2Bass received a message from Professor Walpole the next morning. He found a Carl Denright listed, who had served in the infantry under a Sgt. Goschl. The professor wanted to meet with Bass and Macky again.
Bass stopped reading after the mention of Sgt. Goschl, the victim.
As soon as Macky came in, the two men left for the university campus. This time Bass drove.
During the ride over, Bass filled Macky in on last night’s details.
“So you actually didn’t speak to the Smith woman?” Macky asked.
“All I know is what her husband said. She works with Dorothy Denright’s sister at Regis and Regis.”
“The D.A. has the case. I say forget it.”
“Isn’t that exactly why we’re going to see the university professor, because the D.A. has the case?” Bass asked.
“What do you want to do then?
