When I woke up, Phoenix was lying on my pillow at my head. Maliki was curled up against me, facing me. He looked so peaceful. I put my arm around him and pressed my forehead to his. We laid like that for a few minutes before he woke up. We stared into each others eyes, smiling. We sat up and stretched, waking up Phoenix in the process. She crawled onto my lap then went back to sleep.
"How long have you been awake?" Maliki asked me, curiously.
"Not that long. Just long enough to see how adorable you look while you sleep." He blushed and pushed me gently. I giggled.
