Chapter 5

2027 Words
She was done packing her clothes and currently placing the luggage on the floor. Elena and her dad are now leaving the Philippines and planning to settle in London for business. She was just waiting for her father's arrival from the office and, later on, they would go to the airport. She huffed as she remembered what had just happened two days ago. After she lost consciousness and woke up the next day, she found out that her father commanded their bodyguards to beat Jv to death and their head servant, Aunt Kusing, informed her that Jv had been sent to hospital for too much bleeding. God knows how she wanted to visit Jv and even begged Aunt Kusing to let her go see her husband. However, her father was able to strengthen their house security upfront before she woke up and realized what had just happened. Her tears threatened to drop on her cheeks, but she controlled her emotions and fixed herself as if she was f*****g contented with her current life. Elena finds her wallet so she can now leave her room when she sees a watch on the table beside her bed. She remembered her nervousness when she found the watch was placed on the floor downstairs with a hint of a bloodstain. The smell of blood ran into her mind and the positivity was sucked down to her toe. Her body sweated, and she thought she would lose consciousness again at that moment. Good thing Aunt Kusing updated her yesterday that Jv was all fine and was able to recover from the injury. She strides near the center table to grab the watch and caress it lovingly. Her eyes closed as her mind reminisced about how Jv looked at her in the eyes, searching for something. His eyes were searching for her soul, love and somehow to open up with her finally. That was the last look that her husband offered her before the darkness stole her consciousness. Something that she regretted so much for giving up, but was it all worth it? She was distracted from her thoughts when, of a sudden, the door opened and her father entered the room along with their driver. "Sweetheart, it's time to leave." Her Dad said and smiled at her warmly. The driver grabbed her luggage upfront and left them to have some time to talk. "Dad, about my husband..." "He was your ex-husband, Darling. Think straight regarding that issue." She forcedly nodded in fear of making her father get mad at her. "I...father, you almost got him killed." "And so do you, almost losing your life to that man. Let's wrap this up and forget everything, okay?" 'Forget everything. How can she?' she thought. Her mind was not functioning properly at the moment. She was in doubt if she would migrate to London along with her beloved father. "Elena, Let's go." Her dad was now staring at her, observing her expression. She looked at her father and said, "Alright, let me just grab my wallet, Dad. Just go on first and I'll follow in a second." Her father stared at her for a moment but nodded, anyway. "I'll wait for you downstairs, baby. I'm giving you two minutes for that." As her father left her alone in her room, she nodded. She looks around her room and memorizes every corner. This has been her comfort room since when she was a kid. She wished she would have one last glance at her room at JV's mansion, too. She heaved a sigh. She grabbed her wallet from the table and finally took her leave. As she strolled down the long stairs, their beloved maids looked up at her, their tears threatened to drop while smiling at her sadly. On the other hand, Aunt Kusing wipes her wet cheeks while looking so glamorously beautiful and classy. She roams her eyes around and finds out that her father was already waiting for her in the car, she took her attention back to their trusted servant, who's looking at her lovingly. "Hey, stop crying, everyone. We'll come back here when everything is going back to normal, alright?" She said teasingly as she arrived at the end of the stairs. She then initiated a hug to Aunt Kusing whose now crying so much while looking at her. "I will miss you, Elena. Don't forget to call me when you arrive in London."Aunt Kusing mumbles as her shoulder shakes from crying. Elena's hand caressed Aunt Kusing's back to comfort her as they strode to the front door. In front was the car of her father, patiently waiting for her to get in. "I'll say my final goodbye here, Aunt Kusing. You should take care of your health — " Her eyes glanced at their backs and saw the other maids accompanying her. "All of you, too. Don't be afraid to tell me if Ma'am Kusing's bullying y'all, alright?" The maids nodded except for Aunt Kusing, who was now staring at the others, threatening them with her glares. She laughed. "Alright, everyone, I just would like to say thank you so much for taking care of me, my dad, and as well as the mansion. I assure you that when I come back here to the Philippines, you will have a pasalubong from me." (Pasalubong is the Filipino language and refers to things and foods that are usually bought by a person who visits a certain place to give to the people upon his or her return to his or her hometown). Their miserable faces switched into pleasant ones when they heard the word "pasalubong." Right, she knew gifts would make up for the sadness. She finally bid goodbye to everyone and quickened her movement to get inside the car, along with her father. She turned round to wave her hand one last time as the car generated its speed to leave the place. Before the car changed its direction, she saw Aunt Kusing wipe her wet cheeks from crying as her eyes followed the car to make sure that they left safely. Elena heaved a sigh of relief as she leaned on the back seat comfortably. She looked outside the car window to see the view while she leaned her forehead on the side. The heat lingers on her skin as she closes her eyes to think of something to distract herself. "You okay, baby?" She nodded, not minding opening her eyes. "I'm fine, Dad. I just can't believe that we're leaving the Philippines for good. Does Aunt Kusing knows about your decision?" She heard a deep sigh from her father beside her. "No." Her eyes opened of a sudden to look at her father. "You serious? But, why?" She was confused at the moment. No doubt Aunt Kusing was letting her go just like that. "No need for explanation. She knew we were leaving, no matter what." With finality in his voice. She was about to argue with her father when her eyes caught two familiar figures on the side of the road. The man was standing right in front of the OB-GYN Clinic with a woman beside him. The man was wearing a long-sleeved black fold on his elbow, paired with jeans and black shoes. A few meters away from the two figures that she was familiar with, the car that she was in stopped as the traffic light flashed red. "Elena, what are you—" Her father cut off his question when he himself saw what she was looking for. Jv and Trisha were now standing right in front of the OB-GYN clinic, and it was very apparent to her what they were doing there. Trisha's lips were so wide as if she looked so happy while her hands were on Jv's muscular arms. On the other hand, Jv was not showing any emotion on his face, so she couldn't read what was running through her mind. But there was one thing on Elena's mind: Trisha was pregnant and the father was her husband. Elena unconsciously squeezed her hand as her emotions were overflowing uncontrollably. Her expression remained grim as she stared at Jv and his other woman. Jv seemed so confident standing next to the woman he loved while Trisha leaned against him, no space left in between, as the corners of their lips were raised to form a broad smile. A typical happy family. While her husband and his mistress lived happily, Elena, on the other hand, suffered from her loss. Losing her child and sanity. Her dreams and family. But most of all, her self-worth. Elena licked her lips as she fixed herself and faced in front. She even notices their driver giving signals to her father, but she paid little attention to that. She didn't know, but she felt numb. Perhaps it was an aftershock that her mind rejected the painful idea that caused her to not feel anything but anger. Her father reached out for her hands and gave her a comforting smile. "This is what I'm talking about, Elena. He's not worth the wait." She nodded at her father. "I am okay, Dad. I am." But her tears drop at the same time she mumbles those words. She forced herself to believe that she was fine, but her tears... f**k her tears. "It's okay not to be okay, baby. As long as you have learned something throughout your sufferings." She closed her eyes as she felt more tears were threatening to fall out of her eyes. But when she opened her eyes once more, taking a glance at Jv for one last time, Jv found her eyes through the open window. Jv stared at her for a moment, making sure that he was seeing her, but when everything made sense to him, he shook his head as he pushed Trisha's hand away from him at the speed of light. His body was shaken when he took a glance at the traffic light and he only had ten seconds left. Jv was now crossing their distance, running while signaling cars to stop. Her heart beat so fast as Jv was now approaching them as fast as he could. "Moved fast." Her Dad commanded the driver. Elena's heart was about to jump out of its cage as Jv almost got hit by a car. Good thing he has fast reflexes to save himself from getting hit. Jv finally approached their car, but it was too late for him as the traffic light was now signaling for a go. The cars were now speeding away from the place. "No! Elena!" Jv shouted. The car was now slowly moving away, but Jv was still following. He keeps knocking on the car window, hoping for Mr. Montenegro's mercy. "Sir, please let me talk to your daughter! Elena!" Jv begged. "Dad— " "Shut up, Elena." Her father shut her up. "Moved the car fast, we're getting late with our flight." Her head shook as Jv was chasing the car while forcedly knocking on the window car to get lots of attention. He was sweating so hard from running due to the hot weather, but that didn't stop him from chasing. "Dad, perhaps I could talk to him—" "When are you gonna learn, Elena, when you're dead? You have seen them together and yet you are still in doubt of his feelings towards you! He doesn't love you and keep that in your brain while you're still sane!" Her father's anger shut her up as her tears fell from her eyes. She looks again at Jv and sees him giving up chasing. The car was far meters away from him already as he kneels down while his head touched down the road begging for the car to halt. Losing his universe at the same time the car was lost in his sight. Finally, Elena and her father arrived at the airport while her heart heavily grieving on the inside. Elena cried silently as the plane leaves the country without her knowing that Jv, on the other end, watching the plane take off and leave.
