I watched him freeze, stopping his assault on the poor guy.
I started to approach Knox, wondering what in the fresh hell has gotten into him but I stopped in my tracks when I saw Becca of all people throw herself on him, imploring him to get off of Carl. He held my gaze for one short second before he allowed f*****g Becca to pull him off of Carl. She was touching him, asking if he was hurt with that fake concerned edge in her voice.
I swallowed. It suddenly looked like I had just swallowed an entire pit of snakes. They were crawling down my throat and twisting around each other until they found their way up and down my body.
