Chapter 38

"This whole place went down in flames as if it doesn't exist in the northern region." The spirit chuckles monotonously. He's at the peak of his limits after taking more damage than his master. His hands are trembling as he reached her. Both of them are helpless at the very moment; wounded and bleeding hardly, near to death, and can't wield magic. He can't even lift his whole body to stand. They're in the front of their University, finally away from the area where the god found and help them.

Everyone is in a rush after the first explosion. Fighting every monster that'll destroy the walls. Aibek cast a barrier that surrounds both of them before he disappeared like a bubble. The light for the seven moons vanished and worst, the monsters keeps on infiltrating the whole place. Another outburst rings in his ears that almost deafens him.

"Hold on a second, my lady. We'll get out of this place. I assure your safety." Ellistal uttered under his breath. He's lightheaded and the agony crawls all over him. His master is the only one that makes his eyes wide open even though he warns him to close them.

"Hold tight..."

"Creating trouble as always. You haven't changed for thousands of years, aren't you?" A familiar warmth touched his cheeks, causing him to close his eyes and allow its heat to soothe the unbearable pain for ordinary creatures. A warmth that comforts him thousands of years back before he meets the cold depths of the underworld. The place where he witnessed every soul marching towards their final judgment.

"There's a student here!" Someone yelled but for him, it was like a voice screaming underwater. He doesn't understand everything much. Random people's voices seem that coming from a small gap underground. Ellistal turned into a sudden panic after finding out that he's not existing on his master's side.

"She's one of the participants! Where're her teammates?!"

"They're greater than the number, Zachary!" Kellion yelled after taking down two savage creatures. Julius, Freddy, and Mattheo are far from them. In the hope of stopping the monsters to scatter around. Zachary throws away from him the corpse of the monster that slithers on his feet offhand.

"Did I miss the best part, my majesty?" Salem asked as she make away into the destroyed area. Zachary turned at her with a glare, "Where did you go?" The girl unbuttoned her worn-out coat and then dropped it to the ground.

"Just chased a flying monster that escaped from them. They got themselves scattered around. Lady Selene and the other mentors are dealing with them."

"These puny creatures dissolve my patience away." Zachary tugged his sleeves upward while the frost advanced stealthily from his feet, "Is this the part where the so-call good boy gone bad?" Salem stared at the broken barrier as the blue flame engulfed her arm.

"I was never been like that." Ice and flames fan out on the space; coming from both opposite directions Eliminating everything along its way. Zachary's substantial ice stretches around them and sheaths each part of the broken barrier; suspending the monsters to get inside again. The malevolent fire expands inside the whole ice barrier and digests raging beasts.

"The whole celebration will be canceled for two weeks and I can't believe that my daughter is in this horrible state. She hasn't woken up in days and it makes me worried." Lily said before caressing her daughter's hair. Winston looked at the six other students sitting at the infirmary's bed. Lady Marionette put them under Lily's observation due to the injuries that some of them have. Freddy, Mattheo, and Julius are distracting themselves by playing while Zachary and Kellion are observing the oblivious girl. She's been unconscious for days after the incident and hasn't woken up yet.

"It's unexpected, Mrs. Chivalry. The barrier that prevents the monsters from the valley entering. So far, Lady Marionette and the five universities' administrations are investigating that matter." Zachary explains. Lily haves a deep breath and then leaned on her daughter's bed, "Those barriers cannot be destroyed just by the raw monster's strength or any type of magic but still, it's a mystery that those monsters disappeared on their own and leave no trace."

"We're the only team who got left in the field after the five teams evacuated. We are looking for her everywhere but she's out of sight." Lily glanced at Kellion then give him a lopsided smile, "Those wounds are not from any monster or some debris from the explosion. I know that because my magic cannot heal it."

"More like something beyond that,"

"What do you mean, Zachary?"

"I can't explain it completely but I think it's something beyond that, Mr. Winston."

"Tell Mr. Winston about that, Kellion. Salem is not here."

"Her familiar is injured too. Primordial spirits are also the spirits coming from the depths of Devaiah and are strong rather than those nature spirits that wander around. Because of their strong magic, they cannot be injured easily, and their core cannot be shattered." Kellion paused, "Primordial spirits often can be a weapon spirit if the wielder and spirit both have mismatched energy, it harms both. In their case, their core is annihilated. Two terrible results might occur. First, the wielder can't use their magic anymore, and second, the contract that they sealed may get destroyed."

"I'm sorry if I'm going to say this but, seems like both of them are just standing in a narrow soil." He added before turning away in bitterness. Zachary let out a small yet menacing growl. He probably hates what the harpy beside him says.

"We haven't met her familiar before but we know it's a spirit. We want to talk to him about what happened to both of them. I also need to confirm if I can fix their cores."

"Mr. and Mrs. Chivalry, I know someone who can do that but I don't think that someone would agree," Zachary and Kellion looked at each other, causing Kellion to laugh nervously.

"Who's that someone that you're talking about?"

"Heilderwyn and Zenith."
