IIIBass made a fresh start at headquarters Thursday morning. He hung his suit coat on the black plated hook behind his desk, took out his notes, and slid into his chair, ready for the work ahead. There were five names on his list to interview. Two of the waitresses had been interviewed already. A quick computer check showed only one had a criminal past, the assistant cook, Palmer. The offenses were small time: smoking dope, assault at a baseball game, once outside a tavern.
