"Well, now you have," he replied back with a cold voice, void of any emotion. And with that, he turned around to leave.
Olivia felt like somebody just punch her in the chest. She didn't realize her words will upset him and turn him into stone. Acting before thinking, she yelled.
"Wait"
She watched him as he stopped for a second; however, he stayed there, not turning around to face her.
"I didn't mean to offend you," she said worryingly, but his back was still facing her.
She took a couple of steps closer to where he was standing.
"I am sorry," she said with a voice a little above a whisper as she softly places her hand on his muscular arm. He tensed for a second, and then his body relaxed as he turned around to face her. Her eyes were warm and sincere, and he knew she didn't mean to remind him of his past.
"I wanted to thank you, you didn't have to," she continues saying in the most gentle way anyone had ever talk to him. So sincere and so pure in every way.
He was out of words as he carefully examined the woman in front of him. Still, his eyes widen from embarrassment as his stomach decided to make an appearance with a deafening growl. But Olivia didn't seem to mind as she was giggling carefree.
"How about I say thank you over food? I can cook," she proposed in between her giggles. Sean found himself smiling truly for the first time in a very, very long time. How could he say no to some home-cooked meal? It was the truth he hadn't eaten anything good in a while, and he wasn't any longer in the mood to hunt.
"I am Olivia, by the way," she said after her giggles, calmed down.
"Sean," his tone was firm, but a small smile broke on his face.
"Well, Sean follow me and be prepared to eat one of the most delicious meals you have ever tasted in your life," she said with so much pride and amusement. Sean's eyebrow rose, and she giggled from his reaction.
"Patient alpha boy," she said, smirking.
And with that, they start walking, with Olivia leading the way. None of them was talking, but the silence that engulfed them wasn't awkward.
After half an hour of walking, Sean heard Olivia's breathing be a bit unstable, she was panting, and he knew she got tired. She needed rest as her body was still coping from the attack last night. Still need time to heal, and she was pushing herself to the edge. He knew she didn't like it when he tried to carry her, but his alpha mode was on again. She needed to stop walking as she was exhausted.
"How far is your home," he asked with a casual tone.
Olivia shrugged before replying.
"I think in about an hour, we will be there soon," she said almost breathlessly.
She was indeed tired, and her muscles were complaining. She was in no condition to walk an hour longer.
"Do you want me to carry you?" Sean asked softly before placing his hand gently on her waist.
"I don't like being carrying like a child," she said, irritated, but the tiredness in her voice was evident.
"Why not? I know you want it," he said with a smirk in his voice, clearly amused by her stubbornness.
Olivia stopped walking and turned to face him while narrowing her eyes. Her face and her red cheeks, however, gave her away. She wanted to carry even though she didn't like it. She couldn't walk one more step. Her body was too tired, and now that she stopped, she knew that it won't obey her to move again.
"I don't like it," She said with an irritated voice.
Sean's smirk grew even more as he saw her exhaling deeply.
"But you are right. I am tired. So can you please carry me, and I will tell you how to get there?" She said with a soft voice, a little above a whisper
"Okay then, climb in my back, and I will carry you," was all he said, and her eyes widen in shock.
"Come on, we don't have all day," he said again with the usual smirk on his face.
Olivia admitting her defeat as she went behind Sean and tried to reach him, but he was too tall for her.
"Do you mind lowering your body a bit? I can't reach you," she said, not amused with the height difference.
Sean chuckled before obeying. And just like that, they were walking, with Olivia on his back guiding him and pointing to where he should turn.
Soon enough, they were outside her apartment. He was a werewolf, after all, one of the fastest. As he took in the surroundings in front of him, the area was not what he expected it to be. It was one of those areas that you wouldn't dare to cross. It stinks and screamed danger. He couldn't believe that someone like her, so delicate and pure, would live in a dump like that, but he kept his thoughts to himself as he didn't want to upset her. She was the first person he talked to in a while, and somehow, he enjoyed her company, even if he just met her.
Chapter 5: Sean
Without realizing it, Sean got lost in his own mind, once again. Since he was rejected and exiled from his pack, he spends most of his time lost in his own thoughts. But this time, his thoughts didn't consist of his mate's rejection or his brother's betrayal. This time his thoughts were occupied by the girl he just met. The defenseless woman who lived in a very sketchy area, how can she stay in a place so brutal, so smelly, and disgusting. He couldn't stop himself, his mind was running miles as he started to worry about her safety.
He was sure she couldn't protect herself. Last night events were a shred of evidence for his assumption. It's a matter of time that someone finds out where she lives and attacks her in the safety of her own house. The thought of someone hitting her beautiful features and erasing the smile that takes his breath away made him angry. He tried to push the growl that was threading to come out from his throat, not to scare her further.
Olivia touched his cheek softly with her cold fingers. The sudden movement was enough to snap him out of his thoughts and back to reality. He was still holding her on his back, without uttering one word, he lower his body, allowing her to get off his back.
"Thank you for the ride alpha boy," she said, amused and winked at him, as he looked at her dumbfounded.
His cheek felt warm, not again, he thought. Why was he blushing hearing her calling him like that. He should have been angry at her, that's not a way to address an alpha, it's inappropriate and disrespectful. But he wasn't one anymore, he reminded himself as he felt the pain curling inside his chest once again. He can't run from his past, the pain will always be there as a constant reminder of the failure he is, as an alpha and as a mate. He sighed, trying to erase those ugly thoughts that were too strong inside his head.
"Follow me" he heard Olivia saying, but before he had the chance to react, she placed her hand around his thumb and pulled him towards the complex she called home.
As they made their way inside the complex, Sean noticed the lack of security. The entrance was unlock so anyone can enter without must hustle. No cameras around the hallways, and the lights were almost non existent, as you could barely see where you were going.
To his surprise, Olivia went to the end of the hallway and then pushed a metal door with plenty of scratches and spots of dirt, the smell was much worst than it looked, it smelled like rotten cheese and vomit. He didn't comment on it and proceed following her silently, curious of where her apartment was.
When the door opened, they were greeted with a set of stairs that were going downwards. Even without any light to guide them, his werewolves abilities gave him the advantage to see clearly even in the darkest places, yet Olivia was human, and he was sure she was walking blindly. How familiar was with the path, was shown with the way her hips and body reacted in every step she took. After going down to two sets of stairs, they reach yet another hallway, in the end of it, it was a worn out wooden door that led inside her apartment. Not even metal, he thought angrily, how can she keep any intrudet out, especially a rouge with such weak defence.
He huffed angrily, but Olivia didn't seem to notice as she let his finger go and went inside, not looking back to see if he followed her.

She knew how to cook indeed, he thought to himself as Olivia was serving him a second plate of pasta. He is a werewolf, and the food they consume is way more than a normal guy, Olivia seemed to know that already, so she made way extra food than she usually does.
As soon as she placed the plate in front of him, he took his fork and literally dig in. Pasta is not a food that he would prefer as he is a massive fan of meat, but somehow Olivia made it taste better than any dish he ate back in his pack. His trail of thoughts went back to his pack. As an alpha, he never learned to cook even the most straightforward recipes like pasta. He had other people cooking them for him. How he missed those days were food was always easy access. He had a good life before his brother's betrayal.
"What are you thinking," Olivia asked politely with a small but somehow sad smile on her face. He hated that kind of smile. It was a pitiful smile.
"Nothing," he replies firmly without showing any emotion, making it almost impossible for Olivia to read him. At least, that was what he believed.
"Your eyes say otherwise," she said with a soft voice trying not to piss him off. How can she read him with such ease, he thought in surprise. In his entire life, no one could manage to see beyond his facade, yet someone who he barely knew, had figured it out, had figured him out without sweating.
"It's nothing really, just how I miss my old life," he whispered sadly.
The words left his mouth without realizing it. Olivia not only manages to see under his facade but also made him trust her so easily that he voiced his thoughts out loud.
As soon as he realized what he just said, he composes his posture and looks at her with a cold face. Instead of getting a reply, she just smiled warmly at him, and his heart flutters to his surprise. Her smile comforts him in a way he couldn't explain.
"We all miss something in our lives. The thing to do is to accept it and try to move on, even if it pains us, to do so," she said with a soft voice that made his entire body shiver. Her voice was so sincere, so comforting, like she talked from experience.
Olivia rose from her seat and placed her arms gently around his sitting figure. Her touch comfort his aching heart and soul. Even his wolf felt more relaxed than before. Everything about this woman made him question his entire existence. He felt more consent wrapped in her arms than he ever did with his own mate.
The remainder of his mate snapped him out of the moment, and he roughly pushed Olivia away. He can't feel like that in another woman's arms. He reasoned with his wolf, who growled inside his head.
