Zara stood her ground, her rage unchecked, and she retaliated on the man with a vengeance. "What makes you smile now? Do you think I'm crazy? With his focused gaze fixed on Zara's fiery eyes, the man, who was still standing next to the car door, kept up his mysterious smile. You tossed a stone at my pricey automobile, he retorted in a cool but stern manner. Who will be responsible for paying for the damages is still unknown. Zara's words were tinted with defiance as she spoke, and her voice cut through the tension in the air. Zara was scrutinized by the man as his eyes moved up and down her body, as if he were evaluating her like fragile glass that was about to break. Zara's formerly innocent visage was now marred by rage. "Why should I pay for your deteriorating car? As she watched the man's fists clench in irritation, Zara answered, her aggravation propelling her words, "Moreover, my identity is none of your concern." Unapologetic and unafraid, she proceeded. "I'm well acquainted with your kind — those who employ deceit to ensnare wealthy women, feigning love as a shortcut to riches." When Zara made her accusation, the tension between them was almost tangible. And who are you? he asked, his inhibition at an all-time low. Flames appeared to be flowing from his pink lips as he spoke. a middle-class individual of third class. As his phone rang, she was met with a disapproving glance. He answered the phone when he saw the incoming call, signaling to Zahra while doing so, "Don't go. I'll tell you a few things about poverty once I answer this urgent call. He got absorbed in the discussion and left Zahra to her reflections. Perhaps as a result of divine intervention, the thought of exacting retribution crossed her head while she was walking away. She subtly ordered a rickshaw to stop as it passed. He abruptly turned around while still focused on his call. "Hey, you deceitful woman!" It was evident that Zahra couldn't go to the workplace in these circumstances, so she quickly boarded the rickshaw and grinned in defiance. "Why did you come back, Zara, and what happened to your clothes?" As Fiona examined her daughter's mud-stained clothes, she spoke with a trembling voice of worry. The frustration in Zara's voice caused her to sigh deeply. "Mom, it's nothing. Some millionaires treat us like we're nothing more than insects when individuals like us cross the street. Some spoiled brat sped by in his car and doused me in murky water. As Zara talked, the air was filled with the noise of the city's busy life, including the distant sounds of horns and vehicles. Their open window let in a strong smell of exhaust, reminding them of the harsh streets they used to live on. Zara was worn out by the sense of vulnerability coursing through her. Her rage was obvious as she could still hear the stranger's tone of bitterness and disdain reverberating in her ears. While folding a mountain of recently cleaned clothes, Fiona sought to calm her daughter. "My child, it's not his fault. All we can do is wait and hope that the city workers will soon clean the roadways. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the signal, Zain observed the almost completely empty road and the few cars that were present. He received the short impression of the ethereal entity who had just backed away from him in the form of a fragile glass statue. He struggled to understand why he was feeling this way, but for a brief second, a long-forgotten smile pulled at the edges of his lips. His phone rang, quickly bringing him back to reality and ending his brief moment of reverie. As the signal changed to green, he said, "Zain speaking," his hands firmly grasping the wheel. He heard Halle's voice via the Bluetooth in his ear, and he couldn't help but frown just a little bit on his brow. He said, "Whose number is this, Halle?" with a tone of urgency in his voice. Halle's response was dripping with irony. "Well, because you won't return my calls, I'm forced to look into other ways to get in touch with you. Maybe this number will be picked up by my fiancé, Zain." Zain sighed and exhaled. "Halle, I've been quite busy. Recently, I took over a new business in Karachi, and running it has proven to be extremely difficult. As he approached his office building, he deftly applied the brakes with one hand while adjusting his hair with the other. The voice of Halle persisted. "Don't be alarmed, baby. I'm arranging a vacation to Pakistan so we can have some quality time together when I return. Zain's eyes caught a glimmer of hatred. "Certainly, just forward me your flight details." After a little period of stillness, Halle spoke once more, this time with a more subdued voice. "Aren't you thrilled about my upcoming visit to Pakistan?" She was plunged into despair by Zain's impersonal reaction. Halle, it's not about your happiness. Today I have a crucial meeting. We can talk about this later. Halle endured the embarrassment of being cut off from her wealthy fiancé like a bittersweet elixir when Zain ended the call. Zain entered his office with style, a gray coat in his hand and his business bag thrown casually over one shoulder. As he passed, the busy crew all stood up in unison in respect. Outside his door, the manager and the head of the department handed him a bouquet of new flowers as a welcome present. A little out of breath, the manager responded hastily, "Mr. Moiz has asked me to escort you in for a staff meeting, sir." Zain asked, "But sir, Miss Khan hasn't arrived yet," with a wrinkled brow. She hasn't been able to get to the office, which is probably because of the current strike. He continued to be perplexed by asking, "So, how did you get here? Are you a pilot? The manager said, "Apologies, sir," his nervousness clear in his voice. "I took my bicycle. Miss Khan rides the bus or the train to get about. Hearing the manager's explanation, Zain's brow slightly softened. The office car will be sent to pick her up, so kindly let her know. I'm anticipating her arrival in the next twenty minutes. If not, we'll have to reschedule the appointment of the new secretary. As he placed a document on a folder, he spoke in a calm and collected manner. Moiz nodded, "Understood, sir," and quickly left, wiping the sweat from his forehead. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fiona watched her daughter make preparations, paying attention to every little thing, such as the sky-blue clothing that seemed to represent Zara's optimism and the hasty, almost eager gathering of office documents. Zara spoke with a mixture of anticipation and concern, "Mom, the Managing Director has changed my position.Since one of our colleagues recently got married, I've been given the responsibility in the interim. I'll go back to my former position as soon as the new boss locates a secretary who satisfies their standards. Pray for me, please." After diligently finishing her preparations, Zara started to explain the finer points of her new workplace. Fiona replied, her voice warm and loving, " My prayers are with you always, may God keep you safe and secure, my dear." Just as the automobile honked to let Zara know it was time to leave, Fiona said a passionate prayer and wished her daughter well. She quickly left the room. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Khan, you are invited to Mr. Bose's office. Please enter right away," Moiz frantically messaged Zara. "Yes, sir." Zain lightly banged on Bose's door while holding a file in his palm. He gripped his file with assurance while he awaited an answer. He gave a cool "Yes" and walked into the room as the doorbell rang. Immediately, he focused on the person seated behind the counter. Zara introduced herself formally, "Hello, Sir, I'm Miss Khan," and her tone was a blend of respect and assurance. Miss Khan: "Yes. You were meant to be at the office," Mr. Bose said, his eyes still glued on a document lit by a desk lamp. After pausing for a bit, Zara said, "In truth, I left on time, but because of the strike, I couldn't find a ride. Sadly, mud from a passing car covered every inch of my clothing. I can promise you that I frequently arrive on time. Then, suddenly turning his head, Zain's eyes switched to the file. While facing his employee, he turned the chair around and sat with his arms on the backrest. With a trace of displeasure in his voice, he charged, "So, you're the one who threw a stone at my car and fled without taking responsibility." In recognition, Zara's eyes became wider. "What are you doing here?" she muttered. "Be careful with your words, Ms. Khan. I am now your employer. It appears that fortune has been on my side. I was confident that I would be compensated in full for the harm you did to my priceless car this morning when you entered my workplace. After regaining her composure, Zara responded, "I apologize, sir. You muddied me previously, so I figured a stone would be a fair trade. She put the document on his desk and turned to leave when Zain's gruff voice interrupted her. "I don't recall leaving you, Miss Khan." "Sorry, sir." "Whatever the circumstances, you will make up for the damage. I shall determine the payment's due date and method. Now, we assemble all of the staff's progress reports and bring them to the meeting space. "Yes, sir." Zain sat back in his chair and briefly closed his eyes as Zara left. "Interesting, Miss Khan."
