“Ellie, love, I need to leave for a while.” I woke up with Kaleb showering me with kisses on my forehead and my cheek. I was too sleepy to open my eyes. “Hmm? What time is it?” I asked. After last night, I could only remember Kaleb picking me up and carrying me all the way to his bedroom. “It’s almost three o’clock in the morning. I have to go to the old mansion with the guards.” I was suddenly able to open my eyes. “Three? It’s too early. What are you going to do there?” Even with the dimmed light in his bedroom, I could see the worry written all over his face. Something bad must’ve happened. I sat up on the bed, grabbing Kaleb’s hand. “Is everything okay, Kaleb?” He wiped his face with his hand as he let out a frustrated sigh. “There has been another breach on one of the barriers.
