sat down on the bed next to Adam. I put my hand on him and he looked at me.

“She’s safe now buddy. We will look after her. Relax, please. Your stressing is stressing me out”

Leo introduced himself to Cassie and asked her where the pain was and where it hurt the most. She looked up at Blake like she wasn’t sure what to say.

“Rosy, do you and Adam mind just leaving us with doc?” asked Blake.

“Yes, we do. Trust me it’s not like we won’t find out. So just tell him what he needs to know”

Blake looked conflicted but turned to Leo.

“Umm, doc my sister.. she hasn’t had it easy and we sometimes don’t eat meals for days. So her stomach has started to get sore. She has had a few punches to her chest and stomach as well” the words had only left Blake’s mouth and Adam was shaking. He let out a little growl and the anger flashed across his face. I squished the hand I was holding.

*Adam, calm down, please. You’re gonna scare them. They need to trust us right now* I mind linked.

He looked at me and I could feel every emotion he was going through. I felt so bad for him. I rubbed his hand and he went to get up but another hand grabbed him. We both turned to see Cassie holding Adam’s arm.

“Don’t go please.” She said in a soft voice.

Adam’s anger just melted. He sat back down and scooted closer to Cassie and she closed her eyes.

I knew that’s what he wanted. I got up to go check on Blake. He was watching Adam and Cassie.

I put my hand on his shoulder “ you okay?”

Before he could reply Leo called me. I walked over to him.

“Yes, doc?”

“Rosy, we gotta take Cassie down to the clinic. I want to do some scans and put some drips on. We need to find out what’s happening on the inside” he said. I nodded.

“Adam, take Cassie down to the clinic with Doc. I’ll get Blake cleaned up and we shall see you there. Keep in touch with me with what’s happening” I said to him and he knew what I meant. He quickly picked up Cassie and she wrapped her arms around Adam’s neck. He started to walk away.

“Rosy, I wanna go with her please!” Blake tried to get up but Julz sat him down.

“I haven’t finished yet,” she said.

“Blake, finish getting your dressing and then we will go down. Cassie is safe here I promise” I said going to stand next to him and I rubbed his arm.

I nodded to Adam and he walked out the door. Leo picked up his things and followed him. I sat on the chair opposite Blake and watched Julz do his dressing and apply some more cream. After she was done she asked him if there were anymore she should look at. Blake thought for a bit and raised his shirt. I raised my eyebrows trying to figure out what he was doing.

“Is there any bruising here” he pointed.

“No, there isn’t. That all looks fine to me” said Julz confused.

I chuckled “Blake, that bruise has healed please don’t think about it right now” he nodded and looked down at it again.

“If that’s all Alpha then I’ll take leave,” said Julz and collected her things.

“Alpha?” Said Blake and looked at me confused.

“It’s a pet name,” I said quickly and Julz just bowed her head and walked out.

“Come I’ll show you your room and you can change your clothes. Those have bloodstains” he nodded and we walked to my side of the floor. My side had a massive window right at the end that faced the forest. The view was amazing and some days I just stood there watching the view.

We got to the door right at the end.

“This is your room. That is mine” I pointed to the door opposite us.

I opened his room door and walked in. The boys had left their bags on the bed. Blake looked around as we walked in.

“You’re welcome to decorate this room however you choose. The closet is through there and the bathroom is through there” I said pointing to the doors I was talking about.

“Rosy, this is huge. Are all the rooms here this big?” He asked still looking around gobsmacked.

“No, not all. This floor is just Adam, Jay, Jason and mine so there’s enough space to have big rooms. Jason’s room is the next one over if you need to find him. My dads on the floor above us”

I walked over to the bathroom and checked if there were fresh towels.

“Won’t your dad get angry that you’ve brought strangers home?” Blake asked. He was sitting on the edge of the bed looking at me.

“Dad is awesome. He won’t have a problem with Cassie and you being here. He will be excited actually” I walked back to Blake and stood in front of him. “You’re not strangers Blake. You’re family. Please never say that again. I know it’s hard to understand right now but it will all be clear soon.” I touched his cheek and the urge to kiss him was back. Was he okay with me kissing him before?

“I’m sorry I shouldn’t have kissed you like that back to your place,” I said and sat next to him.

He chuckled “I think I was more shocked that you kissed me and I didn’t do it first. It was running through my mind that’s for sure. But can I ask you something?” I said and turned towards me a little. I nodded.

“Well, you said at school yesterday that you were a virgin. Does that mean that that was your first kiss ?” He asked and tilted his head.

My face went red and I knew I was blushing. Fuxk he had to point that out, didn’t he?

I cleared my throat “yes it was. Why was it bad?” I asked a little annoyed.

“Rosy.... I’ve never kissed like that before. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve kissed my share of girls. But our kiss.... it was different. I don’t know how to explain it but it felt like I was electrocuted and I just wanted more of it. Fuxk if Adam hadn’t knocked on the door then I may have just taken you there.” His words made my insides quiver. A different kind of pleasure was bubbling and I’m sure it was more s****l than anything else.

“Trust me, I really just wanna tell you so many things right now. But we gotta go see Cassie. I wanna make sure you both are safe and healthy first” I stood up and pulled a bag open.

The smell in it was horrible. There were clothes but they weren’t in the best condition.

“Blake, what’s this?”

“Sorry Rosy...” he hung his head. “We didn’t have a washing machine and I only got to wash my clothes when I had a shower. So I reused clothes that were easy to wash and wear. Those clothes haven’t been washed in ages” he looked away.

I picked up all the bags I could and walked over to a door on the wall.

“Blake, this is the laundry shoot. Put all the clothes through here and I’ll get them cleaned for you” I started emptying the bags and he brought me the rest.

*Tracey, clothes are coming your way. Can you please burn them? If anyone asks just say that they got ruined in the dryer or something. I never wanna see them again* I mind linked Tracey. She was in charge of our laundry. Since the house was so big we had a big laundry area.

* yes alpha, no problem* she replied.

Once we were done emptying the bags I threw away the bags.

“Come with me” I walked out of the room and Blake followed me. We went back down towards Adam’s side and I walked into his room. He was very tidy for a guy. His room was always neat and organised. I walked to his closet and opened it.

“Go in here and find whatever you like. I’m sure Adam’s clothes should fit you. I’ll wait out here”

Blake nodded and walked into the closet and I closed the door behind him.

*Adam, I’ve let Blake into your closet to get some clothes. Once things are sorted can you please take him shopping and get him some new clothes. I’m gonna guess Cassie’s clothes are in the same state so I’ll ask Sarah to get her some clothes for now and I’ll take her shopping later*

*okay. They have just done the scan and have found something. Doc said come as soon as you can*

*okay, we're coming*

I knocked on the closet door. “Blake, we gotta hurry up a little bit. They’ve done Cassie’s scan and have found something” I said loudly.

The doorknob jiggled and the door opened. Blake was holding the clothes he had changed out of and was wearing a pair of black jeans and a white t-shirt. Adam’s t-shirts were all body fitting so he could show off his muscles to girls and it was as tight on Blake as it was on Adam. But it looked better on Blake than it did on Adam.

I looked at Blake and he could see I was checking him out. I shook my head and turned around.

“Come on. They are waiting for us.”
