Chapter 5: Help Me Wake

2220 Words
Dax's POV For almost five days now, I have been in this room. I haven't left her side. I moved her into my much larger bedroom so that I had more room to pace. I can't sit still. I want to hear her voice Doctor Beck says physically she is fine, only needing more rest, but I am worried. I need to find her family, but without knowing who or where they are, I cannot do that. I tried to get Bane to ask her wolf so I could have them there for her when she woke, but he refused. He says her wolf must rest too. I know he's right, but this is making me crazy. She is right there but I can't speak with her. I need to find her brother especially. If I had to guess, he is losing his mind slowly. I'm surprised he hasn't come to me yet. I am his king after all. I would help him. Years ago, when I first met Claire, I spoke to the moon goddess. She had told me then about my mate and our daughter. Of course, she left out the part about my mate being a white Alpha, but that doesn't matter. She did, however, tell me about my mate's brother. I wish she would have given me a name, because he is my mate's royal guard. He should be here. If I had to guess, he would find her soon. One does not escape a royal guard after his charge. I kneel beside the bed and take her tiny little hand in mine. She is so small and delicate. "Please wake up soon mate. I need you! I cannot find your family without you. I asked Claire and our daughter not to tell me your name. I want to hear it from you. Is it possible to miss someone you've never met? I think it is. I miss you and you're finally right here. Please wake up soon." I pleaded at her bedside once again, hoping she would open those eyes. I'm guessing her eyes are the same beautiful blue as Fate's are. I cant wait to see them. Now I have to pace again. The tension in my body will not allow me to stay still for long. I couldn't concentrate on the paperwork Max brought to me. He has been pretty much running the kingdom while I take care of our Queen. I ran my fingers through my hair once again. I have never had much patience and today I have even less. I hope she wakes soon. The door opened slowly. It must be my munchkin, no one else would dare enter without knocking. Sure enough, there she is clutching her teddy around the door. She smiles "hi daddy! She will wake up soon. I need to be here when she does. She needs a little help. I miss her." My heart melted right there. I may as well be a puddle on the floor. "How do you know munchkin? I miss her too! I'm so glad she's finally here with us and I'm glad you're here with us. I'm sure she will want to see you when she wakes up." I said, as I remember all the times our little girl prayed for her mommy to come to us. She needed her. I have always tried my best to care for Fate, but I am not her mother. A girl needs her mom. My twin sister, Destiny, has tried as well to help fill that void. I could never thank her enough for everything she has done for us. Destiny has been away for the last week, once again looking for her mate. We are twenty-six. Usually, us wolves find our mates pretty quickly after our first shift, but not ours apparently. Destiny refuses to give up. She thinks he must be younger than us and hasn't had his wolf to tell him who she is to him. I hope that's the case. She deserves all the happiness. "Her wolfie told me. She has been trying to wake up for a couple of days now but she was just too tired. My wolf says she knows how to help her. Mommy's Wolf says she will wake up today, she needs real food. They are hungry." My baby girl giggled a bit at the end. My mate's wolf must really be something. It sounds like the munchkin has gotten to know her quite well. "Mommy" Fate says, grabbing her hand, "wake up mommy, you need to eat. I'm pretty sure your wolf thinks she's starving." My mate is only still. Then the munchkin reaches for her face and touches her nose, "wake momma time to eat." As she spoke, the place where they touched and Fate's eyes began to glow cobalt blue. I know my mouth fell open. Our little girl is absolutely amazing. As Fate pulled her hand away, I saw the most amazing smile grace my mate's lips. "Hello my pup. Bay knew you could help us", her eyes slowly opening as she spoke. Bane was howling like a loon (she's awake! Go hold her human!) Bane tells me. (She doesn't know me yet Bane. I don't want to frighten her.) (She is our mate, she won't be afraid) he responds, irritated. I cleared my throat. I have never been this nervous. She turns her head to see me and her eyes widen as she smiles. I watched her take in all of me, top to bottom. The adoration in her eyes tells me that she can already feel our bond. "Fate said you would protect me while we slept. Hello mate." She was talking to me! To me! Finally! I stood there and smiled before I realized I was probably being creepy. There isn't one moment that defines us though, right? If there is, this is probably it, and I am blowing it. I swallowed roughly, now I'm even more nervous. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, "Hello mate. I will always protect you. Please tell me, what is your name?" That made her chuckle. That was a sound Bane and I both wanted to hear more of. "I heard you wanted to hear it from me. My name is Angeline. Most people call me Angel". She smiled. "Angel, that is perfect. You are perfect", that caused a blush to reach her cheeks and my heart to race. This woman would be the end of me. She already had me wrapped around her finger. "Can I ask how to find your family? Your brother specifically." She scrunched her little nose up at my question. Her eyes darted around the room. "I...I can't.." her voice shook. "Please don't be afraid of me. I would never hurt them. I only need to know so I can bring them here. You will need them. Especially your brother". As I spoke, I moved toward her. I know my voice was pleading. Angel seems to relax at my words. Thank the goddess. "Can I ask why you're so worried about my brother?" She asks curiously, assessing my every word. My mate would definitely detect a lie if I tried to feed her one. I smiled at her. " You can ask me anything, Angel" I saw her shiver as I spoke her name. "Your brother is your royal guard. I'm not sure how long you have been away from him but I can almost guarantee he is about to burn the forest down looking for you." Her eyes widened at that. "His mark is royal! We always wondered why he was marked that way. If you reach out to Alpha Woods in the mountain moon pack he will get word to him. Wherever he is, his name is Samual Wyte. We call him Sam". She looks excited as she spoke of her brother. "I can reach him now that I know his name." She was puzzled by my statement. They must not have told her much about me. (Bane) (I'm already calling his wolf, Jagger. He isn't far. You were right. He was losing his mind. Their parents are with him.) "Bane says he's not far and your parents are with him. They are now on their way." I announced "wait, how? Is Bane your wolf?" Angel asks, scrunching her nose again. I was slowly falling in love with every little wrinkle on her cute little nose. "There is a lot we need to discuss my beautiful Angel. First, I am King Daxton Right. Please call me Dax. Yes, Bane is my wolf. Also, I can speak to any royal guard in the world. Eventually, you will be able to as well. As my Queen" As I spoke I heard her breath catch. She didn't see that coming. She nodded, looking a bit pensive "the goddess said you were impressive. She says not many impress her." She giggled and I found another life source in that moment. These two ladies in my life already hold my entire heart. I smiled back at her getting lost in those beautiful blue eyes. I knew they would be the same beautiful blue as our munchkins and they did not disappoint. I snapped myself out of the trance I was in. "Okay, now what are you and your wolf hungry for? Apparently she is famished." I asked my beautiful mate as I knelt before her. That causes her stomach to growl. Our munchkin thought that was so funny. I, again, found my heart swelling. I love these two more than I've ever loved anything in this world. I always will. I am barely containing myself. The reward for my question is a face-splitting smile. My heart skips. Bane purrs inside my head. "Bay says she wants meat, red meat." She is full-out laughing at her wolf now and her face flushes once again. Bane chuckles in my head (what am I missing?). I ask Bane. (Ha! Bay is hilarious. Yeah she wants meat alright) his response makes me blush and chuckle. He howls and growls his approval of Bay's words. We have plenty of time for that. Dirty wolves and their one-track minds. Right now I need to feed my beautiful family. I mind-link our head chef letting her know we need food. A lot of food. Red meat. Whatever my Angel wants, she gets. I feel like I have waited an eternity for her. Now that I'm with her, I would wait another century as long as I knew she would be on the other side. Unknown POV: "I can feel it. The White Wolf has met its mate. We must find them now before the coven does", I slammed my fist onto my desk, growling at my pathetic brother. "This is your fault! The white wolf should never have lived this long. What would father think of you? Huh?" I slapped him across his face, causing him to fall to the side. "Get out! I don't want to see you again unless you're carrying its head!" He flies from the room before I finish talking. What an imbecile. If it wasn't for my Grandmother's dying wish that I help him in this life, I would have cut him off long ago. I have no room in my life for someone who can't do one single thing right. I growled again. This wolf is really beginning to get on my nerves. I have heard what the prophecy says. This wolf could be the end of my kind if it gets the chance to fully mature. "Sir, we have news. The one, thought to be the white wolf, she escaped a few days ago now." One of my guards stated. "I know it's her. Her old Alpha told my father as much and we all know how that turned out." I spoke mostly to myself. Almost twelve years ago, my father received word from an Alpha that there was a White Wolf within his pack. I still wonder what my father had on this Alpha that would cause him to turn over a member of his pack. Although, it really doesn't matter why he did it. I have always assumed whoever the white wolf was, it was a threat to his pack. He must have decided to give the wolf to my father so that he didn't have the blood of a pack member on his own hands. These Alpha's take the safety and survival of their packs very seriously. Someone must have tipped off the family of the white wolf. Father sent word that he was headed for the hunt. He was the best tracker. I remember all of his lessons on reading tracks, surviving in the wilderness, and every other life lesson he gave me. My father was my hero. Several days passed after his last call. After four days, we left in search of them. What we found, I can never unsee. My father had been mutilated, along with all of his men. Father must have gone in guns blazing. Somehow, he and ten of his men were all slaughtered. That wolf will die for taking my father from me! If it's the last thing I do, that wolf will pay!
