Jacob had ended up really tipsy by the time he was done with the wine, which was really understandable because he was the one that drank almost everything, while I had only been taking in small small sips here and there. Jacob and I now text back and forth really frequently, which I was also glad about. For the first time in my life, I had someone else to text apart from Avery, who’d be super excited to talk with me, and I was really glad about that.
Avery and I ended up going out a day after the disaster that happened between jack and I took place, and I had felt too down spirited and sad to even bother to search for a potential person which I could hook up with. Avery had been shocked when I had informed him about about all the took place in my life from the day I had gone for the night I had gone out in hopes of hooking up with Jacob, to the night taking a complete different turn. And how the meeting had been fairly manageable until we both got left alone and then everything became ugly chaos, then to how I had invited Jacob over to talk to him about all that had taken place at the office between Jack and I.
Avery hasn’t wanted it to be obvious at first but I was able to figure out what was up instantly, Avery had gotten a little bit jealous when he found out that I called somebody else that wasn’t him, in order to pour my heart out to the person in question. I tried to explain to him that it wasn’t like it seems and that no one was going to take his place in my life, and that I was just making a new friend, that’s all. It took a little more convincing to make him finally let go of the issue.
I wasn’t joking though, Jacob was no way near taming the spot or my best friend in my life. Jacob was very cool and all, but I think it was going to take a herder try for him to be able to take over Avery’s spot in my life. I mean, upon all what we had shared together, i didn’t think it was going to be easy for me to give Jacob a hug the way I’d do to Avery. I mean, Avery and I freaking cuddled each other, despite me being gay and him being straight.
I haven’t even shared an actual hug with Jacob yet.
I sat up slowly and puffed out a deep breath, and I pulled the sunglasses I currently had on off my face, before starting to care my fingers through my soft hair. I was seriously thinking of changing the color of my hair. It has been crossing my mind for a really long while now, perhaps I could give it a blonde color or a grey color, I knew those color was going to fit me so damn much. I wanted to go for a light color because my natural color was a dark black, so it would make sense for me to go for something lighter if I was going the antificial way now.
I hugged one of my knees to my chest and then I shifted a little on the blanket I was currently sitting on until my back was leaning against the wall of my apartment, and then I stared yo into the sky once again.
My dad had zero complaints over the meeting which had took place three days ago, when I had been thinking he was going to have a whole lot, because of some of the things which I had made a mistake at, like where I had to ask Mr Scott what plan B meant. I had been thinking that Eric was going to offer me some assistance back at the conference room where the meeting was hosted, but zero help had come; not like I ever got to a spot where I had actually needed one.
The only part where I knew that I had almost flattened really well, was when I had walked up to the stage like part of the conference room, and I had no idea on what topic or page they actually were at the meeting, and after some time, I had seen where Jack had marked on his files which he left on the high table even though he knew damn well that I was with my own files.
This thought right here had thrown me into a corner when I had remembered about it yesterday, when i had been making dinner for myself, and as soon as I remembered it, I began to rack my brain over and over again. A part of me recollected a particular part where he had tapped on the file which he had marked with his pen, before he had walked past me towards his own seat, when I got asked to takeover the meeting, but then the whole thoughts got so jumbled up inside my head, making me shrug all those thoughts out when it felt like my mind had almost started to make things up for me.
The sound of my phone ringing made me jolt a little and I glanced around a little until I found it and I stretched forward and picked it up, and on drawing it forward, I realized that it was an unknown number. I hesitated for a few moments, contemplating on if I should go ahead and accept the call or not. I ended up accepting the call when it ended and started to ring again a few seconds after.
I didn’t like the fact that it was an unknown number but I ended up pressing the phone against my ear either way, but choosing to remain silent, waiting for the person who had placed in the call to be the one to break the silence.
The telltales sigh of the person breathing lightly in the background made me roll my eyes in irritation and I was almost ending the call before a part of my mind asked me to wait for a little more while, since it wasn’t like I have something else to go do or something.
“Do you always remain this silent after answering the damn phone?”
Everything stood at a standstill at first before a dark scowl made it way to my face in the next fleeting moment and I let out a small scoff as I sat up more straightly.
“You’ve got to be f*****g kidding me.” I spat out and I pulled the phone away from my ear to stare at the unknown number for a few seconds, before placing the phone against my ear once again.
“I only asked a simple question.”
“f**k off my phone, Eric.” I snapped out after a moment, scowl still intact on my face.
“Oh, relax cousin, you think I’d willingly give you a call on my own accord?” Eric responded in a voice that was bitherline teasing, a voice that was getting on my mind so damn much.
I don’t think I can ever not hate Eric.
“I don’t care if you’re willingly doing this or if you’re being forced to, just f**k off already.”
“Can you try to chill for a moment? I’m trying to pass a message across to you for f**k’s sake.” He snapped back this fine, and I felt the side of my lips twitch a little. Eric was someone who took so much pride in the fact that he has a very firm self control no matter what was being thrown at him, it was why I always derive so much glee from the fact that I can also be able to make him lose some grip on his self control.
The annoying fool.
“Can you tell the person who sent you to me to try to get to me themselves? Or to f*****g leave me mail or something, that’s so much better than me having to listen to your voice over the phone. Listening to your voice in person is already t*****e enough to my poor ears, I don’t want to put myself through the agony of listening to your voice over the phone when that can be perfectly avoided.”
“You’re so annoying, jeez. Believe me when I say I’d rather do the most harvest work in the entire world than to listen to your whiny voice, but here I am doing this because I was asked to, and unlike you, I actually hand some respect for elders.”
I scoffed as soon as he was done speaking, the strong urge to end the call was making the pad of my thumb to itch a little.
“Oh yeah? Well, that’s your damn business. You know I’ve never cared about any of that to begin with, so you mentioning it right now is kind of pointless, don’t you think?” I snapped into the phone, throat straining with the strength in which I used to keep my low lowered.
“Of course it is. It’s why I’m more favored than we know who.” He pointed out in a sing song tone and I felt my scowl darken almost immediately, with something inside of my twitching a little.
“That’s still your damn business, get the hell of my phone and don’t ever call my phone again.”
“Well, I only called you to inform you that your mother had been trying to reach you to no avail, she said to tell you to give her a call since you can’t bring yourself to answer your mother’s calls, you annoying little –”
“Thanks for passing the information across, now f**k off my phone.” I snapped, my eyes crossing a little in anger and tiredness at the thought of my mother going to all these trouble just to speak to me, when I do not want to speak with her.
She was really trying to make up for her past mistakes but I was currently at a certain point in life where she couldn’t really make up for all what she didn’t do back then, because it was already too late for that… at this point, it was making me uncomfortable and making me get a little bit irritated.
“You had better give her a call, you asshat.” He drawled out.
“Go to hell, Eric.”
“I’d take you with me, definitely.” He responded with a chuckle that made me scowl once again.
“So, your mum was also wondering if you’d want her to get the both of you the same kind of house, so we’d match– or for her to get houses beside each other…” He began to speak once again and that pang that I had always felt since I was a little kid tugged at my chest which started to ache instantly.
I didn’t even know that she was planning on getting my cousin the same birthday gift as myself, and for a while back, I had been thinking it wasn’t going to be like that anymore, and that I was going to be treated specially than Eric, because I still had that notion in my head that I deserved to be treated a little differently and specially from my cousin at least.
The ache in my chest deepened in the next second.
Eric started to say something again when I failed to respond to him and I ended the call without saying a word, allowing my head to fall against the wall softly as my eyes slide close, my chest heaving a little as I dragged in deep breaths.
My phone started to ring after around a minute and I glanced at it to see that it was an unknown number, which made my ignore it became I have no strength to listen to Eric anymore.
The phone continued to ring over and over again until I let out a frustrated growl and placed the phone against my ear.
“What the hell is your problem, Eric? Can’t you leave me the f**k alone for heaven’s sake? Do you derive so much joy from making me feel like you’re way better than I am or something?” I growled into the phone aggressively.
A few seconds passed and no response came forth. I let out another frustrated growl and was about to end the call, when a very deep and familiar voice made me freeze up.
“Uh, I’m not Eric though.”
It was Jack’s voice and I felt a small shudder slide down my bare spine as his deep voice washed over me really slowly.
