Chapter 2

"I know." "So let me go back to school." He got out of the bed and looked at the golden clock above. "I'm sure my friends will be looking for me by now." I sighed. Here goes the part that I tell him to forget about his former life. I didn't know why Albazar always made me do this with the new recruits. "I'm sorry, but you have to forget about your old life." He shot me a look. "What?" "Yeah." I nodded my head. "Once you've entered the walls of this institute I'm afraid you can't leave it. Except, when you're on a mission." "Oh my God." He ran his hands through his hair. "You can't do this to me, please." I exhaled and locked my fingers. "Did you see those things that attacked yesterday." He nodded his head. "If we weren't there, you could've been dead by now." I titled my head. "I know this will be hard for you, but for your safety, you need to stay here." "How am I sure I'm safe here?" "Because I gave you my word." He frowned. "I barely even know you." "So you want to go back to school and get eaten by vampires?" He gulped. "No." "Good." He sighed and clasped his hands. "At least can you guys show me where my laptop is?" He sniffed. "At least if I'm going to stay here I need something to keep me busy." "Burnt." "What?" "Albazar said he wouldn't want you m**********g your life away." I smiled. "But that's not why we burnt it. Our institute is a secret one and we wouldn't want anyone to know about it. So we had to destroy anything they could track you with." A tear rolled down his cheek. "Why me? Why?" His voice was shaky and he sounded weak. He dropped back on the bed and placed his hands on his forehead. "I'm sorry." I got up from the seat and sat next to him in the bed. "Sometimes, things happen. You just have to go with where the wind takes you." "As poetic as that sounds, I still feel like shit." He opened an eye and looked at me with a weak smile. I chuckled. "You're a nice guy." He sat up, the sheets rumpling. "You're trying to make me feel better. Unlike your crazy brother who knocked me out. I hate him." I smirked. "A lot of people do." I tapped him on the shoulder. "When you get to know him, you'll like him. He's not as bad as he seems, trust me." Dragging his sheets, I eyed the bathroom. "Now, you need to bath." "Why?" "You're now a new recruit at the undivulged academy." I neatly folded the sheets and kept them on the arm chair. "You need to prepare for classes." Chapter 3 ---The academy Scott's POV "Scott, hurry up!" Ian let out from outside the room. "One minute!" I put on the black leather jacket he kept on my bed. The attire had an emblem at the chest level. It beared the insignia of two intertwining triangles. One white the other black. I glanced around the room one more time before I left it, introducing myself to the corridor. Ian was leaning on the wall, absently looking at the ring on his hand. "Hey." He shot his head up. "You're done." "Yes." He gestured along the corridor. "This way." He led the way and I followed suit. Doors like mine lined the corridor. The walls were sparkling white like the ones in my room. Alluring paintings hung on the wall and made me turn my head once in a while. We walked till we reached a stair. Ian went down it and I followed. The stairs turned continuously and I was beginning to get dizzy. I wondered how high the building was. The walls of the stairs were made of stone and had wooden torches hung on them. I was so glad when we finally left the stairs. He led me to another corridor that had white columns lining it. There were three more corridors and they joined forming a square. At their middle was a fountain that had the statue of a naked male angel in gold. Water was pouring from the p***s of the statue. I looked closely and noticed that the angel was the exact resemblance of Ian. The water of the fountain glistened under the sun and mowed grasses surrounded the fountain. "So, tell me more about this academy." At least if I was going to stay here, I deserved to know about the place. Ian slowed down so I could reach him. "We recruit supernaturals ." "Like vampires?" "No." He frowned. "Vampires are a common enemy in this academy." "Like her?" I eyed a girl at the other corridor. A ball of fire was on her palm and she threw it around, playing with it. Ian followed my eyes and saw her. "Yes." "So that's why you were asking if I had powers?" I asked. "You wanted to know if I was like her." "Yeah." He glanced at me and trailed off his gaze to his front. "Unfortunately, you don't have any." "So..." I glanced around. "Why am I here?" "A prophecy claims your going to be our ultimate weapon stopping Dracula." He raked his hair. "I guess that's why you're still here." This whole thing was making me go nuts. First vampires attacked me last night now I'm hearing about a prophecy. God please tell me this is a dream. "It's not." I shot my eyes open. "Did you just read my mind?" Ian twitched a corner of his lips and faced front. "I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. Come on, let's move." Great, now someone can read my mind. How creepy? "Scott, you have to stop talking to yourself. Concentrate." "How did you know my name?" "Are you seriously asking that?" He put a hand in his pocket and continued walking. We left the corridor and entered an open place. It looked like a courtyard. At the middle too was another fountain. But this one didn't have any statue on it. The son scorched my skin and I regretted why I wore this jacket. I was under shades for too long that I didn't know how hot the sun was. Raising my gaze, I gasped. I had just left a castle. I was in a f*****g castle. How rich are these guys? The castle was so tall that I couldn't even see the roof. It's walls was of grey stones and some balconies shot out of it. I strode along the clobbered floor, following Ian like a duckling will follow its mama. People in the same jacket as mine stole a quick glance from me as they walked past me. Some whispered into their ears whenever I passed them. Are these guys gossiping about me? "Ignore them." Ian raised a hand and gestured at me to increase my pace. "They'll only make you feel insecure." And it was working. Nothing was on me. My cloth was clean. So why on earth are these people still looking at me? "I see you're very stubborn." I rose my gaze and saw Ian looking at me with a smirk on his face. He then rubbed his cheek with a palm. "You remind me of an old friend of mine. He was really stubborn like you. Until..." His smirk dropped and he faked a smile. "never mind. This way." He strode to another castle but this one was smaller than the other. Gargoyles made of stone were mounted on its roof. The entrance was a huge double door that had a golden handle. Ian pushed it open and we entered, the lobby first in view. People in the same jacket as mine strode along the black tiled lobby. Some carried books in their hands, while some gisted and laughed. A pretty light skinned lady with Afro curls advanced to us and played a smile on her lips when she closed in. "Babe." Ian pecked her lips. She looked at me and broke out a warm smile. "You must be Scott." She stretched out a hand to shake me. "I'm Gabrielle, the academy's doctor. " I shook her hand. "Albazar said he's got a mission." Gabrielle crossed her hands as she looked at her boo. "You should go meet him. I'll attend to Scott." "Sure." He pecked her cheeks again. "Bye." "Bye." She waved at him and watched him till he was out of sight. "So, Scott..." She tapped my shoulder. "welcome to the undivulged academy." Chapter 4 ---Decision making Ian's POV I tapped my earpiece and advanced through the park. The sun rays streaked through the green tree, casting their shadows along the path. A child sat with his dad on a bench and kept on throwing a tantrum. Weaving past them, I kept my cool, trying not to look suspicious. People strode past me, smiles bustling on their faces. As I walked down the brown path, I glanced at the river on the left. It was crystal clear and glistened under the sun. I adjusted my shades and increased my pace. "Albazar, what's the status," I spoke into my earpiece. I heard him sigh over the communicator. "Daniel and Jessica have made their way to the museum." "I thought the plan was for all of us to go in?" I frowned and stroke my tie, keeping my pace. "Our satellites can't get a visual on what's going on inside. We need eyes in there." Albazar said something to someone over the communicator then returned to me. "I know Dan and Jessica are capable of retrieving the painting." "They're still kids. And they're still learning. You can't just send them in without a supervisor," I said, walking past a man rolling an ice cream cart. "Look, I'm going in. Later." "Hey..." I tapped on the earpiece and disconnected him. "Fucker." Dan and Jessy were the best recruits so far. They were the only ones that got to leave the academy for missions. And Albazar, got none of the action. He always sat back in the operations room and gave orders around. I skirted past picnic eaters, trying my best not to knock over their fruit baskets. I advanced towards the fountain dripping with clear water , dropping sights around me. The museum was before the fountain and people weaved in and out of it. I tapped my earpiece. "Albazar." "I knew you'll eventually comeback." I swear I saw him the grinning over the phone. "Hook me up with Dan and Jesse." "Sure." His footsteps sounded over the communicator and I heard him tell someone, "Connect him." My earpiece buzzed and I knew he had done what I asked him to do. "Dan? Jessy?" "Master Ian?" Jessy's lively tone questioned. "What's the situation?" "Dan has gone to create a distraction. I could really need your help here. The security won't let me pass." She sounded pretty annoyed. "On my way." I climbed up the stairs and passed the white columns of the museum. Entering, the whole place was filled with tourists. Some held disappointing look on their faces, probably cause they couldn't get in. I glanced around looking for Jessy. I spotted her. Her sparkling blonde hair made it easy. It always stood out from the rest. I made my way to her. She wore a black jacket bearing the emblem of the academy. A smile spawned on her face when she saw me. "What's the problem?" I asked. "Museum's full." She glanced at the security in black suit standing firm at the check in area. "Buff asshole didn't let me through." "Did you try on your charms?" "Yeah. Looks like he's not into girls. I mean..." She gestured at her t**s. They were plump and shot out her black vest. I quickly averted my gaze. "who could resist these?" I chuckled. "Let me handle it."
