Chapter 4: Bay

1551 Words
Bay's POV: My human, Angel, is amazing. I began speaking to her when she was only a pup, on her sixth birthday. I needed her to understand the danger she could be in for because of what and who we are. Angel has had such a hard time in this life. Of course, I have been here with her, but unlike other humans and their wolves, we must hide our power. I cannot protect her as other wolves would for their humans. I have been forced to sit back and wait. I am the only White Alpha Wolf in existence. The goddess says we are not rare, we are unique. That's right, we are uniquely alone. My poor Angel deserves the best life. She has protected me for our entire existence. Well, mostly. All but that, one time, I forced a shift to protect our family. We were around eight years old. The memory is still so fresh in my mind. Flashback: July 2013 "You have to run, baby girl. Run and don't look back. Do not stop until you see the mountains. Your uncle will be waiting for you. He will protect you if we can't." Our father was shaking us awake. Worry was written clearly on his face. Rubbing her eyes, Angel tried to focus on what daddy was telling us. "What is wrong daddy? Where are we going?" We were both so confused. My brother Sam was standing in the doorway with a serious expression. Sam was never this serious. We knew something terrible was coming but we had no idea how this evening would change our lives. "You have to run baby! Mommy, Sam, and I will slow them down. You have to run to stay safe!" Daddy is doing his best to not scare us, but it isn't working. "I don't want to leave you!" Angel cried. For the first time ever, I pushed myself forward. As our eyes began to glow my signature cobalt blue, I saw the look in daddy's eyes, first maybe a little fear, and then pride. I smiled, hoping for him to know I would never hurt him. "My name is Bay. We will all run. As my Angel cannot lose you. She needs us, all of us. The goddess had informed me of our purpose." My alpha command was for his own good. When I spoke, I watched daddy's eyes widen and I saw his wolf come to the surface at my command. His gold eyes shimmered. His wolf was proud of his pup. Momma came in with bags in her hands. She didn't look so good. With bags under her eyes she looked as though she had been crying. There wasn't time to question her, it was time to go! Daddy must have let her know that they were not staying behind. I didn't know yet what we were running from, but if it scared my whole family, I do not need to know. I needed to run, and so we did. Two days into our journey, we had our first run in with the hunters. Somehow, they had found out about a white wolf. They knew one of us possessed great power. They could feel it. Just as we can sense things around us, hunters can sense our wolves. They are dangerous and heartless. With the belief that we all cannot coexist, they believe themselves superior to our abilities. Hunters will hunt werewolves until we are all gone. It is their purpose in life. I felt them surrounding us before I saw them. (I'm sorry Angel, the hunters have found us. There are too many for mom, dad, and Sam. I must reveal myself and we must kill them all. They cannot know who we are, no one can, not yet.) I could feel Angel's anxiety about having to hurt someone. A the age of twelve, she is just so young. (I will block you little one. You do not have to watch. I will keep our family safe. I promise you.) I spoke once more. (Okay Bay, I trust you. Don't let them hurt my family.) She said with tears in her voice. (Sleep little one, I will wake you when its over.) I blocked her from seeing through our eyes. She will remain protected from this type of c*****e until she is older. After blocking Angel, I shifted fast. My family knew that we were white but they hadn't laid eyes on our wolf form yet. I am impressive. I puffed out my chest from their admiration. At our human age, I am still not full grown but I am already as large as my father's beta wolf. My hair rose down my spine and I bared my teeth. I was ready to fight and I knew my targets. "They're here. Run Bay, keep Angel safe". Our mother tried to convince me to leave her. We weren't going anywhere. I shook my head and nudged her with my nose to reassure her. As the hunters came out of the woods standing around us like they had already caught me. "That bastard was right, he had a pure white all along" one of the hunters whistled. Was he speaking of our Alpha? Is that who sold us out to the hunters? Outside of our family, the Alpha was the only other person who knew about me. The hunter was a big burly man with shaggy dirty blonde hair that fell over his dark eyes. He had a scar that ran from his eyebrow down his face and neck. I'm sure another wolf had caused that. The others chuckled,, they thought they had already won.. but they were about to find out what this white was capable of. I felt Sam shift beside me. His wolf, Jagger, is a beautiful gray wolf, a bit larger than me, with gold eyes like dad. Somehow, he has the mark of a royal guard, a white diamond on his chest. No one knows exactly why. Other than the goddess, of course. The hunters advanced on us and I waited only a moment before my powerful paw slammed the ground, pushing some of my magic forward in swirls of blue. Each swirl of power causes a ripple through the forest. Then there was nothing but chaos. The ground raised up around the hunters and shook them into the trees. Their guns flew from their hands. Useless. My power brought them to their knees. Their lives were lost that day. My father and brother wiped them out. I never had to do anything after I stomped my paw. Thankfully, I won't have to hide too much of this memory from my innocent Angel. My mother never shifted. She remained in human form right next to me. Come to think of it, I've never seen her wolf. I am fairly certain she is a white wolf though. "You are magnificent" my mother whispered as she ran her fingers through my fur. She had so much pride in her eyes, along with a few unshed tears, my heart swelled even more. I pushed my head into her chest as she hugged me. My family. I will protect them, no matter what. For sixteen days we traveled through the heavy forest. I stood in my place at the back of Angel's mind, alert, waiting. We never ran into any more trouble. Not unless you consider Sam and his pranks. I actually thought momma was going to kill him at one point. He helped pass the time though. This journey would have been boring without him. I felt his aura before I saw him. There was another Alpha in these woods. I once again pushed forward, hackles rising, eyes glowing "We have the company of an Alpha, also maybe his Beta." I growled out quietly. "It's okay Bay, it should be my brother and his Alpha. I think we're finally here." My father spoke, settling me down. End of flashback I'm tired of sitting here in Angel's mind. I am definitely restless. I feel better, but Angel is still so tired. I think the company of our mate is helping her rest finally. She hasn't met him yet, but just like me, I know her heart and soul can feel him. I know he is tired. Angel has been asleep for almost three days now. He hasn't left our side. I spoke with his wolf Bane when we first got here. I can't wait to meet him. He has a low, growly sounding voice that makes my fur tingle. I already know he is magnificent. I can feel his power. (Bay, I'm trying to sleep. Your thoughts are giving me a headache) Angel groaned. (I'm sorry A, I'm just bored. We've been asleep for three days.) At my response I felt Angel's surprise at how long we've slept. (I'm hungry for real food Angel), (I can't believe I slept this long, I'm trying to wake up Bay, it's hard.) My poor Angel is so tired. (Sleep a while longer human, our mate is keeping watch. He will protect us.) I didn't get a response this time but I'm sure that is for the best. I should rest so Angel can get stronger. Sweet dreams my beautiful human.
