“Come on now, don’t beat yourself up over it, I know you will make her pay, dearly, I just want you to be fine, for us.” She takes my hand and places it on her growing belly. I kiss her forehead and then her lips, lightly.
Landon returns, “I have passed on the instructions. The pilot is ready, we can be on our way back now.”
I nod, “get everyone outside, I’ll be with you in a few.” Landon nods gives Nova a silent salute, smiles and heads off.
I take Nova in a big hug, sadness washes over me, I am about to leave her behind again. “It breaks me deeply that I have to walk away without you, yet again, whatever it takes, I will make sure that everything is sorted out before the end of next week so that I can bring you home.”
