After the song I rushed to the balcony through lot of people trying to congratulate me on the song but I just smiled and thanked them as I continued to go through them to the balcony.
When I finally reached the door, no one was there so I sadly walked out in hopes to think of any place she could be at other than the blacony.
Oh yeah, the roof. I looked up and saw her looking up at the sky. Damn she’s beautiful.
“You don’t like crowds I presume?” I shouted and she laughed down at me. “Not really, I loved your performance though.” She shouted back.
“This is not the way a normal conversation is like.” I shouted and she shrugged. “Normal is boring.” She shouted and I nodded.
“True.” I shouted. “Wait there, I’ll come right up m’lady.” I shouted and she laughed as I made my way up to the roof by climbing the vines on the side of the house.
“You’re crazy. Be careful.” She shouted and I waved her off trying to focus on my climbing but it wasn’t a long way up anyway since it was just a one story away.
As soon as I landed she punched my arm. “That’s not the normal way to get to the roof, you could have taken the stairs you know.”
“Normal is boring.” I told her and she laughed. “You’re crazy.”
“What can I say, the things I do for a pretty girl like you.” I told her and she blushed, “Although I haven’t seen your face yet.”
She looked down for a second as if contemplating whether to take it off or not.
“Such a mysterious girl, why can’t I see your face?” I asked her and she blushed. “Do you wanna see it that bad?” She asked.
“Well, you’ve seen mine so it’s only fair I see the face of the girl I just climbed a wall for.” I teased and she laughed.
“Well played.” She said taking it off. “See, was that so bad? Why hide it off? You’re so beautiful, love.” I admitted and she blushed even more.
“What’s that beautiful thing?” I asked her pointing at her necklace. She looked down as soon as she realised what I was talking about and smiled. She took it off and examined it in her hand, reminising it.
“This was my 10th birthday present from my mum and dad.” She said as she opened her hand for me to look at it.
“My father and mother were both music lovers and they raised me to be so too.” She said as I read what was engraved on the pick.
“Where words fail music speaks.” I mumbled, “Wise quote.”
“My dad always used to tell me stories about him and my mum, how he proposed to her in song, how many times he wrote apologising songs to her when he screwed up and every song he wrote for her birthday or anniversary.” She said laughing.
“My dad was terrible with words when it comes to speaking but he could form those words into lyrics and express himself in music. My mum too. For every birthday, celebrations, whenever I was sick and each time before bedtime she would sing me a song that her and dad would have wrote.” She said.
“Her voice was so beautiful, god I miss them.” She said sadly. I could tell she does, I’m guessing both her parents are dead.
“Anyway, that was embarrassing. Especially in front of you.” She said composing herself.
“What? No no, I can only imagine the pain of loosing both parents and how such a gift is so sentimental to you.” I told her and she nodded.
“So, I’m guessing you’re a fan.” I told her and she blushed and nodded.
“Don’t worry as much as I’m dying to I won’t ask you for a selfie.” She said laughing.
“Nonsense, get over here.” I told her and whipped out my phone. I did my password and opened my camera.
We took a photo and I opened my twitter, luckily enough I was logged in on my normal account not the James one.
“Tell me your username I’ll dm it to you or better yet I’ll post it.” I told her even though I knew it by heart and she blushed.
“No, just dm it to me. No need to post it, I just want to keep it as a reminder that I finally met you.” She told me and I nodded. “It’s ellalovesmusic”
“Okay then, too bad I was gonna caption it ‘my favourite fan’ but whatever.” I teased her and she laughed.
“Well I’m flattered but no thanks. I’m sure there are better fans than me.” She said and I shook my head.
“I love all my fans but just between you and me,” I told her whispering, “They’re crazy.” She laughed and nodded.
“Yeah, I guess.” She agreed and we both laughed.
“Hanging out with you here has been amazing, much better than a stupid gala.” I told her. “Helped me get my mind off things.”
“Well, FYI I organised this gala and I’m glad I did, being famous is stressful isn’t it?” She teased.
“What? You organised it? I thought that Lucinda witch did.” I told her and she laughed. “Finally I’m not the only one that calls her that.” She said laughing.
“She’s my stepmother, I’m her assistant and well yeah, I organised all this so that she can take the credit. But now that I know that it’s stupid, I’m glad Lucinda gets to take the credit and not me.” She said and I laughed.
“Well, It’s not the gala itself that’s stupid.” I told her. “I just wasn’t in the mood to go out today.”
“Oh, I see.” She said and I sighed. “Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.” She said and I started. “Have you ever kept something big from someone that was so much pressure for you to bare on your own but you still kept it from them?” She shook her head and I continued.
“That’s exactly why I didn’t want to come here tonight.” I admitted. “I’m kinda hiding something from the boys, I want to tell them but I’m afraid of what they would think, you know?” She nodded and continued to listen. “I made a huge decision and now I’m scared that maybe I shouldn’t have but when I think about the reason why I did it I regret ever thinking that because I got something so beautiful and precious out of it. But at the same time, hiding it from the boys is stressing me out. I take every opportunity to avoid them but I know I have to confess one day or another.” I finished and I could tell I confused her.
“Do you want to know what I would do?” She asked and I nodded. “I think I would tell them, this situation alone is wearing you out and you need their support which I’m sure they would give you.” She said. “Whatever it is, I’m sure that if you think it was the right decision then the boys will support you, no matter what and if you have a good reason then I’m sure there is no reason for the boys to neglect you or anything.” She finished.
“That is unless you’re pulling a Zayn, then I will hate you for crushing my heart but support you anyway.” She said and I laughed.
“Louis said the same thing but I’m not “pulling a Zayn”.” I told her and she laughed. “Good.” She said winking and I laughed.
“So, Lucinda. How the hell do you live with her?” I asked her and she shrugged. “I’m still trying to figure that out myself.” She said laughing.
“I’m not suppose to be here you know.” She said. “She said she doesn’t want to be seen with her assistant so she made me stay home.”
“But you’re here.” I told her and she smiled. “Yeah. Mr.Richardson saw me on the roof soaked from the rain playing my guitar after he drove her here and he gave me my mother’s dress to come here and a mask. He’s so nice, he’s the only nice person in my life.”
“This is your mother’s dress?” I asked her and she nodded looking down at it. “Pretty isn’t it?”
I nodded but couldn’t miss how her eyes glistened with tears. I gave her an encouraging smile and tried to change the subject.
“So what do you do aside from assisting the devil?” I asked her and she laughed.
“Well I’m dying to graduate so I can escape the castle and find another one.” She teased and I laughed.
“I see. Then I take it you’re too busy to go get lunch tomorrow?”
“Maybe.” She blushed. “Then how about this. I’m going to give you my number and you can text me when you graduate so we can celebrate your freedom.”
She blushed but nodded. “You would really want that?” She whispered with big eyes.
“Why ever not?′ I asked her and I could tell she was insecure. “That achievement deserves a big celebration no?”
“Well, yeah but millions of other people graduate why would you want to celebrate mine?” She asked and I smirked.
“None of them are you.” I simply replied making her blush even more.
“Consider yourself lucky then.” She smiled and nodded.
“It’s a dream come true to just be talking to you here right now. You know, I organized this gala knowing that you would be here and I would at least see you from a distance. I thought that would be so awesome and then Lucinda forbid me to come and I was so upset and here I am now not only talking to you but making plans for graduation. Do you understand how happy I am? And how lucky I feel? I don’t want to sound like a stupid fan even though I know I am but I don’t know if I’m making any sense.” She said and I nodded.
“I get it. And I know. It’s one of the reasons why I asked you out.” I told her and she gave me a confused look.
“One of?” She asked and I smiled.
“So curious are you?” I teased her and she blushed.
“Sorry. I’m just wondering what other reasons there might be.” She answered.
“You’ll know. When the time is right. I’ll tell you but not now. I don’t want to expose my thoughts to you just yet.” She laughed and nodded.
“Okay okay. Then how about that number and I promise you I won’t leak it on the internet.” She said and I smirked.
“How will I ever be sure?” I teased her and she shrugged.
“Here’s mine you don’t have to give me yours.” She said as she took my phone from my hands. I still held her necklace in my other hand for some reason I hadn’t given it back to her and she had forgotten about it too or else was too shy to ask for it back.
“Here.” She gave me my phone and I smiled. “Thanks. I’ll text you. Just when is graduation though?”
“In a month. July 5th.” She said and nodded.
“I can’t wait.” I told her and she smiled shyly. “Me too.”
“So I have a month until I see you? I think I need something to keep me motivated until then.” I teased.
“Oh yeah like what?” She asked and I stepped closer to her smirking.
“I don’t know. Something. Anything.” I whispered.
Her phone started ringing and we parted just as I was about to lean in.
“H-hello?” She stuttered. “Yeah? Okay I’m on my way.”
“I gotta go. Mr Richardson is suppose to pick up Lucinda in half an hour so he’s picking me up first.” She said rushing.
“Goodbye Liam.” She said before she ran down stairs leaving me bewhildered.
“Wait. Your necklace.” I tried to give it back to her but it fell.
“Something to remember me by.” She shouted and I laughed.
“Now I know it’s her” I mumbled as I picked it up.
At the back of it was her name.
Estella.
