14: Confessions

Chapter 14: Confessions (Oliver's POV)

I was almost to Liv’s room when I heard the crash. It sounds like Jace and Damon couldn't wait. I entered the room to find Jace with a crazy happy smile on his face. “I guess you're gonna not just be my Alpha but my brother-in-law as well.”

“That’s the plan. I gotta go. They are at the Wolfe House.” Jace yelled running past me. Did he just say they?

“Do you think Leigh will kill me if I follow you?” I ask but not caring about the answer. I have to talk to her.

“Not my problem,” Jace yelled back speeding out of the packhouse. He was pulling out of the driveway before I even got out the door. Damn, he’s fast.

It took me about 15 minutes to make it to the Wolfe House and that was going well over the speed limit. I pulled up to find Jace’s truck on the grass, still running, door open. At least it was in park. I turned it off and shut the door before walking inside.

The place looked great. You would never know how many wolves were lost here. The loss of the whole Royal Court. It tragic that they were all gone in one attack.

I was standing in the foyer when I heard her giggle. She was walking down the stairs dressed the same as the day I met her. She was turned to look back behind her smiling, she looked breathtaking at that moment. That was until she turned and spotted me. Her face fell. Her bottom lip twitched. I could see tears start to form in her beautiful green eyes. She turned to run but I was already at her side.

“Please just talk to me, Leigh,” I begged. I grabbed her hands and knelt in front of her on the stairs. “Please.” I buried my face in her hands.

“Why? What does it matter.” She replied in a cold tone, pulling her hands back from me. She turned and ascended the stairs.

“It matters Leigh,” I told her as she escaped into an elevator.

I turned to go and that moment the front door opened showing my current Luna, Rachel, entering the house and she looked pissed. “Jace Ashton Wolfe.” She yelled in her Luna tone. “What the f**k is your truck doing on the lawn.”

“I’ll go move it, Luna. I was just leaving. He's busy with his mate anyway.”

“WHAT?” she screamed in such a high-pitched voice I thought the glass would shatter. She quieted down to barely a whisper and asked “Who?”

“My sister, Liv.”

She was back to squealing. “Yes. I hoped it would be Liv.” She gave me a great big hug. “Now once you get that eyesore of my sons moved come meet me in the kitchen. I could use your muscles to get the final touches completed for tonight.”

“Yes, Luna.” Well, I guess I’m not leaving. “Luna, who do you hope Leigh's mate is?” She just smiled at me and continued through the door that I guess led to the kitchen.

I quickly moved Jace's truck to the garage and then went to find the Luna. I also found Alpha James who seemed to be getting an earful about Jace's mate.

“Oliver.” He said with a nod.

“Alpha, sir,” I replied with a small bow of my head.

Just that moment Jace entered the kitchen and he did not look happy. “Ollie your damn girl stole my mate.” He grunted then realized we were not alone. “Oh, hey mom, dad.”

“When were you going to tell me, that you found your mate. And who stole her. Did you find your mate to Ollie?” The Luna asked so quickly I barely picked up that she was talking to me too.

“Sorry, mom. I just found out she was mine not even an hour ago. And Leigh stole my mate.” Jace responded.

“Oh, right, sorry honey.”

“Why did you call Leigh his girl?” Alpha James asked. s**t.

“Because the two of them have been all over each other since school started.” Jace just had to open his big mouth.

The Alpha growled. “We will talk about this later.”

The Luna interjected. “We have lots to do. Now both of you can help.”

“Isn’t today suppose to be our day mom?” Jace whined.

“I now have to add a Luna to the ceremony. The day is now more about her than either of you assholes. Time to get to work.” You have got to love our Luna. She pulls no punches and gives no f***s. That’s just how I want my mate to be. That’s just how Leigh is.

We spent about an hour moving tables and chairs around until they were exactly where the Luna wanted them. As our reward, she made us sandwiches for lunch. Jace was getting more aggravated by the minute that his mate was gone.

We had just finished eating when Luna Rachel became very excited. “The girls are back.” She squealed. Racing to the foyer to catch up to them. She found Liv and pulled her in for a hug. She was crying when she said, “I always hoped it would be you.”

“Thank you, Luna Rachel.” Liv said with a small smile.”

“Don’t be so formal dear. You will be Luna after tonight, so just call me Rachel or mom.” Jace had been inching closer to them as they spoke.

The moment his mom had released her Jace had her pinned in his arms. She didn’t look as happy as I expected. She may still be upset with him. I guess the mate pull doesn’t work that kind of magic.

“We got her a dress fit for a Luna. She will be perfect for tonight.” Leigh told the Luna.

“Thank you, Leigh. I know you had to pull this together last minute. I’m so happy you thought ahead.” Rachel praised.

“Yea. I’m going to go lay down for a bit unless you need anything else.” Leigh started looking anywhere but at me.

“Of course. Are you feeling okay dear?” Luna asked.

“Just tired. Party last night and then we have another tonight. I just want to be rested. No one wants their hostess to go to bed before midnight.” Leigh said still avoiding my gaze. Please just look at me.

“Understood. Be back down at seven so we can prepare for the ceremony.” Alpha James spoke this time.

“Of course uncle Jamie.” She said giving them a small wave before disappearing up the stairs. Lucky was whining in my head. We both wanted to go comfort her so bad. Once I tore my eyes away from where she exited I noticed that my Alpha was staring daggers at me.

“I think we have a conversation to finish from earlier Oliver.” The Alpha said clapping me on the shoulder. “Follow me. And Jace 7 pm on the dot. Do not be late son.”

“Yes sir.” I heard Jace yell back. I was already following the Alpha with my eyes on the floor.

We entered what looked like a conference room with a large table stretched across the space. “Sit,” the Alpha ordered. “I’ve known for years about your shenanigans including Raymond's daughter. If you think you are going to treat Leigh the same way you are a very mistaken boy.” You could hear the growl deep in his voice.

“N.N.No sir… I would… I would never do that to Leigh.” I stuttered. I am a dead man.

“Leigh has been like a daughter to me for a long time. If I catch wind that you are anything more than a gentleman to my little girl, I will not stop my wolf from ripping out your throat.” He stopped and growled again. “Do I make myself clear?” His voice was so deep. You could tell it was now his wolf speaking and it was terrifying.

Lucky had his tail between his leg and his head down as he answered. “Yes, Alpha. Sir. We understand. We would never do anything to hurt her.”

“Good. As our next Beta, she will be one that you will protect. Remember that.” He continued still in his Alpha tone. “Now go.”

“Yes sir. Thank you.” I said as I scrambled from the room.

I needed to find Leigh now. I needed to make sure she was okay. I needed her to know I didn’t do this to hurt her. Lucky followed her scent until we found her past out in one of the guest rooms.

I just wanted to be close to her. I needed to be close to her. I shouldn’t feel a pull like this to her yet but I do. I hope it means she is mine. I stripped to my boxers and climbed in bed behind her. Wrapping my arms around and pulling her close. She snuggled into me and I felt at peace. Like I was home. I was where I belonged. I didn’t mean to, but soon but I drifted off to sleep with her.

***(Leigh's POV)***

I had just pointed Jace to where Liv was still sleeping. I had a huge smile on my face. I was happy for them. They had both loved each other for so long but egos and drama had gotten in their way. Now they would be tied together forever. The Goddess had chosen well for them.

I was halfway down the stairs when I saw him. My heart leaped in my chest. Jade both wanted him and wanted to tear him apart. I just wanted to cry. I felt my lips tremble and my eyes water. I needed to get away but he stopped me before I could.

“Please just talk to me Leigh,” he begged grabbing my hands and kneeling in front of me on the stairs. “Please.” He buried his face in my hands.

“Why? What does it matter.” Jade replied coldly, as we pulled our hands back. I am still too angry to do this.

I ran for the elevators where I knew he couldn’t follow. “It matters Leigh.” Was the last thing I heard as the doors closed. I hit the stop button and sat on the floor. I feel torn. He didn’t know it was her. He thought it was me. Jace saying this time it wasn’t his fault. Could it be his fault next time though?

He told me he was falling in love with me. What if we aren’t mates? What if we are? Being my mate comes with more than just me. It comes with a whole Kingdom. Oliver is smart and strong. He is so insecure though. Could he rule with me? I stood and started the elevator. I had not made any decisions but I needed my Betas. Sorry, Jace but this is what you signed up for.

When the doors opened I was nearly knocked over by Liv. “Thank the Goddess.” She wrapped me in a hug. “I couldn’t figure out how to leave.” I heard crashing coming from Jace’s room. His door opened and I caught his eye. He would not challenge me but he was hurt that his mate was in my arms and not his.

“Come on let’s get out of here,” I told her as I backed into the still open elevator.

I mind-linked Jace “I’ll talk to her.”

“Thank you, my Queen.” Is all he responded.

I didn’t say anything until we were in her Jeep. We had just missed being seen by Oliver as he parked Jace's truck but we managed to slip out behind him. I drove us to the mall. I wasn’t sure what was going on but I knew if she didn’t reject him, she would need a dress fit for a Luna.

We were in the parking lot when I finally asked her what was going on.

“He expects that just because he is my mate now that everything is forgotten. That we are all of a sudden okay. He didn’t even try to talk at first. He just grabbed me and kissed me. Like that would fix everything.” She was upset and Jace did the wrong thing.

“Dumb ass,” I said mentally smacking him in the back of his head. “So what do you want to do now. Do you want your mate or am I going to have to restrain him if you decide to reject him?”

I saw a chill run through Liv at that thought. It was actually the reaction I was looking for. To know that even though she was mad at him, she still loved him enough to not want to reject him.

“No,” she shouted. “I just want him to apologize for being a coward and a dick.”

I laughed, “That’s easy check your phone.” I had read it last night. Call me a snoop. Curiosity not only killed the cat. I guess it will also kill the wolf.

She pulled out her phone and read the open message. I could see tears in her eyes as she read his apology. It wasn’t perfect but it was about as expressive as Jace would get. “Did you read this?” she asked.

“Maybe.”

“Did you know how he felt about me all this time?”

I smiled. “Yes but that was for the two of you to figure out. Just like I knew you were in love with him.”

She smiled. “Well, I guess I shouldn’t get involved with you and Ollie then.”

“No please help me with this one,” I begged. “Am I just some conquest for him or do you think he is genuine.”

She laughed. “Ollie doesn’t chase girls. They fall at his Beta feet with their legs open. You are not a conquest. I really do think he loves you. I have never seen him care. The only other time I have seen him even close to this was with Sarah and she didn’t have feelings back for him. She had no problem taking his virginity though.”

“I hate her.”

“You and me both. She made him insecure. She made him feel like he wasn’t good enough. It’s why he struggles so much with his feeling about you.” She told me. “How do you feel about him.”

“I don’t know. We have been so up and down. I want him. But I feel like there is so much trying to stand in our way.” I sighed before adding, “I still don’t know if he will be our mate or not. I’m afraid of getting hurt.”

“Are you still mad at him?” She asked.

“No, but I’m not sure if we should be together right now or not.”

I think that Liv decided that was the best we were going to get for right now. “So why are we at the mall?” She asked.

“Well my best friend is going to be named Luna of Silver Crescent tonight, so we have to get her the hottest dress ever.”

I think she started to hyperventilate. “s**t. I’m going to be Luna.”

“Yep.”

“Let's go I don’t have enough time for this.” I laughed as I followed her into the mall. What she doesn’t know is that I had foreseen this. I already had three dresses hand-made for her. I just needed her to pick one.

Liv had picked my favorite. It was white and silver. There were crystals adorned all over the bodice. It has a sweetheart neckline, cap sleeves, and a full skirt the stopped just above the ground to give a peek at her killer blinged-out silver heels.

We were done in just about an hour. We grabbed some fast food and to munched on as we drove back to the Wolfe House. We were met by an overly happy aunt Rachel who seemed to make Liv even more terrified. Jace was finally smart enough to capture his mate and wrapped his arms lovingly around her.

I was so caught up in the new couple that I did not notice Oliver right away. He was desperately trying to get my attention, but I wasn’t ready to face him yet. I still had no clue what I wanted. I decided that I was tired and just wanted to escape it all for now. I excused myself to go rest. I removed my sweats and bra, so I was just in boy shorts and a spaghetti strap tank top. I turned on a random movie and was out like a light in seconds.

I woke up extra warm. There also seemed to be something holding me down to the bed. It was heavy and pressed against my chest. Someone was cuddling me from behind. The scent let me know it was Oliver. He smelled like Irish Springs body wash. Very fresh yet manly.

His face was buried in my neck. His hand was up to my shirt and cupping my breast, his entire body was pressed tightly against me including his very hard friend that was pressed against my ass. I tried to squirm out of his grasp only to get pulled tighter into his embrace. He started leaving small kisses on my neck and groping my chest.

“Oliver,” I yelled slapping his arm.

“Hmmm…” Was his only response. That and pulling me even closer to him as he continued his assault on my body. f**k it feels good. Part of me wanted to indulge in how his body feels against mine, the other kept telling me it’s not right. We have been barely speaking. This is not the way to fix this. “I’ll talk you listen, okay Baby Girl. I finally have you where I want you.” His hand had stopped but he didn’t remove it from between my legs. He also didn’t stop kissing and sucking on my neck. An unexpected moan escaped my mouth and he took that as his answer.

“I’m going to tell you the whole truth from the beginning. I just need you to listen to it all okay.”

“Okay.” I breathed out.

“The first girl I was with shamed me for being just a Beta. After that, I screwed around only with those of lower ranks. Dakota was willing. She was trying to move up. I never had feelings for her. It sounds bad I know. She was just an empty hole that I buried myself in while I was waiting.”

“But…” I started and his hand started to move down south. Well, that’s one way to shut me up.

“I asked you to let me tell it all first Baby Girl.” His hand entered my shorts but just rested above my wanting core. Why does he have this effect on me? I just nodded in response as he kissed my neck again.

“The day we met changed everything. After you ran into me I pulled Dakota into the bathroom. I started and finished thinking of you. You stared in every fantasy I have had since then.” His fingers brushed against me as he said this. “Most of them start just like this.” He breathed into my ear as he swirled his fingers around my throbbing nub.

“Fuck.” Was the only coherent word I could say as he entered a finger in me.

“That same day I found out who you were and that you are an Alpha. That crushed me. I should have known. I can feel the Alpha power pour off of you even when your guard is up.” He pushed another finger in pumping them slowly in and out causing my breath to hitch.

“The next week I felt like every outfit you wore was just to tease me.” He stopped moving his fingers but left them inside me. “The night of the party, the way you were dressed.” He started to pump again harder with more force.

His name slipped from my lips as the pressure built in my abdomen.

He sucked harder on my neck before continuing, “When you stopped things that night I didn’t know. I didn’t know how pure you were. You were still what I was thinking of as I took her from behind. “I felt like s**t after that, but you came back. I think you liked it more than you thought you would. My breathing became ragged

“That video of you and Sam.” He growled in my ear I could feel the vibration of it through my whole body. “Nothing tops Wednesday though. It wasn’t just what we did in my room. You fell asleep in my arms and agreed to stay. The next morning I was the happiest wolf in the world.” He picked up his pace and this time he let me come. He still kept me pressed close to him as my breathing evened out. “Then you disappeared on me.” He was still telling his story. I could feel a wet spot on my back. I guess he finished with me. “I don’t know why but I understand whatever it was. Friday you were back. I know you came upstairs for me. I know that it hurt seeing Dakota there. I wanted to kill her for causing you to run from me. I had told her days before that we were through. That you were what I wanted. She didn’t listen. I’m so sorry that it hurt you. I never wanted to do that again. I just want you. I’m afraid though.”

I turned in his arms to face him. He pulled me on top of him, as I wrapped my legs on either side of him. He kept his arms around me tightly.

“I’m afraid too," I told him with a shy smile. "What scares you the most?”

“That you are an Alpha and the Goddess won’t make you mine because I’m just a Beta. Alpha females always get paired with Alpha males. What chance do I have? I’m falling so hard for you Leigh. I can’t have you taken away from me by your mate.” He kissed the top of my head.

“I stayed away because I was afraid you would meet your mate. I couldn’t be there. Jade would have killed her. I couldn’t do that to you. I couldn’t take away your mate, because I want to be your mate.” I responded in barely a whisper. I angled my head up to kiss him again. We were so wrapped up in each other we didn't hear the door open.

“Hey, Leigh we need to start getting ready,” Liv announced as she walked into the room. “Oops” She quickly walked back out closing the door behind her.
