"Matt--"
"Don't speak regarding that, Freddy. I already attend the class." Mattheo cuts the elf off. Freddy gives Mira a look of confusion then turns back on the lion shifter, "I'm just asking for a pen." The shifter didn't speak a word and started rummaging on his bag.
"Thank you."
"Pleasant morning, Elite Class - A." The whole class' attention got stolen by the presence of their principal who made her way to the front. Everyone went silent. Inside those four walls, the inaudible random noises succumbed due to Lady Marionette's dominant aura.
"You must be mystified for the reason why I here." She chuckled. Their books shone in a warm shade of blue. Mira moved her arms away when her book was cast open, Lady Marionette holds one as well, "Lady Selene and Lady Lyra are both sent on the mission so today I will discuss how each magic practitioner will choose their weapons and the chronology of the weapons. Please take a look at your books. Not on your seatmates not to the person you have fond of."
Lady Marionette tapped her long nails on the wooden table, making the windows close and the curtains prevent sunlight from penetrating through.
"To channel your energy, you must focus on your cores and allow it flow." She placed down the book, "I know all of you are mindful of it. Familiars, on the other hand, can be the spirit of ancient weapons. Sometimes those ancient weapons are granted by the Gods and Goddess themselves or the demons that practitioners have a contract with. Also, those weapons matched the wielder's core frequency."
"Once those magic practitioners held the unmatched weapons, many probabilities are coming along the way. It harms one another. Keep it as a mental note."
"So, let's change the topic. Since the mentors aren't present the training will be postponed for a while, is that right Salem?" Salem took a glimpse of Zachary before getting on to her seat.
"Lady Marionette gave a word about that, the participants should train themselves even the mentors are away. None of us should skip a day or two."
"Lady Marionette doesn't need to remind us about it," Zachary grunted. He stared at the empty plate in utter annoyance. Salem ignored Zachary's remarks and looked directly at Mira. Asking for her opinion in silence.
"Fine by me." Mira smiled.
"Opposite attracts," Freddy laughs then grabs a chair for him while Mattheo withdraws the seat beside him.
"Then let's sneak in class and go to training after." Julius declared openly; his voice is full of confidence. The man beside him rolled his eyes in irritation as he stabbed the food.
"Are you serious?"
"I can give you my hundred percent of assurance that even you want to sneak out too. Let's hang out on the plaza."
"The guards will catch us." Zachary retorted. Julius held his chin; thinking for another option. After a minute or two, he lifted his gaze with a cheeky grin.
"Training room?"
"In all of your idea, the training room is the best option for me to hug you tightly on your neck, my majesty."
"I would take that as a romantic gesture."
"He's killing you."
"I don't care. Let's go to the cafeteria first before going to the training room, how does it sound?"
Lady Marionette's eyes wandered off to them. She raised a finger. Flickering lights surround her index like a cloud of fairy dust falling off. Mira stared at it, mind filled with astonishment. She simply rubbed the shivers to get rid of her skin. The chalk buoyed up and created a dead set against the classroom's grand writing board.
"Like meeting the primordial spirits, we can say having an ancient weapon as scarce as hen's teeth. Only a few of them are recorded in history books or other kingdoms' scrolls. However, one or two of them are written on nine kingdoms scrolls." Lady Marionette paused, "I'm sure some of you have been paid a visit in your imperial archives and read it."
Not the slightest bit of them spoke up and no one dared. Lady Marionette's shoes tapping on the floor forged a profound silence against everyone. Mira has her eyes and ears on their principal, doesn't pay any attention to random things. The two males beside her got their sight to wander around. Somnolence already invaded their minds. Lids are urging to close any moment from now. Zachary, Julius, and Kellion are exchanging looks of mischief. Simply motioning something to each other. The rest of the class is giving attention to their principal.
"Just listen, dammit!" Kellion commanded in a half-whisper and half-yell tone.
"This is detention if she caught us." Julius covered his mouth then hung his head low. Zachary fiddle with the current page while keeping his attention on the front. Kellion, sitting beside Julius covered half of his face using his book.
"You can't snatch away the opportunity to go outdoor just like that without Salem's ability."
"For heaven's sake, just tell her our reason. Stop bothering Salem." After the man sitting beside Julius whispered that, Zachary leaned on his desk; hands arched and covering his mouth.
"I'll take Mira with me." He declared in a serious demeanor. Julius tugged the hem of Kellion's sleeve after he turned at Zachary with a furious expression written all over his face. Zachary recognizes those brows that almost got knitted defined how short will he tolerate him.
'Birds with the saw feathers stick together. That line always came up on my mind when they greeted my sight.' Zachary forced an innocent smile, pushing further the man's patience towards its peak.
"Dammit, let them study in peace."
"Quit cursing, Kelly." Julius nudges his shoulder.
"I will once both of you knock some common sense in your minds. F*ck that nickname."
"Geez, cut the crap. He always cusses, Julius. I'll sneak out with Mira. That's final. There's no fun without her."
"If you want to get yourself screwed, don't bring someone," Kellion uttered in annoyance, "If you may, my majesty." He added sarcastically.
"Lady Marionette knows my habit of sneaking out when it comes to the things like this. I can't shift or use any magic." Zachary's gaze roamed inside the four walls, searching through the small details for escape.
"She knows that letting the window open during the class is not a very wise decision. You always jump when there's a chance. That's why none of them are lowering their guards down when they entered this classroom." Julius snaps back. He seated straight; remained facing the principal ahead of them.
"That's a childish habit. I already get rid of it years ago." Zachary defended. Julius and Kellion did ignore Zachary's reasoning himself. They thwarted their concentration to Lady Marionette despite the disbelief on thought. Disbelief in a way of irony. Silently saying 'preschool children are those only who believe in you.'
"If we can't do it now, I have another plan," Zachary mumbles before tearing a piece of paper and writing down something then handing it to Julius. The shifter went back on listening.
"Lady Marionette." Aquarius raised his hand. He didn't fail on calling out Lady Marionette's attention.
"What is it, Aquarius?" He steals a glance in Julius' direction then pointed them, "Levine and his friends are trying to sneak out."
"Is that true, Levine?"
"We don't know such a thing." Zachary defended and shook his head. Kellion crackled his fingers while looking at Aquarius, Julius turned at him with a glare.
"Grim heard them too."
"Aquarius is telling the truth. They're planning to find a way to sneak out, Lady Marionette."
"Wow. The spotlight is all yours, Aquarius." Kellion clapped slowly, making Mira and others' attention stir in their direction.
"Ditching your class it's not pleasant. You're elites."
"So?"
"Excuse me?"
"Are you sure it's us?" Julius asked calmly.
"Quit denying."
"Quite being obsessed in attention. If you want it all then it's yours."
"What do you want to happen, huh?!"
"That's enough, all of you."
"Get out Heilderwyn and Julius." Lady Marionette announced as she pointed to the door. Both of them walked towards the door with an unsettled expression. Zachary waved them goodbye yet Lady Marionette narrowed her eyes at him, "You also, Levine."
"Why me? I'm not doing anything."
"Get out." Zachary shrugged before leaving his spot. He marched out of the classroom with a victorious grin.
"Mission success."
"I want to get out of this class and eat," Freddy murmurs yet immediately sits straight when Lady Marionette glanced in his direction. Too frightened by their principal's gaze, the elf gathered himself quick as lightning.
In the meantime, Mattheo placed his arm between his two fingers and pulled his skin. He groaned silently while his eyes watered in an instant. He rubbed his arm before listening again. Staying awake is what he currently aims at the moment. He doesn't want to shut his eyes either, knowing if he accidentally did that it'll be asleep.
'This drowsiness attacked me at the wrong time of the day.'
Lady Marionette drifted down to the lion shifter who merely make himself awake. She noticed him in a bat of an eye. Mattheo swiftly read the situation and shook his head, shaking away the drowsiness as hasty as he can.
"Are you feeling well, Mattheo?" Lady Marionette asked gently. Shaking the lion shifter back to his senses. Mattheo rubbed his eyes then replied with a nod, "There's just dust got into my eyes but I'm fine, Lady Marionette. Thank you for your concern." But then, Lady Marionette gives the impression of being fed up in the previous conflict.
"I don't want those students who don't pay any attention to my class, get out you two." Lady Marionette pointed at Freddy and Mattheo. Still angered by the scene earlier.
"Zenith, it appears to be you wanted to follow them. Leave now." Salem lifted her head then strolled outside while rubbing her eyes.
"See? If Lady Selene and other mentors are tolerating you for sleeping in their class, I don't. These kids nowadays."
After moments of silence, Lady Marionette straddles on the chair harshly. She slammed the book in anger then lifted her gaze at her remaining students. Mira awkwardly drifted her look on the window facing the hallways where Zachary's back greeted her sight then back to her book.
"Primordial spirits previously coexist with every species' ancestors. Right before the prime war expanse to seven continents." Lady Marionette looked at Mira, "Three wars sweep off our realm, killing half the population and causing the Primordial spirits' existence to come to an end. They vanished like a bubble popped into the thin air. So as the ancient weapons." The chalk started to move on its own. Jotting down the lines to form letters.
'Ancient weapons.'
"The historical weapons told to be manipulated by the chosen elemental magic practitioners. For example; wind, water, fire, and earth. Out of those four main elements, there are only two cited in books and scrolls."
"The ancient weapons of earth and water," Mira speaks out with a low voice. Lady Marionette hummed and nodded, "That's right."
"Earth and water's ancient weapon created an appearance right before the primordial war."
"Oh, Mira is the only one left inside."
"We should let her study if that's what she wants, her parents might kill me if they found out that immediately after." Zachary stared at the giant tree behind the main building, "Also remember, she doesn't agree on this plan in the beginning."
"I just wanted to eat but Lady Marionette kicked me out."
"Because you're such a glutton. All you think is concerning on food even in the middle of the class." Mattheo murmurs, "Sometimes when I woke up I saw you in the kitchen turning inside out like a raccoon."
"Hey! I can't recall on my mind doing such an empty-headed undertaking!" Freddy stands up for himself, laying hold of everyone's awareness.
"Isn't true? Zachary saw it too."
"Even you?!" Salem fiercely faced him, giving him a 'you don't need to scream or else I'll stick up your mouth' glimpse. Freddy ease up his head then bit his tongue as if he's suppressing something. Freddy crossed his arms when his self-consciousness enclosed him.
"Lady Marionette is not looking, let's eat in the cafeteria."
