The night air was shattered by the sound of snarling and snapping. Kael’s instincts kicked in and he lunged into action, transforming into his wolf form. Ryker followed and together they are ready to fight back.
The attackers, a group of rogue wolves, had caught the pack off guard. Lyra’s pack member fought bravely, but they were outnumbered. Kael and Ryker took some of the attackers, their jaw snapping as they took out the rogues.
Kael’s eyes locked onto Lyra, who was fighting off multiple attackers. He fought his way through the crowd, his teeth bared into a fierce growl. When he reached Lyra, he stood by her side fighting in perfect sync.
The battle was intense but brief. When the dust settled, the pack had emerged victorious but not without losses, Lyra’s pack members tended to the wounded, while Kael and Ryker help clean up the damage.
After a while Lyra approached Kael, her eyes filled with gratitude, “Thank you for your help back there, you’re a skilled fighter” she said. Kael’s face warmed with a hint of a smile “ I’ve had my share of battles, but we can’t let our guard down. These rogues might just be the beginning of a larger war”.
The pack healers, a group of skilled women with knowledge of herbalism and wolf physiology, tended to the wounded. Lyra moved among them, checking on each injured pack member, holding their hands and collecting some of their pain, offering words of comfort.
When she came to Kael who was sitting on a rock, his shirt torn and bloody, Lyra’s eyes narrowed. “You’re hurt”. She said, her voice soften with concern. Kael shrugged, wincing slightly. “Just a few scratches, I’m fine”. Lyra’s gaze lingered on him, and she reached out to gently touch his arm. “Let me see”, she said, her fingers tracing the wound.
As Lyra’s hand touched Kael skin, a spark of electricity ran through both of them. Kael’s eyes met with Lyra’s and for a moment, they just looked at each other, the tension between them was obvious.
As Ryker surveyed the damage, his eyes narrowed, and his mind worked over time. Something didn’t add up. The attack have been too well coordinated, too precise, Ryker instincts told him that there was more to the attack.
He approached Lyra, his voice low and urgent. “Alpha, I think we have a problem, this attack doesn’t feel right. I think we might have a traitor among us”.
Lyra’s expression turned serious, her eyes scanned the area. “What makes you think that” she asked.
Ryker hesitated, unsure how to share his doubts, “ just a feeling Alpha. But I think we should investigate further”.
Lyra nodded, her mind racing. “ you’re right Ryker let’s look into it”. As Ryker nodded and began to investigate, Kael watch with interest. He had a feeling that Ryker’s suspicions might be more than just paranoia.
