Angel's POV: (6AM)
Something startled me awake, some kind of pull. Now my stomach had a knot and I didn't feel well. Thinking I might get sick, I tried to untangle myself from Dax's arms. He only grumbled and held me tighter. "Dax...Dax wake up. I have to go to the bathroom. I don't feel well." That made him open his eyes and let me loose. "Are you okay? Do you need help?" His sleepy voice was adorable and if my stomach didn't feel like this I would have admired it a lot more. "No, I'm okay.." I scrambled to sit up and the tug in my stomach got stronger. "Dax..my stomach" He was sitting up now. rubbing my back. "Something is wrong." I don't feel sick anymore. I don't know what is going on. "It's okay baby. Do you need a doctor? I can call him." Dax's eyes were worried, boring into my own. His chocolate pools calm me slightly. "No I'm okay now. Maybe I just got too warm? I felt this pull, then I thought I was going to be sick." I told him, still a bit worried. As werewolves, we rarely get sick.
All of a sudden, we heard a scream that had us both on our feet instantly. Recognition had my heart in my toes. I've never heard it but I knew who that scream belonged to. Fate. "That's Fate." Dax said quickly. "She is having another nightmare." Dax had grabbed my hand and begun briskly walking for the door. "Go go go...take me to her." I have never felt so anxious in my life. My entire body was trembling. The sound of her scream was echoing around the hallway as Dax picked up the pace. Before I knew it, we were headed through a door and her screams got even louder. "Munchkin..Fate, wake up honey. It's okay, we're here." Dax used a soft voice trying to wake her. He was pushing the hair away from her face. (Touch her Angel! This is not her nightmare. She is stuck in someone else's dream.) At Bay's words I was already reaching for Fate's hand. (Think happy thoughts Angel, send them to her.) I barely registered the glowing blue light we were emitting.
I heard more people come through the door but I'm not sure who they are. I was busy thinking of every happy moment I could send her. The screaming stopped as I pushed the memory of Sam and I playing as children. Then I sent her all the feelings I had when we first touched. Slowly Fate's breathing evened out. She was resting again. I looked toward the door to see both of my parents, Sam,, and Max, all staring at my little family. My mother had tears in her eyes. "She is even more beautiful than I had imagined!" My father sounded as if he might cry as well. "She was in my dream, Angel. She took it from me and sent me to the meadow. Why would she do that?" Everyone turned to look at my Mom. She was holding onto my dad with all the strength she had.
"I didn't take your dream. You brought us there and yes, we sent you away." That was not Fate's voice, but it came from her. My mother's face looked like complete shock, "Trinity?" she questioned. "Hi Raya, I'm sorry I couldn't come back to you. She tried everything. This was the closest I could get to being with my family. Hi Grey..." Trinity smiled at my father. "Goddess Trin, it's good to hear your voice!" My father was holding Mama up at this point. "She brought you back to me though! Not in the way I had expected but..at least I know my granddaughter will always have you." My Mom exclaimed, the shock slowly changing to joy. This went better than I had thought it would.
Suddenly I was exhausted. (We used a lot of energy because we were a bit scared. You need to share some of Dax's.) Bay said in my head. (What? You mean take some of Dax's energy? I can't do that. What would he do then?) She chuckled at me. (There's a lot more to learn about our mate A. He doesn't run out of energy. His royal blood doesn't even require sleep for quite a long time.) Her statement just left me with more questions. "Dax.." I was really tired. He looked at me and must have known. "Come here. Bane says you can pull out some of our energy. Go ahead, I'm sure Bay can show you how." Dax said as he took me into his arms. (Okay Angel just picture a large lake. Good. Now in your mind jump in. Okay, keep swimming until you start to feel his power fill you. There, can you feel it A?) (Yes. Woah! This is all his?) I asked Bay as I could feel his power invading every part of me. It was bright, warm, and all-consuming. (Sort of. This power is ours. He hasn't been able to harness his power until now. You, my human, were his missing piece. Now that he has you, he will finally come into his full strength. Well, most of the way. We must finalize the mating process for him to unlock all of his potential, same for us. We are only part of ourselves until we are one, completely. Our mate is more than impressive.) Bay grinned and it caused me to as well. Maybe I am good for him. (You are the only one good enough for him.) Bay pulled back slightly after she spoke. "Thank you, now I definitely can't go back to sleep. I think I may have taken too much." I told Dax. He shook his head at me, with a small laugh, "you barely took anything. Bane has already replaced it. He was happy to help. Trust me!" His words made me laugh. "Thank you too, Bane, you are pretty amazing." I watched Dax's eyes change from those dark brown pools into a golden honey hue. I knew Bane had pushed to the front. A low, more gravely voice told me I was right. "Anything for our Angel and my Bay." His voice sent chills down my spine. Bay pushed forward enough for our eyes to glow. She didn't say anything, just stared into the eyes of her mate. I felt like I took a back seat in my mind. Watching her and feeling her love for Bane made it all worth it though. Everything we had gone through was preparing us for this life with him.
Sam cleared his throat from where he stood in the doorway. "As fun as it is to watch my baby sister with her mate..." he choked on a gag. I rolled my eyes hard at him, he is so dramatic, "can someone tell me what just happened?? Did you really just pull power from the King?" He was looking at me but Dax answered for me. "No, she pulled some of Bane's energy. We cannot give our power, only energy. Also, please call me Dax or even Daxton, if you are so inclined." Sam nodded, "still pretty freaking crazy if you ask me...Dax" Dax and I both chuckled at Sam. He's right though, it is pretty freaking crazy! Trinity must have gone back to sleep while I was swimming in energy.
(Bane is swoon worthy! You think Dax will let us shift now? Maybe let Bane and I run together? We need to run off some of this extra energy?) My breath caught as I gasped. We have never been able to go for a run, as we couldn't shift in front of anyone. We ran the risk of being seen. (What if someone sees us Bay? I thought it wasn't safe?) She didn't even think long about my comment. (We have our mate now, A. We don't have to be afraid anymore.) Bay's thoughts made me cover my mouth with one hand. I can finally be a wolf! I never thought this day would come.
"What's wrong, Luna? Are you okay?" From the door, Max sounded concerned. "Oh..Luna. That's right. Umm..can you just call me Angel? Nothing is wrong. I'm okay now. I was just talking to my wolf." Max looked at Dax, looking uncomfortable. Dax nodded, "he'll call you whatever you want to be called, love. In front of the others, though, he will have to refer to you by your title. Just to show his respect in front of his pack mates. Max is my oldest friend. What did Bay say that has you so tense?" His words made me look at him with a smile. I looked back toward Max, "Okay, definitely call me Angel then! I would like that. Bay wants to know if we can go on a run. I've never been on a run before..." I looked around the room at my family. Their faces showing their sadness at my admission. "What do you mean? You've never shifted into Bay's form?" Dax's surprise made me feel silly. I felt my shoulders slump and I shook my head. "It was never safe. My own Alpha, and best friend, sold us out to the hunters. She has shifted only twice, and neither time for more than a few minutes. She has never been on a run with her pack. It was just too dangerous. Apparently, Bay finally seems to believe she can show herself again." I was thankful for my Dad's explanation. I didn't want to tell him how pathetic I was. Always afraid. My pack mates thought I was wolf-less because it was safer that way. "Angel, baby, look at me..." I felt Dax's hand on my chin, tilting my head up to look him in the eyes. "First order of business, we will go on a run, but for now I need you to promise me that you won't shift without me near. Until you are a full member of the royal pack it isn't safe, okay?" Dax was gentle with his words as he caressed my jaw.
The smile that came to my face must have been something. Dax's eyes changed, showing Bane, "if you keep smiling like that, we will never tell you no, mate." Bane's voice once again caused my body to tingle and I leaned into his chest to escape those eyes again. "I promise you both, we will only shift with you next to us. Bay says she promises too, unless she has to shift to protect me, Fate, or Momma. She believes everyone else can take care of themselves. I told her Momma could kick our tail, but she still thinks we should keep her safe." The whole room laughed and I smiled as wide as I could. My face felt like it could split. I was so excited. "Okay baby, it's a deal. Let me link one of the Omega's to keep an ear open for Fate to wake up. I don't want her waking up alone. Especially after that nightmare..." Dax was interrupted by my mother. "I can stay here with her! I can't go on the run anyhow...I..would love to be here for her. It would give me purpose again. My babies don't need me, not like this anymore. My link with Grey is still perfectly intact. If we need anything, you will know." Her words made my heart ache. Knowing she had to give up Trinity to save my Daddy, broke my heart. Daddy rubbed circles on her back, just like Dax has done to me several times now. Is there a handbook on how to calm your mate? If so, I need to read it. "I think that is a great idea, Raya. She will love having her Grandmother here." Dax said as he held me a little closer. Again, there must be a book that everyone else has read.
My mother ushered us all toward the door, "Have fun baby girl, enjoy the forest for me too, okay? I will stay here with this beautiful little creation of yours." Her smile seemed to heal the part of my heart that was hurting for her. I hope having Trinity close will help her even more. "I will Ma, I love you!" We all made our way down the hallway to the stairs before my father spoke. "That's the first time I've seen her genuinely happy since that night. Her smile, it hadn't reached her eyes in eight years. I have missed it more than I even knew. Sargent is so excited, he's bouncing around, giving me a headache. When Trinity was taken, I thought I had lost that part of her forever. That little girl has healed her so much already." His eyes shined with unshed tears and the love I have for my parents swelled up in my throat. I was fighting back tears too. Sam wrapped his arm around dad and slapped his shoulder. "She is going to be okay now Dad. She is so strong." Dad nodded at Sam's words as we came to the bottom of the stairs. "She needed her mother too. Even more than I knew. Thank you Daxton, for taking such good care of Fate for all these years, and for so far being the mate my lovely daughter has needed as well. As long as Bay trusts you, then you have mine as well." If it's possible my heart swelled even more at the faith my father has in Bay. In my mind she puffed out her chest under his praise. His words of loyalty gave her a bit of a big head. She scoffed at my thoughts, which just made me laugh at her.
We walked through a large living room, down another hallway to a large kitchen, and out what looked to be a backdoor. As we filled out the door the smell of the forest hit me like a ton of bricks and Bay began howling in my head out of excitement. "You can go over there to take your clothes off and shift." Dax gestured toward what looked like a long row of curtain covered outhouses but he didn't go that way. (We don't have to strip to shift, I won't tear your clothes.) Bay was rattling with excitement. "Aren't you guys coming?" Sam asked over his shoulder. "Bay says she won't tear my clothes." I stated with a shrug. Dax laughed heartily beside me, "Bane is a bad wolf, sorry. My royal blood allows me the same comforts, he doesn't shred my clothes either." Dax's words made me blush. I don't think I want to know what Bane said this time. "Must be nice.." my father's words trailed off as he went behind a curtain. Dax turned to me, "do you know how to do this or do you need me to explain?" I smiled at how thoughtful he was. "Bay says we were born to do this, she's so excited and a bit cocky! Thank you for this!" "That smile is worth more than anything to me, love. We can run every morning before training if you want. Bane likes to go on several runs a day and Fate usually joins us at least once a day. Oh and the cocky thing. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's an Alpha thing. We are all that way to a certain degree." He gave me a smirk as he winked that made my skin so hot I thought I might melt my clothes off! I pulled away from him. As my body protested the distance between our skins, the look he gave me...shew it told me that he knew exactly the effect he had on me.
I started wiping my hands down my legs again. I was hot and my stupid hands always sweated. It makes me angry. Why do I sweat worse than my brother? Ugh. It's hot. Now I'm hot all over. Dax grabbed me with cold, wonderful hands...ahhh. That is much better! He feels like a refrigerator. I press my body against him and he wraps himself around me. He's so big and his embrace relieves all the heat in my body. It feels like he's pushing it all away. "I didn''t realize flirting with you would make you angry, love." The deep rumble of his chest helped settle the rest of my thoughts. I pulled my head away to look at him. "You didn't make me mad. I get hot and start to sweat and it's gross. I don't like how it feels. I feel much better now, Thank you for the cool down!" I smiled at him and brushed my lips against his jaw with a small peck. I've never kissed a boy before but he was different. He wasn't just any boy. He is my soul mate, my other half, blessed by my goddess-grandmother to be my mate for life. That had to mean it was okay to kiss him. Dax pulled me against him a bit harder for a moment before letting me go enough to look me in the eye. "I will be here to cool you down anytime you need! Especially if it gets me more kisses. That, my Angel, is an absolute vow!" Dax's eyes were beautiful dark brown orbs. I could get lost in them. I lowered my head and snuggled into his cool chest once more. He rubbed circles on my back and I heard Bay purr in delight. I let out a tiny sigh and began pulling away. I am calm enough now. I needed to let Bay do her thing, even though she was enjoying the contact with our mate too. She needed some time for herself. It was her time to be a wolf! Dax must have followed my thoughts, as he let me go.
"I'll be able to link with you while we're shifted, through our mate bond. Also, I can link with Sam, but I will not be able to communicate with your father until he's a member of the Royal Pack. You and Sam will have to keep him in the loop. We have plenty of room to run,-let's give it hell!" Dax said as he shifted seamlessly into a giant eight-foot tall pure black wolf. I must have been in a daze for a minute. It drew the attention of my brother, unfortunately. (Oh keep your pants on...I thought you wanted to run?) Sam was being impatient. (I'm just admiring my mate, thank you!) Bay answered his question. (Okay Bay, lets do this!) She shifted as I spoke. Woah, we are much bigger than I remember. (Wow Bay! You have grown!) I told her as she shook out her coat. It was an odd feeling to be at the back of our mind but it was kind of fun too. Bay knew how to operate all of her limbs. I would have been like a baby deer the day it was born, wobbling around, trying to find my center. I heard my father and brother talking to Bay about how she had grown as well. She seemed to almost strut around the back yard. She was a proud wolf, as she should be. She is beautiful!
(How are you doing in there?) Dax's voice in our head made our fur tremble. (Mmmm...hello mate!) Bay beat me to the response as I was enjoying the new sensation. He laughed a hearty laugh. (Hello, Bay! You are beautiful. Did you see our new marks?) Dax's question made Bay search herself, falling over her own feet as she did. She turned around with a huff and shook her head with a snort that almost sounded like a sneeze. (Look, here's ours...) Bane turned to show us his left shoulder. His pure black fur had a large white patch in the shape of a wolf. Bay purred...(Does ours look like yours?) I asked Dax, Bane nodded his head. (You are both so magnificent.) Dax's voice in my head is my new favorite sound. Bay and Bane press the tops of their heads together, and I sat in the back of our minds completely shocked by what she did next. As she pulled her head away from his, she turned and bared her neck to Bane. I could barely believe my eyes. Bay never submitted to anyone. She was an Alpha, and Alpha's do not back down. If that wasn't crazy enough, Bane pushed one paw forward and bowed at us. He also showed his submission to his mate. (Woah...I didn't expect either of those things to happen...) I told Dax. (I...I...I still can't believe it either.) The surprise in his voice told me he was just as shocked as I am. I turned to see both Sargent and Jagger baring their necks to us. Bay shook her head, (Okay, enough of that. Let's have some fun.) I told Bay and she agreed.
Bay took off like a shot through the trees. Bane was nipping at our tail moments later. Sargent and Jagger were flanking us on the right until Sargent decided to pounce on Jagger. I heard playful growls and nips coming from behind us as Bay navigated the forest with ease. (You act like you have always done this Bay! You're so awesome!) I praised my wolf for her agility. (I would go faster but our mate might get hurt feelings the first time out.) She laughed as she pretty much said she was faster than Bane. (You know we can hear you right?) That was Dax, he had a humor in his voice that made me giggle. (It wasn't a secret Dax.) Bay was full out laughing now. I've never heard her laugh this way. It was refreshing. She deserved to be able to run and have fun. I wish I had been stronger growing up. Maybe she wouldn't have had to hide for so long. I heard his and Bane's laughter through the link as suddenly Bay came to an abrupt stop, (Bane, someone is here with us, I can feel them. Can you smell them? I can't.) Bay's hair rose down her spine as she ordered Sargent and Jagger to a halt. (No Bay, but I can feel them too. I'm going to link the warriors.) Dax said as he cut our link for a moment.
