Chapter 48: Leave This Place

1463 Words
Adrian left his glass and walked out. Under the influence of alcohol, he impulsively wanted to see Willow! Right now, at this moment! It had been a long time since he had seen Willow. God knows how he had gotten through this period, in a daze. On top of that, learning today that Lucas had actually not moved into Willow's place made Adrian's heart race. He wanted to see Willow! Willow had been overthinking all night, still unable to figure out what to do. At that moment, the doorbell rang. Willow walked to the door and opened it. "Could you help me apply the medicine?" Lucas raised the medicine and bandages pitifully. Willow hesitated, then nodded, opening the door to let Lucas in. The two were silent for a moment. Willow gently unwrapped Lucas's bandages to apply the medicine, blowing lightly on the wounds as she did so. Still so gentle. "So, do you have something you want to say to me?" Lucas said. "I..." Willow was about to speak when the doorbell rang urgently, interrupting them. Who could it be? Sophie? Willow put down the bandages and walked to the door to look through the peephole. It was actually Adrian! After not seeing him for so long, Willow was stunned for a moment. Then came the panic! She couldn't let Adrian see her! She lowered her head and looked at her belly that was becoming increasingly harder to hide. "What do I do, it's Adrian," Willow looked at Lucas behind her for help. Lucas understood - Willow didn't want Adrian to know about the baby. "Don't come out. I'll handle it," Lucas reassured Willow. Willow nodded and hid inside. Lucas quickly opened the door and came back out, closing it behind him. "Wan..." Adrian saw the door open and was about to speak when a tall figure appeared inside the doorway. Lucas?! Why was he coming out of Willow's apartment? Adrian's body, which the alcohol had made bloodthirsty, instantly cooled down. "Why are you at Wan Wan's place?" Adrian lost control, grabbing Lucas by the collar and slamming him against the wall. "Willow doesn't want to see you. She hopes you'll leave," Lucas said calmly, looking at Adrian gasping for breath. "Did Willow say that, or is that what you think?" Adrian said through gritted teeth. Lucas forcefully shook off Adrian's hand. "Tell me, why are you at Wan Wan's place?!" Adrian was on the verge of breaking down. From the moment Lucas had come out of Willow's apartment, Adrian felt like the string he had been holding onto had snapped. He was crazy with jealousy, completely broken. "Do you want to know?" Lucas laughed, looking at Adrian. This instantly sparked Adrian's fury. Adrian wanted to go knock on Willow's door. "Since you're divorced, why are you here? Don't you think you came too late?" Lucas looked at Adrian. "Because you're divorced, you want to take advantage of the situation, right?" Adrian squinted at Lucas, his hand that was raised to knock on the door stopped. "That's right. I've told you before - I like Willow," Lucas straightened his collar and looked Adrian straight in the eye. "How long have you known her?" Adrian scoffed, looking disdainful. "Since high school. I've liked Willow since high school. I love her!" Lucas shouted loudly. Adrian was stunned. "Love? Do you even know what love is? You just say it!" Adrian slammed Lucas against the wall again. "I don't know. Do you? You should love her properly!" Lucas grabbed Adrian's collar just as tightly. The two confronted each other. "You're not qualified to talk about mine and Willow's relationship," Adrian's eyes were red and bloodshot. "Hah, your relationship with Willow - hasn't it always been Willow doing all the giving? You selfish bastard!" Lucas retorted. "If you really loved her, would you make her sick? Would you drive her to where she is now?!" Lucas roughly threw Adrian to the ground. The wound on his hand tore open from the violent shove, and blood poured out. "Late-stage devotion is cheaper than grass, you know?" Lucas said with a smile. Adrian tried to get up and hit Lucas again. "Enough! Both of you, leave! Don't fight in front of my door!" Willow's voice came from inside, stopping the two men who were ready to fight. Lucas and Adrian just stared at each other, neither willing to back down. "Leave here, please, I'm begging you!" Willow couldn't take it anymore. She slid down against the door, covering her mouth. She had heard everything from inside. Every word between them felt like a knife stabbing her heart. Why are you still coming? Why is everyone pushing me? Hearing Willow's choked-up voice, both men stopped. Adrian stared intently at Lucas. Lucas turned and walked toward his own home. "Lucas, Wan Wan won't accept you," Adrian watched him walk toward the apartment across from Willow's, clenching his fists. "We'll see about that," Lucas looked back at Adrian with a cold smile and closed his door. Blood dripped down Lucas's arm, but he seemed not to feel it. Adrian, you've already lost her once. God gave you a chance, and you didn't cherish it. After this, he will love Willow properly. He won't let Willow suffer even a tiny bit of injustice. Watching Lucas close his door, Adrian finally let out his breath. At least he didn't live with Willow. He turned to look at Willow's tightly closed door again. "Wan Wan, I just wanted to tell you, I really miss you," Adrian pressed his head against Willow's door, wanting to feel even the slightest sound from Willow. Nothing. Silence. Adrian finally left. He didn't even get to see Willow's face. Willow was right behind the door. She had heard everything clearly. Adrian said he really missed her. What does that even mean? Willow just felt heartache. She covered her slightly protruding belly. Overwhelming sadness once again engulfed Willow, like falling into a black hole she couldn't escape. Suddenly, she felt a light kick in her belly. Willow froze completely, holding her breath. The next second - there it was again, a kick in her belly. It moved? This was the baby's first movement. Willow covered her mouth in disbelief. "Are you comforting me?" Willow looked down at her belly, tears streaming down. "I'm sorry, I'm too weak, too useless, aren't I?" Willow cried, asking. The baby in her belly kicked again, as if comforting her. Willow gently pressed her hand where the kick was. The next moment, a tiny foot kicked the exact same spot. Willow laughed through her tears. She thought it was amazing - the power of life. She stared at her belly in a daze for a while. The next second, Willow wiped away her tears. She decided to leave! Whether it's Adrian or Lucas, she was going to put them all behind her! Leave this place, leave this place that made her heartbroken. For her, the most important thing now was her child! She was going to raise and give birth to the baby properly, then think about other things. She couldn't let the baby worry about her anymore. She needed to be strong! Actually, Willow had been considering leaving for a while. It was just tonight that made her determined! Without hesitation, Willow booked a flight to Greece for the next day - the place they had once promised to go for their honeymoon but never did. Willow decided to take her child there to make up for this regret. She immediately checked the local weather, packed her bags. It was already late at night. Willow looked at her suitcase, her heart racing. She barely slept at all. Early the next morning, Willow headed out with her luggage. At the same time, Lucas also opened his door. Was he waiting for her all along? Willow and Lucas looked at each other. "You first," Lucas said. "Is your hand okay?" Willow asked. Lucas shook his head. "Where are you going?" Lucas looked at Willow's suitcase, asking with complicated emotions. "I'm going to Greece to do some painting and fresh air," Willow wasn't planning to hide it from Lucas. "So, when you come back, will you give me an answer?" Lucas nodded, asking. "Maybe," Willow said. "How long will you be gone?" Lucas asked. "Not too long, a month or two at most. After all, I don't want the baby to be born in a foreign country in a rush," Willow joked. "Then let me take you to the airport," Lucas said. "No, I want to go myself. The car is waiting downstairs," Willow said. Lucas nodded. Watching Willow leave, Lucas held back the urge to rush forward and stop her. He needed to give her time.
