Jade knew she would have to get out of her stage clothes so they could be returned to show’s wardrobe department in preparation for the next night’s show, but since Perrie arrived in her dressing room, she hadn’t be able to tear her eyes off the girl.
They sat side-by-side on the couch, fingers intertwined, while Perrie talked about how much she liked the concert, but more so the song Jade had written for her.
“I never thought anyone would serenade me with a song just for me, let alone in front of a crowd of over fifty thousand people,” Perrie spoke in shock.
“Was it too much?” Jade asked, suddenly feeling self-conscious.
“No!” Perrie quickly reassured her girlfriend, causing relief to flood through the brunette, “I was actually really sweet. And kind of the best way for you to reveal who you were to me. I’m a sucker for big romantic gestures.”
“I figured as much,” Jade smiled, before adding an addendum, “But also Leigh-Anne helped a bit.”
“When did she figure it out?” she questioned, she’d been too focused on finding Jade after the concert that she hadn’t really been paying attention to anything Leigh-Anne had said.
“Only last week,” Jade gently squeezed the blonde’s hand. “If it makes you feel better, she figured how who I am all on her own. Apparently I wasn’t exactly subtle when it came to explaining to you where I was, and since she follows me on i********:, she figured it out.”
This time it was Perrie’s turn to blush as she spoke, “I have to be honest, if you hadn’t invited me, I never would have even thought to come to one of your concerts. I mean, obviously I know some of your songs, who doesn’t? But Jesy and Leigh-Anne are the really big fans. Now is different, because duh, but I just thought I should clear the air and…”
Jade was only registering half of what Perrie was rambling about, just enough to understand the gist of it and not mind in the slightest. Her focus was more on the animated look in Perrie’s blue eyes, and the specks of green around her iris that she’d never been able to see through Skype before. “You’re eyes are incredible,” she interrupted the rambling girl.
Perrie was obviously taken off guard by the interruption and stumbled over the last half of her sentence. “What?” she asked.
“I just,” Jade paused momentarily, “You’re eyes are like really blue, but they also have little specks of green and they’re just gorgeous. And I just noticed.”
Perrie grinned, “Thank you.” She had long since gotten past the petty girl talk that girls did, where one compliment demanded another. She’d learned to accept the compliments she got fully and to give out compliments without instigation and without expecting one in return. She’d told Jade this during one of their first conversations.
“Perrie?” Jade asked, still staring at the blonde’s eyes. Perrie nodded. “I know when you first came in here you probably all up on adrenaline and everything which is probably why you acted the way you did, but I was wondering if it would be okay if I kissed you?” Jade’s words were awkward and her cheeks tinged pink as she spoke. And when Perrie didn’t respond immediately, the brunette moved to pull her hand from Perrie’s, but Perrie held it steady.
“It may have been adrenaline that caused me to take you by surprise and kiss you, which looking back was probably inappropriate, but that was literally the cutest way you ever could have asked to kiss me,” Perrie giggled, “Yes Jade, yes you can kiss me.”
Jade smiled in return before placing a hand behind Perrie’s neck and pulling her in close to her. The kiss was slow and chaste, but meaningful as they both knew it was coming, unlike the first time. The kiss stayed chaste, as many first kisses are wont to do, but was cut short by Karl’s interruption.
Jade audibly groaned in frustration at the sound of her door opening, knowing that it was her cousin and manager. “Hate to interrupt,” Karl began as he poked his head in to the room, “But We need to get everything settled for tomorrow’s show and get out of the venue. I think Normani might have invited Perrie’s friends back to your penthouse, so if you two wanted to head there with them, your car is leaving in twenty.”
Jade turned to Perrie to get her opinion on the matter, “What do you think?” she asked.
Perrie quickly glanced at Karl before returning her gaze to Jade. “Are there going to be a lot of people there?” she asked tentatively. Jade could practically see the wheels turning in Perrie’s head, she could basically guess her train of thought. There were still many things she was getting used to, such as having a girlfriend, having a girlfriend who was incredibly famous and having the potential to be put in the spotlight herself.
“No!” Jade quickly reassured the blonde, “The penthouse it literally just me, Ally, Normani, Camila, Lauren, Dinah and Cher. Karl is staying in the same hotel as well along with the rest of our crew, but I can’t imagine many people are coming over. In fact, it’ll probably just be Fifth Harmony, Cher, Jesy and Leigh-Anne, maybe Karl and us if you’re comfortable with that.”
Perrie quickly squeezed Jade’s hand and nodded, “I can handle that. I’d like to meet them all anyway. I know you’ve mentioned at least Ally in the past, but I think you just called her A.”
Jade laughed as she remembered the way she’d started to call Ally, ‘A’ after hearing that Perrie called Jesy, ‘J’. “I thought her name was too unique that it would have given it away.”
“Makes sense,” Perrie nodded, “I guess maybe I should go wait outside while you get ready then?” Perrie asked as she pointed towards the door that Karl had somehow snuck back out of.
“You don’t have to go,” Jade practically pouted.
“You have to get changed though, don’t you?” Perrie asked.
Jade nodded, but it took her an extra second to understand what Perrie was implying. She could feel the warmth of a blush creeping up her neck, “Maybe you can just turn around?” she suggested, “This might be kind of selfish, but I want to be the one to introduce you to everyone.”
“It doesn’t matter if it’s selfish, because I would sort of rather wait for you to introduce me anyway,” Perrie agreed. She then stood up, Jade immediately missing the warmth of the woman who’d been sharing the couch with her. “I’m going to turn around and you’re going to quickly get changed so you can show me off to your friends.”
Jade giggled, but quickly pulled herself off the couch anyway. She quickly moved to the other side of the dressing room to leave her costume behind and change in to jeans and a tank top. After taking of her concert top, Jade noticed that the way the mirrors were situated made it so that Perrie could still sort of see her. Perrie noticed this at the exact same moment as Jade, and Jade could see through the mirror the way Perrie’s eyes dilated as they took in the skin Jade had exposed.
The brunette grinned at the girl, and realizing she was caught, Perrie blushed and quickly turned away. Jade pulled on her tank top, then approached Perrie. She kissed the girl on her cheek then grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the door, “Alright,” she spoke, “Time for me to show you off to my friends.”
