CHAPTER 5 THE WORLD OF THE AWAKENED

Blaze entered the room, her curiosity piqued by the noise she had heard. "You found your powers?" she asked as she stepped closer to Toby.

Toby, still lying on the bed and groaning, replied, "Yeah, it's gravity."

"Gravity?" Blaze looked perplexed. "That's weird. I've never heard of a power like that."

Toby, seemingly undeterred, smirked and asked, "I'm cool, right?"

Blaze, with her characteristic directness, retorted, "Or you could just be a piece of trash," wiping the smirk off Toby's face instantly.

Toby chuckled at her comment. "Well, that's new." As Blaze made her way out of the room, she left him with a final remark, "Get some rest. Tomorrow is going to be a long day."

Once Blaze had left, Toby stood up, still stunned by the newfound revelation of his powers. He recalled reading somewhere that the maximum gravitational force a human could endure was about six times Earth's gravity. Curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to test his limits. Toby began by concentrating, slowly summoning the pressing force of gravity around him.

He intensified the gravitational pull, and soon, he could feel the strain on his body. His knees began to buckle under the force, but Toby persisted. However, within minutes, the sensation faded away, and he couldn't replicate the effect.

Perplexed, Toby attempted to increase the gravity once more, but no matter how hard he tried, it seemed to elude him. Then, he felt it—a small c***k in the wall around him. The realization struck him like a bolt of lightning. His power was far more potent than he had initially thought.

Toby immediately canceled the intensified gravity, sweat glistening on his forehead. "Damn, that's powerful," he murmured to himself. He surmised that the gravity he could control was well beyond what an average human could withstand for a significant duration. Humans might adapt to long-term changes in gravitational force, but it would take years, and they would likely have perished long before adaptation could occur.

Blaze instructed him with a serious tone, "When we get to the Awakening Registration Center, just act cool and don't reveal anything. Let me do the talking, okay?"

Toby nodded in agreement, understanding the importance of keeping his powers a secret.

Satisfied with his response, Blaze clapped her hands together and announced, "Now, let's have some breakfast, and then we can get moving."

After a hearty breakfast, Blaze and Toby headed out. However, when they returned to the hotel's reception area, they encountered different staff. Blaze smoothly handed over the room keys and received a package from the receptionist, which she promptly passed on to Toby. It was a smartphone, but not just any smartphone; it had unique features tailored to the awakened community, including chats and news.

This new device opened up a world of possibilities for Toby, and he couldn't help but marvel at how different his life had become in such a short time. With the package and smartphone in tow, Blaze led Toby to the hotel's garage, where a striking red Ferrari awaited them.

Toby couldn't hide his astonishment. "Is this also one of the perks of being Awakened?" he asked, his eyes wide with wonder.

Blaze chuckled at his reaction and replied, "No, I just bought this yesterday."

Toby's jaw dropped. "I didn't know you were this rich."

Blaze explained that Awakened individuals could make a substantial income by taking on missions and tasks, often compensated in power credits. She revealed that one power credit was equivalent to approximately $10,000, leaving Toby stunned by the immense wealth that could be accrued in their world.

Overwhelmed but excited for what lay ahead, Toby climbed into the sleek Ferrari as Blaze beckoned him to join her. The engine roared to life, and they set off on their journey to the Awakening Registration Center,

The Awakening Registration Center stood tall, a featureless skyscraper that didn't reveal its secrets to the outside world. Toby and Blaze arrived at the reception desk where a silent understanding occurred between Blaze and the receptionist. Blaze placed her palm on a small glass screen, and a holographic image of herself appeared. Toby caught a glimpse of her registration information, indicating her power as Grade C9. However, he knew she had already broken through to an even higher level. But he decided to keep quiet and let Blaze handle the situation.

The receptionist inquired, "How may we help you today, Miss Blaze?"

Blaze responded with confidence, "I'm here to register someone and to request a class upgrade."

The receptionist nodded, "Very well, then. Please follow me."

She led them to a narrow elevator that looked like a glass tube, and they stepped inside. As the elevator descended, it passed through a brief period of darkness, only to emerge into a hidden underground world – the realm of the Awakened.

Toby was awestruck by the sight that unfolded before him. The underground space teemed with Awakened individuals, each displaying unique abilities. Some were flying effortlessly through the air, while others exhibited powers that defied conventional explanation. It felt like a scene from a surreal movie, and Toby couldn't help but marvel at the incredible diversity of powers and talents on display.

With a mixture of curiosity and anticipation, he prepared to enter this remarkable world and begin his journey of self-discovery among the Awakened.
