Chapter 19: I chose you

I can’t explain the feelings I felt when I walked in and saw what Axel was doing to Molly. Rory had her pinned down by her wrists so she couldn’t fight back. A feeling of fear, nausea, rage, hatred so deep that all I could hear was the pounding of blood rushing in my ears, and I’d attacked. How dare they f.ucking touch my mate, MY mate! Mine! I had completely lost myself, nothing else mattered in that moment except saving Molly.

I knew when I found a mate she would be important to me, but I didn’t know just how much and how deeply, any loyalty I felt towards my old pack mates had vanished, even the ones who hadn’t been helping Axel, it didn’t matter they all had to die, I’d find them, but for now, I wanted to stay close to Molly.

She was acting like her normal self as the day went on, I knew she was probably processing what happened to her in her own way, but she was acting so normal and fine that I started second guessing myself. I followed her around and kept an eye on her and when it was time to sleep I went back to my place when she convinced me she was fine. I couldn’t sleep though, a few hours went by, and I was still awake when I faintly heard a scream, Molly! I got up and ran to her place a few doors down and let myself in, I ran to her room and found her shaking and crying hysterically, she was sweating and when she saw me she cried, “Trick!”

“I’m here, baby,” I went over and held her tight, slowly rocking her in my arms until she calmed down.

“I had a horrible nightmare,” she sniffled, “I dreamt of what happened today, but in the dream you weren’t there to stop him, he hurt me bad, he tore me apart down there and he-h-he—” she couldn’t get the words out, and I softly interrupted, “ssh, it’s ok, I’m here, I’ve got you.”

“Please don’t leave me,” she begged.

“I won’t, move over.”

She moved over, and I climbed into the bed beside her and pulled her down into my arms. I played with her hair softly and when she fell asleep I held her close to me, never in my life had I ever cried, but silent tears fell down my cheeks for her, I know I had been a horrible vile person in the past, but I wouldn’t dream of hurting a woman the way Axel tried to hurt Molly.

I’d watched the tape he had shown her of me with that woman, even that made me feel sick, she had consented and if she had been in serious pain or begged me to stop I would have, I should have anyway regardless of whether I finished a few seconds later or if she was happy to carry on and sleep with the rest of the pack. I had known her a while at the time though, and I knew she was fine with it all, she was a tough b.itch and if she hadn’t liked it she would have made sure I damn well knew it.

I couldn’t understand how anyone, even Axel could want to r.ape Molly and cause her pain, she was so incredibly sweet and innocent, so kind and gentle. Axel had never been one for forcing a woman and I didn’t understand it, well, I did kind of, if he thought she belonged to his pack, and she was an omega, maybe she said something that p.issed him off, his temper hadn’t been much better than mine. I cuddled Molly tightly, I gently kissed her face all over, “I love you,” I whispered to her even though she was asleep and couldn’t hear me.

I wasn’t ever leaving her side again, holding her in my arms I decided I was moving in here with her whether she liked it or not, even if I had to sleep on the couch I didn’t give a f***k, I wasn’t risking leaving her alone again.

I fell asleep eventually, and I woke up to Molly’s hand down my trousers. “What are you doing?” I mumbled sleepily.

“I want to have s.ex.”

I opened one eye and looked over at her, “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Why not?”

I gently pulled her hand out of my trousers and kissed the back of it. “You need time to heal and get over what happened.”

“I’m fine,” she smiled.

“You said that yesterday, and clearly you aren’t fine, Molly, there’s nothing wrong with needing time before you’re ready to be intimate again.”

“But if I don’t give you s**x you’ll cheat on me or get back with Ellie.” A tear slid down her cheek and leaning on my elbow, I reached over and stroked it away. “I would never cheat on you, ever, and no way in hell would I ever get back with Ellie.”

“You’ve cheated before,” she whispered.

I sat up and looked at her, “not on you, and I’m not like that anymore, I never loved the women I dated, and I couldn’t risk being good to them, they’d end up dead, f***k knows why they stayed with me, but they weren’t much better, I knew they slept with men behind my back too, they were wild party girl types and like me weren’t looking to settle down long term, what you and me have is so different, you are my mate, I will always want you, I will always love you and I know after the video Axel showed you it’s probably hard to believe, but I swear I have my s.hit together now, do I seem like I’m still like that?”

“No, not in a million years, you’re all scary and cold and mysterious now,” she mumbled.

I laughed and said, “I’m mysterious for a good reason, I don’t ever want anyone knowing what I used to be like or about the things I did,” more seriously I said, “I wasn’t living then Molly, I was only surviving.”

“You won’t do that to me?” She asked.

“Never, I’ve chosen you as my lifetime mate and nothing will change that.”

“What if I cheated on you instead?”

“I would be seriously p.issed and upset and brokenhearted, but it still wouldn’t change anything, I’d still love you and I still wouldn’t leave you,” more teasingly I added, “but, please don’t do that to me.”

“I would never,” she smiled.

“Good,” I kissed her forehead and she admitted, “you’re right, I’m not ready to be intimate again yet, I needed it yesterday, I needed you to reclaim me, but I’m not ready for more,” she whispered.

“Of course you’re not sweetheart and that’s more than understandable, I don’t need s**x, I’m more than capable of waiting, I went years without it before I joined this pack.”

“Weird to think of you not having it, you seem quite s**x mad in those videos,” she giggled.

I snorted a laugh, “I like a lot of s**x during the moment, I can easily f***k all night, and I know it doesn’t look like it with my behaviour on those videos, but I actually haven’t had s**x with that many women, it looks like I was f.ucking hundreds but I wasn’t.”

“They told me you slept with loads of virgins.”

“They wanted to pull us apart, they were bulls.hitting, sort of, I slept with two.”

“And other women? Because you had girlfriends and cheated on them.”

I cringed inside when she said that. “I know, I had two girlfriends, I cheated on one with the woman you saw on the video, the other, I slept with a few women behind her back, two I slept with were the two you saw on the other video Axel showed you, I also slept with a woman I met at a bar, took her down an alley way and took turns on her with Jasper and two other pack mates.”

“Who else?”

“My first, the female I had a real relationship with and had feelings for.”

“You were loyal to her?”

“Yes, and the alpha found out how serious we were becoming so he killed her.”

Her eyes went wide, and she whispered, “how?”

I grew cold, hiding my emotions because this wasn’t about me, I had to be strong for Molly. “He walked in on us making love, and he stabbed her in the chest and walked out, told me to clean the mess up.”

She sat up and hugged me, pressing her cheek against my chest. “I’m so sorry, Trick, I’m so sorry that happened to you.”

“Thank you sweetheart, I wish it hadn’t happened, but at the same time it led me down the path to meeting you, I don’t regret meeting you.”

“But you loved her.”

“I did, but mine and your love is true love Molly, I’m meant to be with you, I’m so in love with you in ways I never was with her, I never chose her as a mate, I’ve never decided that anyone I dated was my mate, not until you, it hit me so hard, when you went looking to get bit it suddenly all made sense, why I never attacked you in wolf form, why my first instinct seeing Ellie run towards you was to protect you, I already knew I loved you, I just didn’t allow myself to feel how deep, not until I thought I’d lost you, I knew in that moment I’d never be able to live without you, I knew you were my mate, I chose you.”

She hugged me more tightly and I stroked her hair. “You’re my mate too,” she mumbled against my chest.

“I know darling because you don’t have a choice,” I teased.

“I meant I chose you too.”

“I know, I’m teasing you,” I laughed.

“Oh,” she smiled up at me, and I leaned down and kissed her.

“You, with me, now!” We both turned and saw Grayson standing in the doorway, he looked p.issed with me and stormed out.

Sighing, I got up and turned to see Molly looking worried. “Don’t worry baby, I’ll be back soon.” I walked towards the door and then looked back at her, “please don’t go off wandering, be here when I get back.”

“I will.”

I shut the door behind me and went to find Grayson.
