chapter 7 : missing persons?

They both woke up groggily from their odd nightmares. They got ready and shambled down to get breakfast. The spread was nice and simple. As they began to eat, their minds were still half asleep. A news story came on the TV two missing person's reports were put in by their schools at the behest of concerned friends and family, teachers, and so on. One way a 6-foot tall male with brown eye color, a beauty mark on his cheek near his eye, tan skin, and ear piercings.
The other person was a female at 5'4, hair color with brown hair that was dyed blonde, eyes blue, Caucasian, nose and ear pierchings. When they get done describing the missing people they show their pictures up on screen. They both splatter and spit out their drinks as they have coughing fits from whatever they were drinking going down the wrong pipe.
" the hell?! " Mia exclaimed she saw herself on the TV as one of the missing persons. She was in the clothes she wore at the soulmate thing with Dustin. Ew. " Mia Amara Nova Barack from Golden Creek High School, Borden, IN "Cole saw himself on the TV next. It was a photo of him in a group photo with his other friends ' and some of his victims. ' he felt sick to his stomach. " Cole Aster Emilio Cielo from Jefferson high school, hamilton, Ohio. "
They both stared ahead at the TV wide-eyed and with their mouths agape. " oh we need to get the f**k out of here. " he felt num as he nodded his head. " yea-un le-um lets go. " he didn't know what he wanted to say but only found a few. They ran back to their room and packed up before they went back and got some more food for later. They ran to the car and peeled out and this time Cole was appreciative of that.
Mia felt her heart pounding in her chest like she was just in a race. " s**t s**t s**t what am I gonna do..... I'm so fucked...." she felt her body and hands shake as she gripped the wheel before she slammed her hand into it. They both jumped when a phone went off. Mia grabbed for her phone as she heard her ringtone go off. ' Move your body like a snake, let me see that thing shake. C'mon boy let me dance on your face, oh oh oh. Move your body like a snake, c'mon girl let me see that thing. Oh oh oh. ' she found her phone and pressed the call button, She heard her dad's voice on the other end. " Dad why was I on the news saying I'm a missing person? " her voice was laced with confusion and nervousness.
She heard her dad sigh over the phone. " someone from the school wanted to talk to you about trying to work on being with Dustin because you are supposed to be soulmates with him. I told her there was no way in hell that was happening. She did not take that well and I believe that maybe way the missing person thing may have happened. " Mia felt her blood boil at hearing that. " I will never be with him. Whatever teacher or counselor tried to set that up can mind their own damn business. " she watched as she saw they were about leave Ohio and into Pennsylvania. " oh and I'll send you the cord cutter location. I found where they were. " she felt her breath hitch. " And Mia.... be safe sweetie and don't let them find you ok? " Mia nodded. " yes Dad, I'll be careful. Love you. " she heard him let out a chuckle but the sound was tinged and worry and anxiety. " love you too little wolf " They both hung up. She felt tears fall down her cheeks. Her phone dinged and she found saw that they are so close. " they're in new york.... " her voice was a horse Whisper. He didn't quite hear it. But saw the tears go down her cheek as she looked at the road.
They somehow managed to cross over into Pennsylvania without needing to stop for gas beforehand. They were both on high alert. they drove for a while longer till they had to stop for gas. Mia put a mask on and put her hair in a bun before stuffing it in a hat. " 10 on pump 7, please. " she looked around and got some snacks for the road. She may need to stock up on some water and stuff. " thank you sir " She bought what she wanted and left to pump the gas. She looked around making sure no one making a call or anything. After she was done she put the pump back and drove off. Taking back ways were what they needed right now. Some place they could sleep before it got too dark to set up camp.
As the blue sky got darker and pinks and purple started to show, plus Mia had to pull over so much said f**k it gas canister, and filled it up for later. Stop somewhere near some woods. Cole set up camp while Mia got dinner for that night. A pizza she got from a restaurant nearby. She set up her tent and other things before they ate their dinner. They didn't much talk for the whole drive.
Mia took a big bite of her Philly steak Pizza. " mmmm! This is so good! " seemed to enjoy the pizza a lot. This may be Cole's chance to ask her what the call was about. What was going on. " so, what was that call about earlier? " she looked at him with a pensive look. " well it turns out that a teacher or school counselor wanted me and this guy I can't stand wanted me to come in and get along or talk it out with him. Honestly, I don't know what her attentions were or what she wanted from me but I was never going to be with him so way try and talk it out with him. " she took another bite. he swore she had fangs, and his heart rate spiked at that. " I mean who are they to try and have me be with him "
oh, so it was an arranged marriage thing going on. So did her dad help her escape? he felt stunned when he realized what that meant and what that person was trying to do. " so they called in a missing persons report to try and find you and bring you back?! " that was a terrifying thought. " no, I doubt they know I'm missing yet. they probably did it to either scare me enough to get me down there or someone would see me, call the cops, I'd go home and they would call home knowing I was trapped and had to go then. " as she talked Cole was starting to fear something else was going on here
