Chapter 2: Let's Break Up

1610 Words
Annie shook her head, her soft voice was hoarse, ‘I'm fine, thanks ......’ She braced herself and stood up from the ground with great difficulty, the abrasions on her legs and the scratches on the soles of her feet caused her legs to weaken in pain, and her whole body fell back again. But in the nick of time, a strong and powerful arm encircled her waist and scooped her into his arms. Annie crashed into Jack's embrace, and was instantly wrapped in the cold and cold scent that only belonged to a man's body. Her hands out of instinct against the man's chest, palms tightly pressed against the man's robust pectoral muscles, even through the material can clearly feel that blood spurting muscle texture. Annie only felt her palms burning, subconsciously pushed away the jack in front of her, but she did not want to push away, but instead was violently picked up by him. She couldn't help but knit her brows, a coldness unconsciously condensing at the bottom of her eyes, ‘What do you want to do! Let me down!’ Even though she had known Rennes for three years, the two of them had only held hands, and the strange man's sudden move instinctively made her feel uneasy. jack lowered his eyes and looked at Annie with a frank gaze, ‘You're hurt, you need to go to the hospital urgently now.’ ‘I-I can walk by myself.’ The close contact between the two made Annie very uncomfortable, the cold breath of the man's body swept through her nostrils, as if it surrounded her from all sides, a certain string in her body was inexplicably in a taut state. ‘Don't move.’ The man's low voice carried an undoubtedly commanding tone, instantly dispelling all of Annie's struggles. The moment she was stuffed into the car, the oncoming cold wind made Annie stifle a sneeze. jack raised his hand to turn off the cold air, and glanced at Annie's thin body, bringing his own jacket over and wrapping it around her, ‘Beware of catching a cold.’ ‘Thanks.’ The jacket was not only stained with Jack's breath, but also retained his temperature, which inexplicably made Annie's heart palpitate for a while. Jack's eyes skimmed over a blush on her cheeks, and a fleeting smile swept across the depths of his eyes, ‘The one who should say thank you is me.’ ‘What?’ Annie looked at jack . Jack looked at her with open eyes, his low voice was unhurried, ‘Thank you for being willing to accept my apology and giving me the opportunity to make amends.’ The car travelled quickly and eventually arrived at a nearby hospital. Annie insisted on walking on her own, so Jack patiently accommodated her limping steps until he took her to the emergency room. When she came out of the emergency room, from afar, she saw jack with his back to her not knowing who he was talking to, and seemed to have seen her figure, hurriedly hung up the phone and walked over quickly, ‘This is my contact information, if you have any problems, you can contact me.’ ‘I have no additional claims.’ Annie politely declined the business card the man handed over, there shouldn't be any other involvement once things were settled, dragging things out was her least favourite way. She paused briefly and handed him her jacket, ‘You can have the clothes instead, I'll pay for the dry cleaning.’ jack Looked at the clothes Annie handed over, the tip of his eyebrows rose slightly, his eyes were heavy with a soft smile, ‘You need it far more than I do right now.’ It was just a simple sentence, but it somehow made Annie's eyes water. She thought it must be because she had been hurt so deeply today, otherwise how could she have been moved by a random word of concern from a stranger? ‘Thanks, I'm fine, I'll go first.’ Annie refused jack's help, she needed to go back to Lu's house now to settle something very important. jack stood still and looked at the slender, thin back, a ghostly light swept through the depths of his dark eyes, ‘We'll meet again.’ Annie limped into her wedding room with Rennes, looking at the empty room she knew that no one would come back tonight except herself. Her eyes finally landed on the two pictures taped to the door of the room, Annie stepped forward and ripped them off without a moment's hesitation or reluctance. The white decorations in the room were so distracting that Annie simply cleaned everything up, and finally her eyes fell upon the picture of her wedding to Rennes. She stared at it in silence, the pain in her eyes fading to indifference, and picked up a pair of scissors, piercing the picture of a smiling flower. After cleaning up all the traces, Annie sat alone on the sofa, from dark to dawn, just when Annie felt dizzy, there was finally a ringing sound at the door. Unlike in the past, when she went up to greet them with joy, this time Annie just sat quietly on the sofa. Rennes saw that Annie's face did not have a trace of guilt, he sat on the sofa and pinched his temples tiredly, ‘Get me a glass of water.’ Annie sneered, ‘ Rennes , we're breaking up!’ The voice was loud and clear, with unquestionable determination. Rennes gazed at her with dark and deep eyes, not knowing what he was thinking. Annie looked at him, the corner of her mouth curled up into a sarcastic smile, ‘Why bother showing that expression? Didn't you already have this plan the moment you abandoned me from the wedding ceremony, or even on the first day Eileen returned to China?’ Rennes picks up a carton of cigarettes from the table, shakes one out skilfully, lights it, and takes a deep drag. After a moment of silence, he coldly said, ‘Separation is the best choice, after all, you misunderstand Eileen too deeply, continuing to entangle will only make Eileen continue to be hurt.’ Annie gazes at the man in front of her for an instant, and smiles coldly without hiding it, ‘I'm really curious, for Eileen what else are you unable to do!’ Rennes extinguished the cigarette in his hand, some impatience hidden between his brows, ‘I have tried to forget Eileen in these three years, but emotional matters can never be forced, I hope you can forgive me, and I also hope that you won't be angry with Eileen because of this, she is innocent.’ Hearing his words, Annie uncontrollably burst out laughing. It's been three years, they've been living together night and day, she tried to do everything right, thinking that love can change a person, and that her passion can eventually cover his heart. In order to him, she gave up some, not hesitate to turn against her family, but in the end, all she got in return was a sentence of ‘forcefulness’. Rennes looked at the seemingly insane Annie, frowned, a brief tingling sensation came from the bottom of his heart, ‘There is one million in this card, enough for you to go back to the countryside and live in peace.’ It turned out that in his eyes, his three years of dedication was only worth a mere one million. But how does he know that a mere one million is not worth mentioning in her Annie's eyes! ‘ Rennes, I don't want anything other than you with you, I don't care about the glory and wealth of the Lu family, and I don't care about the enviable title of Mrs Lu!’ Annie's delicate face seemed to be covered with a layer of frost, only a piece of indifference and determination remained in her eyes. ‘I don't accept any form of apology or compensation from you! Just remember, you and I will never reconcile!’ After saying that, she stood up and walked towards the door with her head held high. Rennes looked at her resolute leaving figure, his heart felt like it was clenched by something, his breath stuttered, and he couldn't help but stretch his hand forward a little. When she left, Annie didn't take anything with her, but she took the man's blazer by mistake. She walked down the street with a pout, still feeling cold from the bright sun, and pulled out her mobile phone and dialled a number, ‘Belize, can you pick me up?’ Twenty minutes later, Belize pulled up in front of Annie in her red supercar. She looked at the white bandage on Annie's leg and pulled the sunglasses off her face as she did so, intense worry lingering between her brows, ‘Baby, what's wrong with you this?!’ ‘Belize, can you take me in for a while?’ Annie spoke breathlessly, leaning back in her seat a little tiredly, her tone flat as she went over what had happened with Rennes, the cloudy tone like she was telling someone else's story. ‘ The whole Rennes family is stupid! What kind of thing is she, Eileen, to be compared to you?!’ Because of her anger, Belize's car speed also increased unconsciously, but her mouth was like a machine g*n. ‘If it wasn't for you, why did Rennes think he could climb up to this position with his little skills, by virtue of the fact that he's a blind and deaf bastard? Or is it because of his shamelessness in taking advantage of the situation?’
