The Jealousy

Anika was at her desk working when she saw Mr. Brown and Nathaniel come out of the cabin. She was uncertain about what to do. ‘Hay Krishnaji, Kya karu main abb? Kuch nai samjh aa raha hai.’ She thought. (Hay Krishnaji, What should I do next? I’m very confused.) Suddenly she heard Nate’s voice, “What’s wrong? Why are you stealing glances at Mr. Brown?” Anika was startled and replied, “Huh? No, I wasn’t! Even if I was, what's wrong with that? He's a handsome young man. Why are you asking though?” Nate glared at her and said, “Do whatever you want.” Anika stood at her desk confused with Nate’s reply and action.

Anika resumed her work, and in the next 15 minutes, she heard the elevator open with a ding. She saw a tall woman with heels come out of it. Anika is stunned to see her - machine curled bouncy hair, her face beautiful but a cake of makeup. Clothes that made Anika herself uncomfortable - short skirt and shirt deep enough to show her cleavage. She stopped at Anika’s desk and asked her rudely, “Where is Nate? And who are you? Ahh… Let it be, just tell me is he inside?” Anika curtly replied, “Yes, Nate’s inside. But, who are you? He has not in…” The lady interrupted her and intimidatingly said, “That’s none of your business. Move now. He has only called me here.” She pushed Anika aside and flipped her hair as she walked inside Nathaniel’s cabin. “You can’t go in… I’m sorry Mr. Campbell but I tried to stop her, but she didn’t listen. She disrespectfully came in. She said you…” Nate stopped Anika’s blabbering and said, “I have invited her here for some meeting. You can leave. Shut the door behind you.” Anika was dumbfounded for some reason. She didn’t reply, just bashed the door on her way out. Anika didn’t get why Nate was taking all the meetings without her in the room.

Anika is done with the scheduling and now she is going through the files Nate gave her. It was difficult for her to concentrate on work, she could constantly hear noises from Nate’s cabin. Anika thought, ‘Hay Krishnaji, what are they doing inside? Making so much noise!! I can’t even concentrate on my work. I wonder what discussion they are having. Should I go and check it once?’ Anika got up from her seat and went towards Nate’s cabin, putting her ear on the door to listen to what's going on. She jumped back and was about to shout when she heard some banging sound inside. Someone caught her from the back putting hands on her mouth and dragged her towards her cabin. The voice said, “I didn’t know you were so kinky. What were you doing there, standing and hearing them? Ewww Anika… I didn’t expect this from you.” Anika turned around, her eyes still wide, in a surprised voice she said, “Daniel! What are you doing here? Why did you drag me here in such a way? It scared me out. What are you talking about? Kinky - Hearing them. I don’t understand.” Daniel stood there astonished. He wasn’t sure what to say, so he collected himself and told her as if explaining a child, “Anikaaa… You’re seriously that naive! Nate is having s-e-x s*x. Man and wom…” “Eww… Are you sure? Yuck!! How ahhh of Nate! How can he do this?” Anika reacted loudly, stamping her legs. “Now I won’t be able to have lunch, thinking about this. Why did you tell me this Daniel!?” Anika sat in her chair and while resuming her work she started, “Why are you here, don't you have to be at some shooting?” Daniel sat opposite her and replied, “Oh! I’m done for today. Now I’m free for today, next shoot is directly tomorrow night. Now that Nate’s busy we’ll go have lunch.” Anika replied, “Daniel you go carry on, after everything I’ve lost my appetite. Sorry.” “It’s okay Anika, but is it okay if I wait over here?” Anika just nodded.

After almost an hour Nathaniel came out along with that blonde, who is smiling as if she has won some lottery. Nate walked her towards the elevator and they started kissing each other. Anika looked away not wanting to watch anything any further. As the elevator arrived, Nate said to the blondie, “Payment will be sent to your place. No need to come, you don’t meet my standards.” Daniel burst out laughing at this. Anika was shocked at Nathaniel’s behavior. She didn’t believe what she saw. While re-entering his cabin Nate smirked at Anika and said, “Daniel, why are you here? Come inside after you’ve calmed down.”

After Nate closed his cabin Anika said, “Heartless. You know what Daniel, I don’t like your brother’s choice.” Daniel while entering Nathaniel’s cabin he winked and said to Anika, “I don’t agree with you Anika, I like my brother’s choice more and not yours.” Anika is confused with Daniel’s answer. Just then, she received a call from Kate, “Hello, Anika? This is Kate. Care to join us for lunch today?” Anika shuddered and replied, “Sorry, I’ve lots of work and for some reason have lost the appetite.” “Okay, as you wish, but do join us tonight for clubbing. No reasons accepted.” Kate giggled. Anika sighed and replied okay and resumed her work.

Daniel entered Nathaniel’s cabin and yet again started laughing. Nathaniel looked up from his laptop and arched an eyebrow. “Sorry bro… but that was cold… hahah… best reply I have heard from you to date. Stop glaring at me! On a serious note, are you in any way trying to make Anika jealous? Because it’s for sure working.” “I’m not trying anything. What are you doing here by the way?” Nathaniel annoyedly asked. He didn’t want his brother to know he wasn’t trying to make Anika jealous, he’s in fact trying to put Anika out of his system, but he’s somewhat glad to know she was jealous. Daniel said, acting offensive, “My shoot for the day is done, so here I am!! Ain’t you happy… I’m hurt bro… Oh did you know how innocent you Anvika is!? Jeezz I love her man…” Nate glared at him, thus Daniel cleared his throat and corrected himself, “I… I mean I love her but as a sister….” “What were you saying about her being innocent? How do you know that? What happened back then?” Nate asked. “Why would I tell you? Huh… First, let’s go have lunch, I’m fukcing hungry right now. Anika has already rejected me by saying she lost her appetite as soon as she got to know what you guys were doing. Now please don’t you dare reject me.” Daniel said while getting up from his chair and moving out. Nathaniel shook his head and went out to accompany Daniel for lunch.

After returning from lunch, Nate saw Anika sleeping. He is doubtful if she had her lunch yet. He went inside his cabin and intercom Mrs. Bridget, “Can you please order some vegetarian sandwiches for lunch?” “Sure, but since when do you have vegetarian food?” Mrs. Bridget asked in a confused tone. Nathaniel is mum… He didn’t know what to reply to her, the food is for Anika and not him. Before replying he cleared his throat, taking his own time to reply, “I feel like trying it. Bring the food directly to me.” With this, he disconnected the call and sighed. I shall visit some club tonight. The afternoon dose wasn’t enough. I’m still thinking about her. “Hello Danny, we will be visiting the club you wished… Be ready.” Nate planned to visit the club and have a good night’s experience to remove Anika out of his system. After some time, there’s a knock on the door and Mrs. Bridget came in with the food and started unpacking it. Nate instantly reacted, “No wait… I’ll do it myself.” And rushed Mrs. Bridget out.

Nathaniel knocked on Anika’s desk to wake her up. She just stirred and adjusted her head, making her hair fall on her face. Nate just stands there and admires her beauty. Surprised by his own action, tugs back Anika’s hair, and bends down, and kisses her temple. He then shakes her from her shoulders and says in an annoyed voice, trying to hide the smile playing on his lips, “Anika! I don’t pay any of my employees' salaries to come and sleep. If you don’t feel well, go home and sleep.” “Hmmm… Shh don’t disturb me, I’m having a migraine, so please let me sleep. Let me know when Mr. Campbell is back, don’t tell him this okay Mrs. Bridget? Anika replied heavy-eyed. Nate was amazed by her action. He goes to Mrs. Bridget and says, “I’m having a headache. Can you get me some coffee and medicine? I’m sorry to send you, you can take Damon with you. I would have asked Anika but she’s hmmm… busy with the reports and it’s important to complete today.” Mrs. Bridget genuinely smiled and replied, “Sure thing, have lunch and I’ll be back soon son. Take care.”

As soon as Mrs. Bridget goes down the elevator, Nate runs towards Anika’s cabin and lifts her bridal style, taking her to his cabin. He places her on the sofa. He doffed his coat and put it on her to make her feel a bit warm. He pours some water in the glass, squats beside Anika, and lifts her head a bit to help her drink some water. Anika unconsciously drinks a few sips of water instantly giving her a feeling of comfortness. Anika now feeling pleasant murmured, “No light, it hurts. Please… Ac also...” and yet doses off again. Nate quickly closes all the curtains in his cabin and dims the light to make her feel at ease. It was his first time meeting someone with a migraine. He didn’t know anything about it. He dialed his doctor friend, “Noah, Hello! How are you? Are you free to talk? I want certain information from you. It’s a bit urgent.” Noah from the other side replied, “Hi, I’m good. How have you been? Is your sugar level okay? How can I help you?” “Well, I need to know about migraine. Like what to do if someone is suffering from it. I know you’re orthopedic, and this may not be in your scope of work. If you can help me out, it would mean a lot to me.” Nate said and in reply, Noah asked him, “Sure, I can help. What type of migraine is it? Are you having one?” Nate was wondering if he should let Noah know it wasn’t him but his secretary he is worried about. “Nate, are you still there?” Came in Noah’s reply yet again. Nate cleared his throat, which he started doing a lot more often now than ever. “No, it’s not me. It’s someone else. I want to help her.” “If the patient has not eaten anything yet, then try making her eat. But something light and not heavy then give her Advil or aspirin whichever is available with you. Let her sleep for an hour.” Noah replied, instantly guessing the situation Nate is in. “Okay! Thanks a lot. I’ll give you a call when she is not fit even after.” with that said to Noah, Nate cut the call and opened the food package Mrs. Bridget had got. He tries waking up Anika, to feed her at least one piece of sandwich. “Anika… Anika… wake up. You’ll have to eat up, as far as I know, you haven’t eaten anything since morning.” Anika just hummed in response. Nathaniel sighed and made Anika sit, feeding her slowly with a few sips of water to make it easy for her to gulp the food. After completing one sandwich, he laid her back down on the sofa and started massaging her head a bit.

Nate carefully got up from his seat and went out to Mrs. Bridget wondered why she gave the coffee and medicine yet. But little did he know, she had already seen him massaging Anika’s head. “Mrs. Bridget, why didn't you give this inside?” Mrs. Bridget replied, “Umm… I forgot. After coming I went to the washroom and then…. Sorry son. Here they are.” Nate smiled, took the items, and entered his cabin, but he saw Anika was already up and having water. “Anika! Are you okay?” Nate worriedly asked. Anika turned her head fast enough to cause dizziness, “Ahh…” Nate worriedly said, “Anika… Calm down. Be careful.” Anika confusedly said and suddenly got up from the sofa and ran towards the door, “Nate… Pch… Mr. Campbell, how am I here? Ohhh my! Hay Krishnaji!! Why am I laying on your sofa? You and she did it right here na? Sheezz… I have work to do. Bye.”

Nathaniel didn’t stop her from leaving the cabin, he knew what she was thinking and in a way it was right, he did do it on the sofa with the lady who was her earlier that morning. Nate got up and went to Anika’s cabin and said, “Here, have some coffee and this medicine will help your migraine.” Then left and locked his cabin door trying to concentrate on work at hand. 

Anika was left speechless for the second time today. She was touched by Nathaniel’s action. She had the coffee and medicine, it did give her relief. She just texted Nate, ‘Thank you' with a smile, continuing her work.

Anika received the call that rang, “Hey! It’s Kate. Are you ready to leave? We all are packing to head out, get dressed, and meet at the club.” Anika saw the clock at this and indeed it was time to take a leave for the weekend. “Sure! Let’s go, can we both go together? We’ll stop at my place then yours? Of course only if it’s fine by you.” Anika said and got an excited reply from Kate immediately, “Yes!! I would love that. Come down fast, I’m waiting.” Anika hmmmed and cut the call, packed and went towards Nate's cabin, and bid him a bye.

Anika and Kate were having a great time getting to know each other and getting ready simultaneously. “Hmm… Anika, I want to tell you something… If you’re expecting a whole loud gang for climbing then I’m sorry, we are just five people including you. I’m not close to anyone and left alone as I’m just in the administration. I’m being selfish here, I wanted to take you so I have a company.” Kate said, suddenly looking guilty. Anika just smiled and said, “What nonsense, I’m glad you said that. I don’t have friends here, we can definitely accompany each other. Thank you for the dress as well. This is my first time clubbing, let’s go!!” Both giggled and went to the club.

As they reached the club, Anika and Kate both were together, singing and dancing. Kate was tipsy and excitedly said, “Ohh!!! Ani Ani see our boss and his brother are here as well. You know Daniel is so handsom…” Anika turned and saw they were here, sitting in the VIP lounge. Kate dragged Anika from her hands towards the lounge. Anika was stunned when she came face to face with Nate and Daniel. Daniel was the first one to say, “Hey Anika! How are you here and wooo… whose this beautiful chic with you?” He whistled and took Kate’s hand in his and dragged her towards the bar. Anika was just standing there, not knowing what to do, it was awkward to see Nate with another lady sitting on his lap.

Nate is shocked to see Anika here at the club, this was the last place he had expected her to be. He isn’t happy that Anika saw him with yet another lady on his lap, ready to spend the night with him. Then he remembered how Daniel said about Anika being jealous, so he kissed the lady on his lap while maintaining eye contact with her. But everything changed, his face color drained when he saw Anika a tear run down from her eye. She quickly wiped it and ran away from him and in search of Kate.

Nate ran after her, hold her hand, and dragged her towards the entrance of the club. Anika is struggling to set her hands free from Nate’s tight grip. Nate spun her and locked her between him and the wall. He hold both her hands in his one and with another, he caressed her face. Anika closed her eyes at the anticipation, but pushed Nate a bit and said, “Don’t. Please. Enjoy your weekend Mr. Campbell.”

Anika dailed Kate and asked her to come towards the entrance of the club, and left together from the club.
