An encounter with Thane

1050 Words
As soon as Kael left the room, my mother strode in, her eyes blazing with curiosity. "What were you discussing with Kael, Nora?" she asked, her voice dripping with sweetness, but her tone laced with malice. How did she even know that I was with her fiance? I have to deny everything right now. I knew I had to deny everything because I didn't want her to know about my mate's bond with her fiance. I didn't want her to get the slightest information about it, until after I had rejected him. "Nothing, Mother. Just small talk. We were just getting to know each other, you know since we will have to start seeing each other often," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant. But her eyes narrowed. "Don't lie to me, Nora. I know you two were discussing something ‘important’. I could sense it." She deliberately emphasized on the word ‘important.’ My heart raced as I heard her words. Has she been eavesdropping on our conversation all along? How dare she! "Even if we were discussing something, it's none of your business, Mother. It has nothing to do with you at all" I snapped, my anger rising. How could she stand by and listen to our discussion? “It's a bad thing to eavesdrop on people's conversation” I added, to let her know that I was displeased with her. Her face twisted in a scowl. "You will stay away from Kael, Nora. He's mine, and I won't let you steal him from me. He may be your mate or whatever you call him, but he is my fiance. I met him before you." I laughed, a bitter sound. "You're engaged to him, but you don't even love him. Why are you so desperate to keep him?" Her eyes flashed with anger. "I won't be alive to watch you steal him away from me, Nora. You'll regret it if you try anything funny with me” “You don't love him mother, so don't act like you do,” She scoffed. “Whether I love him or not, it's none of your business. I won't let you steal him from me. Therefore, you have to reject him right away,” “I won't do that. Instead you should call off your wedding to him. He is my mate,” One who didn't know better would have thought that she was my friend and we were both fighting over the same man, but hell no. She was my mother. My f*****g mother whose fiance was my mate. I can't believe we are doing this. Fighting over a man. The argument escalated, with both of us shouting over each other. I hope no one is hearing us. I felt my anger boiling over, my heart racing with fury. I couldn't take it anymore. I stormed out of the room not after glaring daggers at her, leaving her angry shouts behind me, even though she kept yelling at me to come back. Of course I won't do that. I just wanted to be away from her. That was the only way I would be able to control myself. I stumbled upon a slightly opened door and pushed it open without knocking even though I knew that I shouldn't, since I was a stranger here. As I pushed open the door, I was met with a familiar face - Thane, the man who had slept with me that night. My eyes widened in shock, and my heart raced with anger as memories began to flood in. “What are you doing here? Are you stalking me now?” I asked, trying so hard to keep my anger in check. "Recognize me?" Thane asked, his voice low and husky, as he leaned against the wall, his eyes fixed on me. I glared at him, my mind racing with memories of that night. "I would be a dumb woman if I fail to recognize you. You're the brute who...who took advantage of me while I was vulnerable," I spat, my anger boiling over. Thane pushed off the wall and took a step closer to me. "I didn't mean to take advantage of you, Nora. I only did what I had to do to save your life." I laughed, a bitter sound. "Save my life? You call sleeping with me while I was unconscious saving my life?" His eyes locked onto mine, his gaze intense. "You were drugged, Nora. You would have died if I hadn't...if I hadn't slept with you. You needed heat at that point in time and my body heat, my presence, it helped to flush out the drugs from your system." I shook my head, trying to process his words. "Why should I believe you?" He took another step closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Because I'm telling the truth. I don't know who drugged you or why the person did it, but you have to believe me. I am telling you the truth.” He paused, but continued almost immediately. Of course it was my so-called best who drugged me. I am just mad at the man because he stole my virginity in my vulnerable state. “One more thing, I want to do it again. I want to feel you, just like that night,” My eyes widened in shock. "What? Are you crazy? You want to sleep with me again after what you did the other time?" Thane's smile was lazy. "I loved how you felt within me, Nora. I want to feel that again. Will you let me?" I took a step back, my heart racing with disgust. "You are crazy. You must be a fool to think that I will let you have your way with me after what you did the last time. Now get lost," I spat, trying to hide my trembling. Thane's smile grew wider. "It would be easy for me to get lost, Nora. But I can't do that. Not when you're carrying my child." “What are you talking about?” “You are carrying my pup - the aftermath of our actions that night. I can smell it in you” Goodness! “How did you know?” He chuckled lightly. “That's the power of an Alpha,”
